Standard Chartered bank Zambia has partnered with the Zambia National Broadcasting Corporation ZNBC in a bid to increase access to financial and business information in the country.
The bank announced that it will sponsor a weekly business review program which will start airing on the national broadcaster’s TV1 in may.
Speaking when the two institutions signed the partnership agreement at Lusaka’s Pamodzi hotel this morning Standard Chartered bank Zambia Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Andrew Okai said the bank wanted to give equal opportunities to people in accessing financial and business information regardless of where they are in the country.
Mr Okai emphasized the importance of accurate economic information especially in a country with so much economic activities Zambia.
He said there is need for business stories across the country to be told hence the program provides a good platform for telling the stories.
And Mr Okai called on the public to ensure that the debate on the country’s economic and business development issues is healthy and objective.
He said there is need for people in the country to unite and use the available resources to drive the country’s economy forward.
“The people, residents and indeed friends of Zambia must play an active role in the discourse of the country’s development. We need to have a healthy, objective debate around key economic issues and business development.” Mr Okai said.
And speaking at the same function ZNBC Director General Chibamba Kanyama said the corporation is excited to re-launch the Business Review television program.
“This is good content which will resonate with the business community including the SMEs as it will provide relevant information highlighting the economic and business trends prevailing in the country as well as on the international scene.” Said Mr Kanyama.
The program was last aired on ZNBC over 18 years ago.

Uuuh, 18 years ago? It seems like yesterday, awe kanshi natukota mwe.
But seriously I too used to hate that program… not really sure maybe I was young but hey…. none of my pals liked it either…and that’s how I came to dislike Finance Bank.
I was young but I loved the program. But most of my peers at the time hated the programme. My wife tells me how she hated that program with passion. I think it has to do with monopoly of ZNBC at that time, we didn’t have DSTv. The moment such programs started airing, kids would leave the living rooms, lol.
