TIZ worry over ACC slow pace of investigation in misappropriation of public funds

Share

Transparency International Zambia (TIZ) has expressed concern with the slow pace of investigations by the Anti Corruption Commission into allegations of misappropriation of public funds cited in the 2011 Auditor General’s report.

During a media briefing yesterday, ACC Spokesperson, Timothy Moono disclosed that of the 62 cases cited in the 2011 Auditor General’s report, only 47 cases have been investigated with just 3 cases concluded and closed in 2013.

But TIZ Executive Director Goodwell Lungu says the pace at which the ACC is investigating the cases cited in the Auditor General’s report gives a gloomy impression.

Mr Lungu says this allows the culprits to continue misappropriating public funds because the ACC may not catch up with them in record time.

He notes that it should not take the ACC time to investigate cited cases when facts and evidence are readily available to substantiate allegations that public funds were misappropriated.

Mr. Lungu says the only time people will be afraid to abuse public resources is when they see that the reports of the Auditor General are being acted upon positively

  2. That’s how efficient Wandi is? Only 3 cases – check that against the total payroll cost of ACC staff per year. I dont know how someone can employ Wandi as Director of something she is useless.

  3. Democracy was not meant for Africans!
An African works best with a Sjambook on his back!
Africa was better off under white rule.
A white man is more humane than an African.
A white man considers the plight of lowly Animals and builds them hospitals and Ambulances!
An African’s hands are like termites! Everything an African touches turns to naught!
Africans can’t plan for themselves and someone has to do it for them!
Tony Blair was right: Africa is a scar on the world conscious!
It is a mistake for the White man to leave Africans to their own devices!
See how they oppress one another and how undemocratic this species is?

    • Hence your ‘name’ “Dim Wit”; your inferiority complex is a danger to society. Scripture says “all men are created equal”. So, in your mentally-enslaved mind this is not true. How sad!
