Forum for Democracy and Development (FDD) president Edith Nawakwi has accused Ministers in the Patriotic Front Government of frustrating President Michael Sata’s vision to transform the country.

President Sata earlier this week scoffed at his minister for failing to explain to the Zambian people the achievements the PF government has scored since coming to power two years ago.

Ms Nawakwi observed that the Ministers’ poor handling of issues is frustrating the Head of State. She said the Ministers lack direction in delivering to the expectations of the majority Zambians.

Ms Nawakwi added that it is unfortunate that all the Ministers are failing to defend the president by explaining to the people issues affecting the nation.

And Ms. Nawakwi said the wrangles and violence that have characterized the Patriotic Front recently have exposed the ruling party to the Zambian people.

She said that the Patriotic Front should know that they have just de-campaigned themselves out of power and that there will be no need for the opposition to de-campaign them in 2016.

    • miss nawakwi is very confusing. what do you mean ministers are failing the president? i have said it before on this forum that nawakwi nevers condemns sata. there is something fishy between her and the president. she always goes for the ministers and not the man who needs to give direction not only to his cabinet but the nation as a whole. what is your agenda madam nawakwi kanshi?

  1. Listen to this lady? Ministers didn’t appoint themselves. Blame the President who appointed them. It is his cabinet of choice. He chose to surround himself with 70% of people who speak his language. We are been constantly told by his cadres that these are the people he is comfortable working with. Any other person who would do what this President is doing would be called a TRIBALIST.

    • @Zedman,while I do not belong to any political party I would like to urge you to understand limitations the President contended with. The people he appointed are his MPs. Where could he found other MPs to appoint into his cabinet without being accused of undermining the opposition? His MPs just happen to come from areas dominated by Bemba Speakers but I think that was not his wish as you could observe on how he stayed loyal to those who supported him but hail from other regions. From Western he has Mrs Inonge Wina and Nathaniel Mubukwanu as MPs one is a full Cabinet Minister and another a Deputy, from Southern Province he had no MP hence nobody but those Southerners who stood with PF on the Copperbelt are Ministers ( Wilbur Simusa and Luxon Kazabu) and so on! It is the Constitution at play!

  2. The appointing authority must have the ability to scrutinize the people he puts in power,he must look at their CV and ensure they are capable, because when they fail, it’s him who has failed. The raise and fall of every organization, raises and falls on its leadership.

  3. The question is whether President Sata himself is capable. When did he address us outlining what he intends to do for me!!!

He has failed to lead by example, got no right to put scorn on his Ministers, who’ve failed to continue with the bufi campaigns.

  4. if archievements are there, there is no need for the ministers to start explaining to us,we have eyes, ears and other senses. Its just that no development has taken place since pf came into power…so dont force people to see things that are not there, the fact is that ba pf nabafilwa.period.

  5. I think Mr Sata is too old to be president and his healthy problem has contributed to his bad performance. This how come winter and gbm felt that there can do better than him.If the man is real to himself it would be good for him to do a term or even resign like pope Benedict did.Infact he would have more respect than want i see his end would be.

  6. What vision are you blabbing about? Police state, dictatorship, incompetence, rampant corruption, tribalism, nepotism? Please be more specific.

  7. God gave us human beings two eyes, ears & one mouth so that we see , hear more & talk less. Your deeds are campaigning for you. Rich&wise men don’t boast only fools.

  8. President Sata has the right to appoint any member of parliament to his cabinet . I mean Full cabinet position. If the president if the President feels let down by his minister he should appoint experienced people in those positions not deputy ministers as is the case with those appointed he will see a change. We have able men and women in the opposition capable to help run this country and help the president achieve his goals.

  9. Kikikiki. He told us in choosing ministers, he goes for brains not tribe. Today, he is complaining that they are not delivering. The contradictions are endless and part of me wonders whether they don’t stem from a limited intellectual capacity to see issues and strategise accordingly. Plus what benchmarks are used to assess these ministers? Have performance discussions been held to arrive at this conclusion? Or is it just based on the President’s subjective view of what they should and should not be doing? And hasn’t he himself failed to represent the country internationally? Isn’t this part of his job description? Zambia today is non-existent on the international scene.

  10. It must be a total nightmare to be a Cabinet Minister under MCS, I can understand their dilemma if they are seen to be vocal they face the chopping board, if they are silent they are castigated. Even the once vocal Bob Sichinga ni Ziiiii!

Well at the end of the day the Ministers need to show character and backbone. In order to avoid being constantly pounded, just resign like the principled MP from Kalabo who stepped down not long after having been sworn in, instead of hanging in there voiceless, drawing huge salaries and sitting allowances.

Otherwise MCS is justified to continue castigating, walloping and pounding you in public. It must be a very difficult even for the Ministers’ families.

    • This is what you get if you are grown up man without principles or you forego your principles because of money. Some of them will start dying with BP because of the constant scolding from their president.

  11. I agree with Nawakwi ministers are appointed to push for development and inform the public of such, it can’t be left to the head of state…..but VP is supposed to supervise ministers what is he doing also…..but on the other hand its been see every time a minister makes any remarks his attacked, criticized left right center or the president will make some pronouncements contrarily to what a minister said…Cabinet seem disorganized not united to some extent…my thoughts

    • Who is supposed to straighten out the Cabinet which you claim is disorganised and not united? The Veep??? Or the appointing authority??? The President chairs Cabinet so isn’t he the right person to sort out any mess associated with Cabinet?

  12. Mr Truman, a former United States president had a sign on his desk at the oval office which read, ‘The buck stops here’. That simply meant he took full responsibility of all the shortcomings of his government. So Miss Nawakwi should not blame the incompetent ministers but the one who appointed them. Simple as that!

  13. Ba Nawakwi, that’s like saying a bad worker should blame his tools! The buck stops with Ba Sata ( or Bo Sata as our brothers and sisters would say).

  14. No. I chose to disagree with you Edith. Sata is the one confusing his Ministers with his lack of direction. He seldom holds cabinet meetings. And his bedfellows are violent cadres. Why do you want to behave like Katele Kalumba who talks nonsense these days every time he opens his mouth. Your looking for a job from Sata is so loud. Ni ciani so?
