Italy reduced Shepolopolo’s plans of a dream 2014 FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup debut in Costa Rica after beating the Zambians 2-0 on Sunday morning in a Group A opener in San Jose.

Zambia and Venezuela clash in the 01h00 kick off match on Wednesday morning at the National Stadium in San Jose Venezuela top Group A after thumping hosts Costa Rica 3-0 in the opener while Shepolopolo are third in Group A on zero points, Italy are second.

Zambia coach Albert Kachinga has predicted a tough encounter against Venezuela.

Zambia’s last Group A match is against Costa Rica on 22 March.

  1. The little girls are not going anywhere. They lack tactical approach to the game with no strikers at all. A loss to Venezuela will mark the end of the false dream. They are simply tourists in Costa Rica world tournerment!
It is just an eyeopener pe-say. They will soon come back to join us at home eating nshima. After all they are even not determined to reach far, all said still wish them good luck. Be mindful, Costa Rica as a host were white-washed by Venezuela 3-0!!

  2. I saw something good in that team. We just need to improve on the stricking and deffence. The girls looked good (infact better than Italy) in my own observation. Let them not play with fear. they should remember what they did to South Africa.
    I wish them well.

  3. Let me educate the masses: Chipolopolo means a gun and this word was famous during the liberation struggles in Southern Africa. It has no feminine or male noun. This is the reason we call our national team Chipolopolo Boys and NOT “Hepolopolo”. The ladies national team is supposed to be referred to as “Chipolopolo Girls” and NOT Shepolopolo”. Are we really so dull that we can not see this mistake! Goodness me!

    • Unfortunately it has been adopted everywhere and by everyone. It is annoying. We need to correct this by submitting officailly to FIFA and CAF that our teams will be called “Chipolopolo boys” and Chipolopolo girls” for the guys and girls respctively. And that can change how our teams are called.
