Concerned Freedom fighters in Kasama have dispelled assertions that Patriotic Front (PF) President Michael Chilufya Sata’s parents are from Tanzania.
NORTHERN Province Freedom Fighters Association Vice Chairman Daniel Mutale says those who were saying that Mr. Sata’s parents were from Tanzania did not know him too well.
The freedom fighter says he personally stayed with Mr. Sata’s family in Mpika and at no time did he discover that the president’s parents hailed from Tanzania.
Mr. Mutale was referring to a report in one of the daily tabloids attributed to a named opposition political party leader indicating that president Sata’s parents came from Tanzania.
He has advised people talking about the origin of president’s Sata’s parents to stop misleading the nation as they have no proof over the matter.
Mr Mutale appealed to Zambians not to be swayed by what he referred to as cheap politics by people who were not happy with the development initiatives that President Michael Sata has brought in the country.
The Freedom Fighter said President Michael Sata has demonstrated a good style of leadership since he came into office adding that all forward looking citizens needed to embrace his mantle of leadership so that the country can develop to greater heights.
Meanwhile, Mr Mutale has appealed to the youths in the country to rally behind the president so that he can fulfill a number of development initiatives he promised them during campaigns in 2011.
He said the youths should desist from being used as tools to cause trouble in the nation adding that such tendencies were retrogressive to development.

My studies on the Zambia’s fight for independence does not mention such a strange name of **Daniel Mutale** as a Freedom Fighter. The only notable Freedom Fighters from Northern Province are: Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe, Robert Makasa, Lewis Changufu, Chibesa Kankasa, KK of Malawian origin,Titus Mukupo, and the then youths such as Alexander Chikwanda and Peter Chanda .
Where was this fossil called “Daniel Mutale” exhumed from?
This kind of desperation is a smoke-screen to hide the truth that the Bemba Chiefs will soon reveal. Sata himself has cast his own confusion by claiming to be a Bemba when he grew up in Bisaland – in Mpika.
Most Zambians and genuine Bembas in particular, know very well that Sata is an invasive Mwakyusa species from Tanzania.

For those wishing to know how the Bembas and Bisa came to be, they migrated into Zambia as one Luba group under the leadership of brothers Chiti and Nkole. When they reached Luchindashi a row ensued between Chilufya Mulenga (Chiti’s sister) and her cousin Chanda. It was at this point that Chiti split the group into two. One group later called itself Bisa and the other Bemba.
I doubt if this freedom fighter is real.

“Freedom fighter” Daniel Mutale is a poisonous mushroom sprouting under the PF regime. One has to look at the current age of the living UNIP and ANC youths (Rupiah Banda, Alexander Chikwanda Martin Jangulo, Daniel Munkombwe, Vernon Mwanga) as genuine freedom fighters. Other notable youths are the late Jethro Muthi and Peter Chanda.
It is shameful for a genuine Bemba freedom fighter to rise up and despise the Institution of Chitimukulu – just for the sake of earning few pieces of silver.
Students of political science are advised to read a book by an American historian, Prof. Robert Rotberg titled: “The Rise of Nationalism in Central Africa: The Making of Malawi and Zambia, 1873-1964. Daniel Mutale and his President Sata are misfits in the history of Zambia.
Some bloggers are telling us that the Bembas and Bisas are from the same clan just to prove that Sata is a Bemba. This is not credible, ‘BUFI’.
Studies reveal that some names in northern Zambia are unifying factors. Such names as Bwalya, Bwembya, Chalwe, Chanda, Changwe, Chibale, Chibesa, Chiluba, Chilufya, Chisenga, Chishala, Kabanda, Kaluba, Kalunga, Malama, Mofya, Mwaba, Mwape, Mwewa, Mwila, are shared by the people geographically found in Luangwa Valley, Chinsali, Mpika, Serenje, Mukushi and Luapula Provice.
Such names as Chileshe, Kasonde, Mubanga, Mukuka, Mulenga, Musonda, Mutale, Mwamba, are significant in Chinsali, Kasama, Luwingu, Mporokoso.
The creation of the Luapula Province was based on ethnicity (or genetic relationships) of Lunda clans related to Bisas and Lalas.
