PRESIDENT Michael Sata and his delegation will participate in the general debate of the United Nations(UN) GeneralAssembly which has drawn leaders from across the globe.

Mr Sata, whose delegation includes Foreign Affairs minister Harry Kalaba, Transport, Communication, Works and Supply minister Yamfwa Mukanga and Mwansa Kapeya from Lands, will also engage in other high-level meetings at the UN headquarters here.

Zambia’s Permanent Representative to the UN Dr Mwaba Kasese-Bota announced today that First Lady Dr Christine will also participate and subsequently be honoured as e-health Ambassador at a ceremony tomorrow.

“It is a very important session of the UN General Assembly in the sense that we are now getting towards the end of the millenium development goals,” she said of the 69th General Assembly whose theme is ‘Delivering on and implementing a transformative post-2015 development agenda.’

On Monday, Zambia will participate in a special session of the International Conference on Population and Development(ICPD), which will be followed by a climate change meeting to be convened by UN General Secretary Ban Ki-Moon.

Mr Mukanga will chair the Landlocked Developing Countries(LLDC) meeting.

Dr Kasese-Bota said the Heads of State are also going to speak about their response to the dread Ebola virus which has affected some West African countries.

“The UN Security Council this week passed a resolution calling for increased efforts to address the Ebola outbreak. His Excellency President Sata told me that we should go and support the resolution on Ebola. Indeed Zambia supported the resolution on Ebola,” she said.

The other issue which will feature at the biggest World international organisation meeting is peace and security in the Middle East and in the Great Lakes Region.

    • my dear Mushota , please stop responding to these upnd f00ls let them say what they feel is right we can understand them, cos they are yet to recover 2011 loss of elections hence the insults as there daily bread. these pipo called upnd and there leader hh they are all imbecile’s and they are drunk and stinking tribalism, please Mushota and well meaning Zambian forgive these pipo and there zwd dog who are championing hatred among Zambian cos they what power at all cost. therefore, don’t force uself to be president when God hasn’t called u to be. I know hh is so desparet to be presido of this nation and he has blogging on this site and other pipo he has paid to insult PF leadership, but I can assure that u will not succeed and u will end-up dying come 2016. As Zed pipo we have refused u…

    • HH will never be president for mother Zambia because of how he started his politics. He started his political carear using the tribal platform by chasing away Saki and ba Patrick Chisanga from UPND. And only Southern province will vote for him. Whilst Eastern, Luapula, Muchinga, Lusaka, Northern, Copperbelt and now Western provinces will continue saying, NO to his vote. HH chased a Lozi guys, Saki to become a leader of UPND. Therefore, how can he be president from only one or two provinces??? In 2016 General Election, PF will emerge 2nd in NorthWestern, Southern and Western provinces.

    • This woman is evil! All because she wants to remain First Lady she can’t advise our Cobra to rest sure!
We love our King Cobra. If he can step down and rest, recover. We can surely vote him back in as at when he gets fit again.
Praying for you sir that God may heal you! Nevertheless, please, REST SIR and recover well. Let a stronger person take over for now. Please…

  1. I plead with the old man to stay in bed I have seen enough and heard enough,,,he can not embarrass us any further especially in front of the world media who he can not ban from taking live pictures. Please Sata just stay in bed.
Please don’t honor the heartless woman called Kaseba….that is one wicked woman.

    • @Jay Jay,
Your sincere plea will fall on deaf ears especially that this highly embarrassing scenario is planned and led by his supposedly loving and well educated wife. She is well supported by nutters like Saulosi, Mushota and a few others who will describe you and others who are truly concerned, sympathetic and empathetic about Sata as naysayers wishing him dead.
I want to believe that they are taking full advantage of the UN session to take him abroad for a long overdue check-in into an ICU of some foreign high profile medical centre. There is no way Sata can contribute effectively in that condition we saw and heard him yesterday, the man is confused, disoriented and has no idea what is going on around him. He is going through hell.

    • We have suffered a lot of embarrassment from this man but this one I don’t mind.Let him go maybe that is when we can be rid of him. I hope he uses Malaysia airlines.

