Zambian golfers flunk at 2014 Zambia Open

Share

There was domestic carnage at 2014 Zambia Golf Open at Nkana Golf Club in Kitwe on Friday where one Zambian golfer was the last man standing.

Dayne Moore is the only one of 26 Zambian golfers comprising 12 professionals and 14 amateurs still in the hunt after Friday’s cut was made at the end of round two of the four-day event.

Some notable big name casualties were Madaliso Muthiya who finished a tied in 80th place at four-over.

Patrick Mwendapole too failed to make the cut and finished two shots behind Muthiya.

The tournament, which is taking pace in Kitwe for the first time ever, enters its penultimate round on Saturday.

Meanwhile, defending champion Adilson Da Silva of Brazil has made the cut after finishing at one-under and is nine shots adrift of leader Wallie Coetsee of South Africa.

  1. What did you expect anyway? These Zambians do not deserve to be called Golfers. They are hackers. The Golf clubs in Zambia are not “golf clubs per say” but drinking clubs. Check the body configuration of our women golfers. At a distance you will be forgiven to think they are bags of Maize until you get nearer. Golf also requires fitness in addition to skill.
Mwatusebanya…..I am glad I cancelled my trip from Livingstone to come and Watch Zambia open. What a waste of resources and flight of much needed forex.
Chishimba, please move in and clean the rot!!

    • @Yamba. How dare you ask Kambwili to clean the rot in golf yet its him messing up golf course like the Roan Antelope Golf Club. He brought in animals on the golf course and has enchroached on the same! He is just some barking man. Visit RAGC.

  2. Am embarrassed. One Aaron Simfukwe brought 43 over and am told he is a professional (polo) Ban this *****ii.

  3. Congratulations to my nephew Dayne Moore for making the cut. He is on 2 under gross after the first 2 rounds. He also made the cut along with Muthiya at last year’s Zambia Open.

Our local pro’s need more local tournament’s and support to be able to sharpen their skills and mental preparation. Decent prize money must be staked but should only be won by scores below Level Par. Discipline and lots of practice are a must.

Our courses also need improving to international standards like Nkana Golf course. Some of the courses in the country leave much to be desired.

  4. Chipata has one of the oldest courses in Zambia yet the “course” can hardly be identified as a golf course. Such a rich history of golf but unfortunately we travel the 2 hours to Lilongwe to play a decent course. History is nice to talk about but makes a rough game of golf!
