Magande questions logic behind police permit to PF cadres

Share

The opposition National Movement for Progress (NMP) has questioned the logic by police to allow Patriotic Front (PF) youths to protest against Justice Minister Wynter Kabimba at State House.

NMP president Ng’andu Magande has wondered why the police would allow a large group of PF youths to demonstrate against an individual citizen who is also PF Secretary General when the opposition in the country has continued to be denied permission to hold peaceful demonstrations which are of national interest.

Mr. Magande who is also former Finance Minister notes that if such a trend as is being exhibited by the police is allowed to continue in the country, it will be become very difficult for people in the country to relate to one another and live in harmony and peace.

Mr. Magande has observed that it is wrong for the police who are supposed to maintain law and order, to start encouraging conflicts amongst citizens in the country as they did by allowing PF youths to demonstrate against Mr. Kabimba.

Mr. Magande was speaking to Qfm in an interview.

  1. Bwana Magande are you just learning that we’re unequally yoked before the law? Welcome to Zed where PF animals are more equal than others.

  2. we cant take this any longer uncle Joe.
u are squeezing our toes and u expect us to b quiet. But for how long?
Its like these pf cadres have bcm mo important than the voters.
Somebody said that the police are proffessional.I think its an illusion to think that these pipo will ever change.

  3. Sata’s so called government does not respect the dignity and the right to self-determination of Zambian people. It wans people to live according to its dictates, not the dictates of Zambian conscience. Its rule of law is not clear at all. It is inconsistent, inconsistent, partial and unjust. This government harasses, bullies, punishes, an threaten organizations that defend people’s rights. It perpetuates its power by fostering rampant corruption in Zambian courts through the discredited Interim Chief Justice, DPP, and Minister of Justice (examples abound: journalists, elections) . Its police summons an arrest people for having the audacity to tell the truth. In addition, it suppresses people’s rights by disallowing demonstrations and protests.

  4. I have no symphathy with any former leader talking against the stupid public order act law as they had chance to repeal it when in gorverment but they all shy away once in power. Starting with Chiluba, levy, RB refused to repeal it as it was used to stifle opposition. So Sata is also using it

  5. We as citizens don’t know what to do politicians just drag as into whatever mess they feel like. I remember how General Miyanda championed this public order act, which came back to haunt him when he was out of govt. Magande was in Mwanawasa’s govt and did not appear to se what was wrong with this act. Now he is ‘saddened by it. As far as the Cabinet Ministers all is well until they are on the wrong side of the fence. It’s all about choking the opposition for now. Building democratic structures is off the agenda for now.

  6. Have you ever wondered why the “service” usually recruits the garbage that others can’t employ? Even the few brilliant ones get affected. Don’t expect the Police to behave above their average intelligence.
