Kapeya challenges the church to reconcile political arena

Share

Minister of Broadcasting and Information Services Mwansa Kapeya has challenged the church to spearhead reconciliation among political players in the country.

Mr. Kapeya said the hostility that existed in the political arena and the perception of political parties seeing each other as enemies was retrogressive.

The Minister said this at the consecration ceremony of Reverend Paul Bupe of the Redeemed Methodist Church at the Cathedral of the HolyCcross in Lusaka today.

The Minister said government was looking up to the church to help promote dialogue as this would lead to resolution of differences amicably.

Mr. Kapeya further said that Zambia was preparing for its Golden Jubilee next year hence the church should help the Zambian society rediscover the One Zambia One Nation motto.

He said the motto was what had kept Zambia together hence it must be revived.

And Bishop Paul Bupe said he will fight injustice and seek to impart the nation with the gospel as Christ had called him.

He said his church will by all means supplement government’s efforts in combating corruption and other vices for a better Zambia.

Bishop Bupe pledged to build strong relationships among families as this would help in the reduction of broken homes.

  1. It is PF which is supposed to confess and repent of its sins. They wire bishops pastors in the Holy Place of God. That is why they are passing through what they are. Even if Kabimba left PF, fights shall continue because there is an evil spirit in PF party until they come to humble themselves before the Lord then will they be heard (2 Chronicles 7:14; Isaiah 59:1-2).

    • Kapeya insulted Nawakwi when she pleaded with the Church to pray for them. The same mouth is asking for prayers from the Church. You sent cadres to beat up people in Matero.

    • Typical. People only remember the Lord when they have problems. Now the Church is useful to PF. Just yesterday the Church was been told to stay out of politics and others were even beaten at a pray service at BIGOCA in Matero.

  2. Mr. Kapeya sir, politicians must take care of their political maturity. The church can not force people who do not wish to change. The politicians run the political arena, and THEY need to change. As voters we should also use our votes wisely. Of course if the church can handle this task its all good, but at the end of the day the Onus is on politicians and law enforcement.

  3. Statements of convenience. You only want to be advised when it suits you and in most cases when the church offers advice which politicians feel is exposes their lack of performance, the politicians overlook the advice. You can not pick and choose

  4. Differences among Politicians and supporters should be issue based rather than personal attacks. Deliberate attacks at each other expecting the church to play reconciliatory role will be a daylight mockery to Christian fraternity.

  5. Kapeya, that is what we call childish proclamations. Before you spoke, you should have asked the pastor for some help on what to say. You are never polished enough to say anything boy. If the politicians had any word of God, any word I said, nothing would be happening as it is. Ciza uli?
