GOVERNMENT has welcomed the resignation of Deputy Minister of Youth and Sport Chinga Miyutu, saying he might have been under pressure from his party, the UPND.

Acting chief government spokesperson Fackson Shamenda said in Lusaka yesterday that the resignation is unfortunate.
“But he is not irreplaceable, so he will be replaced,” Mr Shamenda said.

He said the appointment of Mr Miyutu was in line with Government’s desire of an inclusive government.

“When one ditches the government, there will be another one who will be willing to work with Government,” he said.

“Mr Miyutu’s decision to step down as deputy minister is purely personal just as to serve in the government is an individual decision. There are others out there who are willing to serve the people,” Mr Shamenda said.

He said Government will work with anyone willing to implement the Patriotic Front manifesto.

“We are an inclusive government… so we will still encourage opposition members who are willing to work with us to come on board,” the minister said.

Mr Miyutu on Wednesday wrote a letter of resignation to President Sata and copied to the UPND.

  1. Shamenda says “government will work with anyone willing to implement Patriotic Front manifesto”. The manifesto include the old and unmotivated civil servants retiring at 65years, promoting regionalism nepotism and tribalism, militarizing civil organization like ECZ, promoting arrogance and violence of all forms, promoting isolation of Zambia both in the region and internationally, increasing disease burden by poor funding and allowing unsanitary and illegal street vending . The list is endless. Haa Shamenda what is wrong of late.

    • Has he developed His constituency since he left his political party to work with PF? Stop cheating the poor electorate you morons. Thank God people are realising that you are just a bunch of UNIP reloaded.

    • hahahahah…. `Mr Miyutu on Wednesday wrote a letter of resignation to President Sata and copied to the UPND`. Mr shamenda,, did the president read that letter since it was copied to UPND?
And where is Mr Sekeni? has been affected by the shortage of ARVs in the country?

  2. Its unfortunate that the Guys has started running way. PF go back to the drawing board and check were u have gone wrong the people put you there to come with better policies and make a better Zambia for all.

  3. I used to think Shamenda had integrity with an independent mind. We voted for PF because we saw few brains like Lubinda the party.

  4. Burying the head in the sand. There is a problem bwana minister. If you cant see what we are seeing, then sole william.

  5. The REAL problem is just around corner. With salary increase for civil servants knocking at the door, Kwacha in a constant decline, forex reserve almost exhausted, REAL inflation galloping and “no money in the pocket” how you are going to feed the nation?

  6. But, where does Shamenda place the desire for separation of powers of the three arms of government, in his own scheme of things, by stating his ‘desire of an inclusive government’. Doesn’t Shamenda know that MPs are part of Government? Doesn’t he know that the judiciary is also another wing of government or what? Doesn’t he know that the cabinet in only but one [Executive]wing of Government? It is surprising that a whole Minister can display such blantant lack of knowledge governance and existing constitutional provisions!

  7. The queue for Belly rumbling politicians ready to fill the void must be now stretching from the State House doors, right outside the gates towards Woodlands – Political worms ready to eat, but not serve the poor masses, guided by Chief Belly Worm – Munkhombwe

  8. Ati “there are so many people out there willing to work,” Ok epo tuli fwebalefwaya ukubombela government. Ala kale twaamba ukulolela ukubombela ubuteko. Kucitako ifintu sharp sharp. What is the address i apply?
