Zesco United have made six signings for the 2014 season.

The major highlight of the signings is Zambia midfielder Justin Zulu who joins them on a three year deal.

Zulu joins Zesco as a free agent following his release from SA PSL club Golden Arrows.

The midfielder enjoyed a brief stint at Kabwe Warriors in the last phase of the 2013 season and was also part of Zambia’s 2013 Cecafa cup team that finished third at the just-ended tournament in Kenya.

Also joining on a permanent move is striker Akakulubelwa Mwachiaba who earlier joined Zesco on a six month deal in July from 2014 promoted club Indeni.

Konkola Mine Police striker Lazarous Kambole and defender Kellys Sichilya from Konkola Blades have also joined the Ndola club.

Zesco meanwhile, has signed two players on loan.

Nchanga Rangers midfielder Cletus Chota who was on loan at Power Dynamos this year joins Zesco for the next 12 months.

Zambia Under-20 defender Bornwell Silengo from Rimon Academy also joins on loan to complete the six new signings after spending the last six months on the Nkana bench.

Meanwhile, Zesco striker Lottie Phiri has quit the club just two seasons after rejoining them from Mpumalanga Black Aces.

“We also wish to inform our stakeholders and fans that Lottie Phiri has tendered in his notice of resignation from the club due to personal reasons. We have accepted his letter and we wish him all the best in his future endeavors,” Zesco media officer Chengo Katebe said in a statement.

Zesco finished second in the 2013 season to book their CAF 2014 Confederation Cup place.

They enjoy a preliminary round bye and await winner of the Ferroviario Beira of Mozambique versus Tanzanian club Azam away in the first round, first leg in the last week of February.

  1. Justine Zulu best wishes with Zaga aka Zescolo team ya Zico. Zulu it was incredible getting to chat with you at KK International last month as you were on your way to Kenya with the squad.

  2. You need 3 to 4 foreign players. And, possibly, a coach with international experience too. Cheap investments will always bring you cheap results. If you think I’m wrong, just study the history of these competitions and you’ll see the bare truth for yourselves.

  3. Nkana and Zesco are not ready to represent Zambia. The players they are buying have no experience, both teams will be booted out in second round.
