SENIOR Chieftainess Nkomeshya Mukamambo II of the Soli people in Chongwe District has said she is non-partisan but supports the government of the day so that she can be a catalyst for development in her chiefdom.

She ‘rubbished’ claims by some sections of society accusing her of being partisan.

Chieftainess Nkomeshya said her critics should draw a distinction between working with the ruling party and the Government of the day.

She said this when members of the Muslim Social and Welfare Trust (MSWT) in the company of Community, Development, Mother and Child Health Deputy Minister Dorothy Kazunga paid a courtesy call on her in Chongwe yesterday.

She said some people were accusing her of being aligned to the Patriotic Front (PF) because of her presence at some Government functions involving developmental projects in her chiefdom.

“My role as a traditional leader is to work with the Government of the day and not the political party of the day. I know that the ruling party is the mother of the Government, but there, my constitution does not allow me. I can’t talk about any political activities, no, but Government.

“It is my duty to see that the projects that are coming into the chiefdom I support them. I lead the way although some people have accused me,” she said.

She said supporting a political party was not in her jurisdiction and thus she would not be present if a Government official was conducting political activities.

The traditional ruler cited May 23, 2013 when President Michael Sata commissioned the 61 kilometer road project as well as the laying of a foundation stone for the construction of Chalimbana University in Chongwe District and other functions saying she received some criticism soon after the events.

“I was seen there, but now people are accusing me of being partisan. I say no, that is wrong. That is Government. A Government project I will be there. When the President is here, the Minister is here talking about developments of this chiefdom, I will be there.

“Those who are accusing me to be partisan, they should know their boundaries. My role is to work with the Government of the day. Also my role, as a chieftainess, if the Government of the day is not doing well, I will speak on behalf of the people, criticise it for it to be able to deliver services to the people,” she said.

She said no one would stop her from praising Government on behalf of her subjects if the State delivered according to expected standards.

She also urged her subjects not to entirely be dependent on Government to render services to the area, but that they should meet the State half way by uniting and helping themselves.

Reacting to Chieftainess Nkomeshya’s remarks, Ms Kazunga said she was elated that the chieftainess had clarified the difference between supporting the Government of the day and a political party.

  1. Mpezeni and her are overtly partisan. It is plain to see. They both know it is wrong and hence her guilty feeling making her try to justify her stance.

    • Madiba i dont agree with you, you know guys sometimes we are quick to judge because we let our emotions and personnal feelings inclined towards the people and situations influence our judgement. Well sometimes we are right sometimes not, she might see what we dont cos we are watching from afar, now dont get me wrong but i can never compare her to Mpezeni whom i dont know well though i feel she’s much aligned to her subsconsciousness better than him. That said… she must see something that gives her hope, i believe that 100% she knows PF under Sata will achieve something tangiable given ample time, there maybe hickups as expected in every situation but i know she sees developement as such she chooses to give it a chance, besides she has freedom to choose who she feels deserves her…

    • I think people here are just bitter because although they are educated, they are neither chiefs nor in government. They have not been brought up to be irrelevant, but unfortunately that is exactly what they are

  6. Historically, every king or queen called ‘the second’ has been a disaster. Queen Elizabeth dropped that now.

  7. FU.SEKI KA KOMESHYA,YOU ARE AMONG USELESS CHIEFS IN ZAMBIA.
JUST WAIT WE WILL SORT YOU OUT IN 2016 BUT FOR THE MEAN TIME
LET ME GIVE YOU A PIECE OF ADVICE,
    SHUT YOUR FU..CKED UP BEAK.

  8. Looks like someone has realized how much pf is a spent force with no chance in 2016.

She taught sylvia very well. political prostitution

  9. She is the one who threatened Japhen Mwakalombe after winning the Chongwe seat in 2011 to resign and pave way for Sylvia Masebo.

  10. Elizabeth mulenje is not even a descendant of mukamaambo 1 her clan the ngombes are congolese, she is a slave of the oriinal bakuli clan, atase, just shut up.

  11. This bitch Nkomesha will stop at nothing evening dropping her slizzy pants to a man of God so that she can get the favours that she wants. Look what she did on poor Mwakalombe, intimidated the guy and elavated Hule Masebo Tembo to the position which she wanted her to be. Now she is the House of Chiefs Chairperson, this all she wanted and she has even put her Hule daughter as a councilor, she wants things that go to her house period. What is she is talking about ati I am not partisan,? Not Partisan my foot. Unless she changes her way of doing things, there will be no Development in Chongwe. She is so greed that she wants to have hands into everything. Plots at Silverest school, she got 10 of them, why should a Chieftainess start fighting with subjects for land when she plenty of it? Hule.

  12. We all know and have seen for ourselves what she is. A PF cadre period!! No amount of denial will cleanse her deeds.

  13. Have a feeling she knows Sata will be soon be no more, strategy is the word in order to be acceptable by the in-coming regime. Unfortunately she has undressed herself enough for anyone to know what she looks like (characteristically).

  14. This Nkomesha woman must not underestimate people’s intelligence. It was all there for all to see that she is a PF cadre from way back. Now that she has seen how the Pathetic F.ools have failed the people of Zambia, she wants to reposition herself as well. Its too late; we know who and what you are. The best you can do is sh.ut up.

  15. I hate double-dippers. Nail your colors to the mast instead of this pretending you are fooling anyone.

You support PF. Stop the ‘Non-Partisan’ nonsense

  16. This chief speaks sense. As a bequeathed leader one should support the govt of the day only. Even the queen of Britain does the same
