A Public Policy Expert has noted the need for Republican President Michael Sata to provide serious policy direction as he opens the Third Session of the Eleventh National Assembly this Friday.
Dr Neo Simutanyi said there are so many issues that are not going well in the country hence the need for policy direction from the Head of State.
Dr. Simutanyi who is also Center for Policy Dialogue Executive Director said that it is sad that the last policy statement by the President lacked policy issues.
He said that it will be imperative for the President to help the citizenry understand whether the country is moving in the right direction.
Dr. Simutanyi added that it is unfortunate that there is still no clear policy guideline on devolution of power it being one of the core policy priorities of the PF government.
And Institute for Finance & Economics Zambia President, Caleb Fundanga says the Head of State should address the issues of high unemployment levels in the country an issue he noted has raised a lot of debate.
Dr. Fundanga who is also Former bank of Zambia Governor is optimistic that President Sata will present a general policy statement on the creation of jobs and new investments.
And Zambians for Empowerment and Development president Fred Mutesa says opposition political parties want to hear how the Head of State is going to guide the nation in creating a level political playing field for all political parties.
Dr Mutesa observes that the administration of the public order Act has been contentious as it is tilted in the favour of the ruling party.

Ya he needs to provide alternatives to the many unresolved issues. The .president will unveil but work will have been done by technocrats.wish him well.

Not possible, they have No Direction, It’s all GUESS WORK. Biggest problem is that PF is full of mediocrity Policies that never stand as SATA does whatever he dreams of executing the following morning. I put my argument that todate I have not seen a tangible, systemic, Vision / Roadmap or Plans for their deliveries in their first term in Power. They work in the old fashioned way forgetting that we are in 21st century and priorities have changed. PF OLD PAPAS SHOULD BE KICKED OUT COME 2016. They are useless weakest links and a shame to Zambians. Look at another OLD PS they have just sworn in. Job Seekers, Job keepers. No contribution. Sleeping on Duty to Impress SATA.

It is by now abundantly evident and accepted nationally and internationally, that President Sata is completely incapable of providing any serious policy directions of any shape and form and staying on course. Of all people, Dr. Neo Simutanyi, a Public Policy Expert knows this deficit in the President. So, by insisting and trying to extract from the President that which is evidently absent, isn’t Simutanyi making his credentials questionable? Or am I missing something here?
