ZNBC Director General Chibamba Kanyama has revealed that the state broadcaster is investing heavily in infrastructure development aimed at improving the signal quality.

Mr. Kanyama said ZNBC is committed to seeing to it that the signal of its television and radio broadcasts is of the highest quality.

He disclosed that the corporation has invested a further K8 million in procuring new equipment to improve its ZNBC V 1 signal.

“You may have noticed that the quality of our TV 1 signal has improved significantly over the past two, three weeks but I would like to assure the nation that this signal will improve even further within the next eight weeks,” Mr. Kanyama said.

He said ZNBC is putting up a new production server system which is a highly computerized and digital system for TV 1 to further improve the quality of signal.

“We have also enhanced the quality of reception for our radio, all the radio channels. We are also rolling out the FM transmitters across the country, as we are speaking, the last piece of equipment is at the airport,” he said.

Mr. Kanyama said ZNBC is confident that the rest of the country will be able to receive Radio 1, 2 and 4 signals in high quality.

    • 1. The main problems with ZNBC TV:
      (a) Poor picture quality
      (b) Very poor graphics
      (c) very poor studio interiors
      (d) very poor coverage of news all over the country ( Zambia is not just Lusaka )
      (e) very timid presenters
      ( f) poor programme content
      (g) Very poor quality and Childish advertisements

      2. Now, naiwe Chibamba Kanyama you’re the Chief Executive of ZNBC, stop using Facebook type of adventurous pictures as official portrait

    • Iwe na iwe wanu ngwee there’s nothing wrong with that picture yakwa Chibamba. This is his not official portrait. He didn’t publish this story. Its the picture Lusaka Times has of him

    • Ok nazaula… kambwekeshepo

    • Which improvement maybe graphics showing scoline and please some one to tell Inocent Kalaluka that Soccer commentry is not his thing, he should just concentrate on his variety show

    • I watched the Zambia vs Botswana CHAN game on Botswana Television. I was so embarrassed to say the least. The picture quality was so poor one could hardly see the ball but just shadows of players running. I knew the picture was the product of ZNBC because of the flashes of “ZNBC” before and after each slow motion replay. And the pitch at the new Levy Mwanawasa Stadium is brown. Are there still water problems in Ndola since the mid 80s when I was there? What is wrong in Zambia kanshi?

  1. Just give me back my TV levy, I don’t watch you and you make enough from me from your shares in MultiChoice Zambia!

  2. Go on brother, from day one you where the right man for this job. Atleast Sata made one good move to appoint you.

  3. Better we stop this issue of mending a torn trouser and buy a new one. CK lets hear more of digital immigration than wat u are doing now.

  4. About time, invest in young talent to sort out your studio lighting and graphics. Engage freelance journalists to produce your documentaries and news. You may purchase the most advanced equipment on the planet but for as long as the guy producing your shows has no clue on how to use this gear then you are back to square one. You need standards on picture and sound quality. ZNBC is just a cash cow for it’s employees and management. What a shame.

  5. Chibamba Mudala wandi walifishiba bwino ifyama television nama bishineshi. just do what you know. Iam sure fika impuluva ifintu

  6. What is wrong with our people what is wrong with YOU? You mean to tell me you only notice the appalling service when there is a match oh please give me a break….how about the outdated decor, chintz sofas, wood paneling, thick drapes on those debate programs, the dreary interior setting & lightning for the News, the awful make up applied on newscaster…the whole SET UP is FRANKLY execrable.
ZNBC needs to rid of all the fossils like Mr. Kenneth Muduma and start foresting strategic partnerships with other news international news networks. Chibamba needs to make a case for proper funding to the gov’t and quit the ego caressing lip service. Viewers also need to demand the best from their licence fee not everything revolves around football.
For the 200th millionth time WAKE UP!!

  7. I have faith in Mr Kanyama. Actually with him i expect znbc to compete with any media in the world. We nid de quality of super sport nd oders international 1s dat we use .On coverage, 2 opo wantu 2 cover them more on de expense of pjcts govt is doing

  8. There was some much expected of you Mr. Kanyama ……, impartiality in news coverage, professionalism at znbc, etc

  9. I have no faith in Chibamba Kanyama. He made grand plans with Irene and spent billions on those plans, travels, meetings, advertising, donations to politicians, cocktails with no concrete plan to turnaround once Mighty corporation. Irene and Chibama continued with grand plans and appeasing politicians, looking after PS and board members with bulky board papers, dishes out allowances and creating Mammoth ZSIC holding company whose CEO is a drain on ZSIC Life and ZSIC General. The demise of ZSIC started with Samakai who was a political appointee of MMD. His preoccupation was appeasing Penja and selling corporation properties, allocating houses and office space to MMD ministers who never paid rent, water and electricity.
Irene continued and Chibamba was a part of the scam. Alison tried to…

  10. Alison tried to turnaround the company but the workers who were used to loitering around and hefty salaries frustrated his strategic vision and got him hounded out.

Samakai started his broking company and stole from almost all insurance companies and now has started an insurance company Meanwood Insurance. Irene sits on the board of African Grey a company whose chief executive followed the footsteps of Samakai and never paid premiums to insurance companies. Mr. Libinga, the registrar of insurance is a useless person who allows all thieves to be licensed and has taken no action against insolvent companies run by these thieves.
One shall deal with Madison Life and Madison General , the only companies that are run by clean executives. ZSIC and African Grey are finished companies…

  11. ZNBC needs to attract educated people to propel the organization to international standards. I could not believe that in this day and age news casters and anchors can have less than a degree. Rigid Zombie news reading belongs to ancient journalism.

  12. too much poor programming resulting in high costs of infrastructure maintenance which this self styled economist doesnt see.
How many times do we ve programme overruns, intermitent disruptions, low level jokes by presenters, personal issues discussed by presenters on tv and general unprofessional conduct by znbc itself.

  13. iwe naiwe mwaice, whats a degree? We need performers not useless degrees gotten after u ve paid in kind. Look at zamtel, its as if run by a grade 7 and not a phd holder, its strategic business plan is so useless that even oitsiders can notice. Lapgreen showed direction but this man at the top, no business clue. I dont like pipo that peddle degree talk which cant deliever.

  14. If what I saw being televised beetwen Zambia and Botswana game is what people say is improved quality then I wonder if people really understanda and know what qulaity transmission is or should be. Maybe people are used to mediocrity such that they dont even know what must be qulaity picture on the TV sets.

  15. Mr. Kanyama said ZNBC is committed to seeing to it that the signal of its television and radio broadcasts is of the highest quality.
This sounds more like a 2011 pre-election campaign promise. Just improve the quality of the signal, don’t tell us anything. We want a good quality signal not promises.

  16. But mumuzonda Chibamba imwe bantu. He cant do anything without money. And in africa govt owned broadcasters cant do anything else except praise the ruling party. Ask zimbabwe Botswana malawi broadcasting corporations and they will all answer in unison “we are all his master’s voice!”

  17. The least of znbc’s problems should be improved reception, but it should be improved content, scheduled programs, and energetic presenters.

To this day I don’t know how long the main news is – is it 30 mins, 35, 45, 1 hour, no one knows, or maybe it depends on what needs to be reported.

At any time, a minister will come on TV and disturb that 50 year old show that no body was watching.

The presents lack enthusiasm, charisma and have little out no command of English – can’t learn to pronounce things correctly and make no effort to do so.

  18. Shame, 49 years after independence no ZNBC ratio reception in Ndola, especially kuma yard…. Chingola too ngani TV yena teyakulanda, niviakulolavie…..
