Nkana drop back to second place

Zesco United returned to the top of the table after a 1-0 home win over bottom placed Forest Rangers.

However, Zesco had defending champions Zanaco to thank for their return to the top after their 10-men held Nkana to a 1-1 draw in Lusaka.

Zesco’s lone goal came from striker Akakandelwa Mwachiaba who struck the target in the 2nd minute.

And at Sunset Stadium in Lusaka, Stephen Phiri put Zanaco ahead in the 2nd minute before Donashano Malam equalised four minutes later.

Zanaco were later reduced to ten men when Davis Mwape was sent off in the 65th minute for a second bookable offence.

Nkana were unfortunate not to leave Sunset with the three points after striker Festus Mbewe’s shot was cleared off the line by Ziyo Tembo.

Meanwhile Zesco shift to 45 points, one more than Nkana as the two sides swap positions in what is slowly turning out to be a two-horse race for the 2013 title.

Zanaco on the other hand are 5th on 37 points after the draw.

And Power Dynamos extended their unbeaten run to four games after a 1-1 home draw against Roan United in Kitwe.

Lubambo Musonda put them ahead in the 17th minute before Roan equalised through Chileshe Kabwe in the 24th.

Power wasted a chance for the third points in between those two goals when Maybin Chishimba’s 8th minute penalty was saved.
