The opposition UPND says it will not proceed with its planned street demonstrations tomorrow against Justice Lombe Chibesakunda’s continued stay at the helm of the Zambian judiciary.
UPND Deputy Secretary General Kuchunga Simusamba said the party has moved the demonstrations to Friday this week because of the three day national mourning declared by President Sata in honour of late Ben Mwila.
“We have shelved the march past which was to be held on Wednesday to Friday, we couldn’t proceed as earlier planned because of the national mourning, otherwise everything remains on course,” Mr. Simusamba said.
Mr. Simusamba said the UPND is convinced that Justice Chibesakunda is illegally occupying her position.
“For us this is a matter of principle, we cannot continue having Justice Chibesakunda as our Chief Justice,” he said.
He revealed that the march past will start from the UPND Secretariat on Friday at 10 Hours and marchers will move to the Supreme Court grounds to press for the resignation of Justice Chibesakunda.

And seriously speaking can HH and UPND occupy themselves with some archievable goal other than what they are currently doing. We are trying to sort out the sensetive Barotse blunder and you have all the time in the world to demontrate against someone who has more than 3 meals per day? Go to western province and distribute Milk from your farm to those children whose parents have not even less than a dollar per day, that would be the best demonstration that come 2016, you will have the veto to kick out Lady Chibs because the people will have voted for you into state huis , after proving to them that you can be their saviour.

There was a time when I said to myself that Mr Sata would never be president of Zambia. Better still even those close to him like the late FTJ echoed the same sentiments. When he broke away from the MMD to form his own political party I couldn’t see him getting anywhere. But alas and behold he is president. So to stand and rule out anybody, including HH, being president one day would be folly. The bible says “where there is life, there’s hope. When anybody against HH expresses their dislike for him and thinking he can never be president, they are merely expressing their opinion, they do not speak for everybody. The same way I was proved wrong on president Sata, the same is very possible to those who oppose HH or indeed anybody.

Justice, you seem to be missing a point. HH and His Excellency MCS are two different individuals with complete different backgrounds. MCS is a political heavy weight while HH is under five or antenatal politician. Now you know the difference.

I usually find solace in this one thing and this being that “time will tell”. So let us wait and see how things go. As for the intended protest, I just pray there won’t be any casualties though chances are high that there might be since the UPND has not been given a go ahead by the police and so this demo will be met with alot of resistance.

Whats this about Tonga and Bemba? Cant u vote without looking at tribe? Am tonga but i have close friends among the luos and chibesakundas,at the last coun by the un prnject noah they were 1.5m pure tongas in zambia and 2.5 m bemba but i had rather we work together voting for quality not tribe.

I propose that GRZ should enact a law against tribalism and campaign against it the way it is doing against HIV, racism (as they have done in Europe, Australia,New zealand etc) b4 tribalism claims lives.
