Power and Gor Mahia in Situmbeko standoff

Share

Julius Situmbeko could find himself in trouble with FIFA after both Power Dynamos and Gor Mahia both claimed ownership of the player.

The Kenyan champions Gor Mahia insist they have a valid contract with the Power and Zambia midfielder after agreeing terms with the player in early December.

“It is sad that after we agreed terms with Julius Situmbeko who signed a contract dated 7th December and we even paid him the sign on fee as agreed the player has failed to arrive,” Gor Mahia general secretary George Bwana told SuperSport.

“We followed the laid down Fifa rules as the player was categorical his contract was ending in December 2013.”

However, Power Dynamos have stated that Situmbeko signed a long-term contract with them this season whom he join from K-Stars.

“Situmbeko’s contract is still valid and it was not a loan deal. He is contracted to Power Dynamos,” Power club secretary Ricky Mafunda said.

Mafunda added that Gor Mahia had never contacted them over Situmbeko and as far as they were concerned the player was strictly on Zambia duty when the Nairobi club signed him on during the 2013 Cecafa Cup in Kenya.

The midfielder, meanwhile, has been going about his business at Arthur Davies Stadium in Kitwe with his Power teammate after the team resumed pre-season training on December 20.

    • Gor Mahia awe ba situmbeko then just sign a contract with Nkana fooball club aba red you will never go wrong because the contract terms are far much better than a kenyan club.

  1. Ba mutuele mwanana aye kwa KENYA. Maybe Kenya club wil be a BETTER for him, he wants champions club than POWER unles if he was playing to the club of “12 TIME CHAMPION”.

  2. Which situmbeko are we talking about you mean the former finance minister LOZI chap has started jogging now? hmmm…zambians are funny you go to CECAFA and hammer the host ka VAT?? wapyamo noku pyamo

  3. zambian players, they dont learn.the problem is juju usage.issues of contract is suppose to be handled by managers who are in a good position to interpret the conditions.the players are fast in getting kick backs without understanding what they are signing for.

  4. This makes very sad reading for me (and many others, too). Why this trend in our footballing world? First, I blame FAZ, then our desperate clubs, and finally the players.
Please Ba FAZ do something to stop this rot! I suggest that you regularly hold sensitization seminars for clubs; also, every time any of our national teams’ are in camp give required classes for this issue, money/business, and other related issues, relentlessly.
Thank you very much if you have been doing this already; but the fact that the problem is still there spells the need to double up your efforts. We love y’all, and we want to see FAZ and our young men and women prosper. Please also understand our deep concern for our entire game. Your success or failure is inevitably ours, too.

  5. these players lack proper guidance on how to handle contractual obligations because of little education. The Kenyan team is equally at fault! how do you sign a player minus consulting the club he plays for. even if the player told them that his contract ended, as professionals they were suppose to make a follow up with the club he played for just to be certain. i don’t think Kenya is the best destination for that player! Gor Mahia acted as if they were signing a player from the street.

  6. Desperation as usual, infact it is coupled with theifing here why did he sign and collect cash yet he’s not appearing ha! ndate you are found with Musonda too much hence learning a lot from him.

  7. Read the article, upto the point i saw the term K-Stars, and it all made sense. Yep it ain’t the first[and probably not the last] time the man behind the K-Stars outfit is entangled in such double dealing.
Surely the man must not have an aorta of shame in him. Nxa!!!

  8. This chap moved to Power from Konkola Blades. Power is now facing the same problem Blades faced with this boy before he joined them. Useless boy.

  9. We shall find a better replacement for him here in Kenya. Let the busy bodies who are offering him unsolicited “expert advise” take note and mid what they say about Kenya and particularly Gormahia.
