Share

Collins Mbesuma inspired Orlando Pirates to a 1-0 away win over Maritzburg United on Wednesday night.

The Zambia striker struck a fine shot in the 30 minutes to hand Pirates their second win of the season from four games as they play catch-up with the rest of the pack with six games in hand after completing their CAF Champions League obligations.

Mbesuma’s goal was also his first of the 2013/2014 season following his recent recovery from a one-and-a-month long injury layoff.

The Zambia striker started Wednesday evenings match before he was substituted in the 69th minute and replaced by Lennox Bacela.

Meanwhile, Pirates host Bloemfontein Celtic in their next game on Saturday night.

  1. Mayuka scored for FC Sochaux just a few days ago, Mbesuma scored for Orlando Pirates… Rumors that Kondwani Mtonga, Nathan Sinkala, and Chisamba Lungu are on Renard’s radar for the January transfer window… Ah… It feels good! The local boys will begin their campaign to pursue the CECAFA cup. It is well.

  2. Well done Ntofontofo! You have proved that you’re one of Zambia’s best finishers despite your ups and downs. May the ‘soup’ continue flowing… don’t forget the remittances, please. City ya Moto and Gunners (and to a small extent Liverpool) for life.

    Solola Bye!

  3. I watched the game, it was a very easy goal, even GBM would have slotted it in , so MBESUMA is not great , needs to score original goals

    • A goal is a goal its an easy one or not as long as its credited to you, you are the scorer. Mbesuma is a utility player who assists other players to score like he did in the game against supersport united where his assist in a double one two resulted in Pirates’s second and final goal of the night that took them into the finals of the Telkom cup final against Platinum Stars.
