Ex Ghana Coach Le Roy tips Zambia to progress ahead of Ghana in WC qualifiers

Share

Ex Ghana Coach Claude Le Roy believes Zambia stand a better chance to qualify ahead of the Black Stars to the final round of the FIFA 2014 World Cup qualifiers.

Ghana need just a draw to qualify to the next stage as they lie on top of Group D with a one point advantage.

Zambia are now coached by Claude Le Roy’s protégée Renard Herve who was a member of the Frenchman’s coaching staff when he was in-charge of the Black Stars in 2008.

According to Le Roy, pressure will be on Ghana at the Baba Yara Stadium.

“Ghana have to draw at home and qualify for the next round and Zambia have to win but it will be more difficult for Ghana than Zambia,” said Le Roy

“I spoke to Herve Renard , they have everything to win in this game but it is also important for Ghana who wants to make a third appearance at the tournament after playing at the 2006 and 2010 World Cups.

“Ghana wants to be in Brazil to show that they are indeed the Black Stars but I think it will be difficult.”

    • We all know that Ghana will beat us. Ghana are under pressure, the media is under pressure, the referee is under prssure, etc etc….

      They’ll beat us 1 – 0 and I’ll laugh!!!! LOL!!!

  1. Zambia will win we ve beaten Ghana before. Nothing special abou them its
just that some zambians in mediocrity and inferiority complex. Be patrotic if are
    Zambian.

  2. Sour grapes Le Roy,Ghana has improved from the time they kicked your behind,we all know that Zambia does not stand a chance in Kumasi.Ghana looks sharper and stable,Appiah has done a good transformation. You should have watched them come back 2 nill down against strong Turkey in Turkey.

  3. Well Zambia has stopped losing of late either home or away, and again we have stopped wining away matches meaning the result is known… Claude Le Roy is Herve friend so he is entitled to his opinion… The game will be played on the pitch and not in people’s minds…!!

  4. They all have 90 minutes to play. Ghana has already smelt the “World cup” it is being naive to sit on the corner and pumper yourself that Zambia will win. Foot ball is played on the ground. Fair enough just say the one who takes an extra effort carry the day. You bet, lets see how it comes out.

  5. We know that Roy was the boss of Renard @ Cambridge United in England & so in Ghana. Renard also regard his former boss as the best coach in Africa. With that in mind, it is not strange to see Roy supporting Chipolopolo & that he was fired in Ghana. In reality, Roy is flattering us.

    • Exactly my sentiments….only a gullible would jubilate over such utterances by a compromised individual like Roy. The black Stars have improved tremendously since he left and the stats are not our favour. I would put this down to sour grapes.

  6. Lets not get ahead of ourselves, with the current standard of play…. lets not over rate our team. Am patriotic but let us improve the way we play… then we can win Calling a spade a BIG SPOON will not help thing, our play leaves much to be desired and living on hopes is more dangerous that being s.t.u.p.i.d…

  7. Zambia has to work hard to dislodge Ghana at home. This a must must win game for Zambia and I hope the technical bench have put their house on order.

  8. The man knows the weaknesses of his former team. All our boys and the coaching bench must do is to prepare adequately. Go boys Go.

  9. It will be a black day for the black stars on 06/09. Zambia will miraculously beat them by 2:1. I said miraculous……ly believe it or not; wait until we go to Kumasi and further, until the final whistle at the end of the 90′. On that the doubting Thomases will know the meaning of FAVOUR.

  10. Doom time and stop building castles in the air. This is just another world cup campaign disaster for Zambia which is nothing new and am sure Chipolopolo fans are used to world cup disappointments. The faint hopes of a slim chance to beat Ghana at home is a sign desperation knowing deep down our hearts that we have now reached the end of the road. Zambia eliminated themselves after drawing the 2 games they should have won. lets hope Ghana does not win by a lottery of goals. We know what they did to Lesotho and Sudan 7-1 and 4-0 respectively while Zambia drew with these team. Anyway on that day if you see pigs flying before the match, then no doubt Zambia is winning.

  11. I agree with Dr Doom, let’s face reality we messed up our chances by those two draws even after FIFA gave free points aganist Sudan. We can’t beat Ghana in Kumasi, the best we can do is a draw.
I love chipolopolo but this is just the fact.

  12. Couldn’t help but to Quote my Brother DR DOOM!!

“Anyway on that day if you see pigs flying before the match, then no doubt Zambia is winning”

    Lol