  2. Good bye Mr President. Mwanawasa went to Sharm Al Sheikh in Eygpt when he was unwell. He returned to us many weeks later in a box. This flight will ‘kill’ the old madala. He will come back wrapped in swaddling clothes, like a babe except he won’t be a babe! Rest in Peace Ba Wesu!

  3. Please spare us of this embarassment. Fwebena Zambia fwebene twalibellela behaviour yaba mudala nomba mwiyitwala ku UN twapapata.
What if he fails to speak like it happened yesterday in parliament? In the interest of my country’s reputation, i suggest the vice president represents him on such occasions until he fully recovers.

    • And you should see the so called Vice President. No suit can hang on the old fag got properly and each time he opens his mouth he does so without thinking.I was watching parley opening yesterday.I saw Sata, Scott, Lombe Chibesakunda tired old fools with not an iota of wisdom. They say wisdom comes with age but for them age came alone

  4. Mr. Sata, has he got relatives? How can they allow him to be tormented like that by people who just want to benefit from his Presidency? Even the first lady is all smiles, when he can see that his friend is gasping for life? Mulenga Sata, where are you? do something my friend, people will laugh at you soon. There is no harm in the President resigning and going back to his house in Rhodes Park along Omelo Mumba Road. His health should take precedence over any other issues.

  5. @Mushota, @Jay jay, or should I say @maxwell. I know you are one and the same man. Do you know what an IP (Internet Protocol) address does?
But that aside, you are of course free to express yourself and have as many personas as you want, as many avatars as you want. Its a free World. You are an intelligent person and you make us laugh in the persona of Mushota. But when you begin to mock illness like this don’t you think you have crossed a line? There is a line between ‘ubuntu’ and ‘ubunama’. I am no fan of Sata at all because he is in way over his head in the that job. But I feel for Sata as a fellow Zambian and fellow human being when it comes to illness regardless. It is immoral to mock him or anyone in that condition. You are as inhuman …

    • Please stop this silly gibberish and get a hold of yourself…you honestly think I have the energy and the time to play those personalities everyday on LT on every headline? I have a life and I have to put food on the table….instead of this silly witch-hunting and chasing shadows I advise you AGAIN as I do every Sunday on that TODAY’S PRAYER MESSAGE; go and invest your time and study about self.
      Wake up!!

    • @Jay jay, @Mushota, @Maxwell ..@Z– etc. You are one and the same man. Or are you trying to say your computer is being used as a zombie by someone else? You clearly need to work on your knowledge about IT. And while you are at it, you also clearly need to appraise yourself with copyright laws governing ‘copy and paste’ w.r.t. theft of intellectual property of someone else. Understand this:- You do not attain the moral higher ground to ‘advise’ on matters of God our Creator by stealing someone else’s intellectual property. God and stealing are mutually exclusive. But then again, you as an Atheist would find it too hard to understand this. So my message to you is simply this:- Do not take someone’s illness and turn it into a blogging game even if that sick person mocked others.

    • You could be right ,i have always wondered as to what had happened to Maxwell ,so it is this idi.ot jay jay. shame on you jay jay ,get a job.

    • @Cactus..
You are one delusional small little individual…when did you start blogging on LT? It seems you are new to this forum, if you were blogging on here in 2009 you would know better.
You are likened to a dog a puppy to be specific running in circles trying very hard to bite its tail.
      Wake up!!

  6. I do not think we should blame relatives or pf. Sata is an arrogant man and nobody can tell him what to do and expect him to do it. Him thinks he is ok and he should lead. So let him

  7. In his own words “I don’t have to beg the electorate for transport, me I can fly from here and take my wife with me” Zambians are very docile indeed. Our ignorance and hero-worshipping will land this country in serious problems. You are showing the rest of the world that we are a country ready to be taken over by any fanatic out there. The president’s powers are vested in the people so for as long as we continue to tolerate this comedy, he will feel compelled to continue. Without a doubt Sata loves Zambia but one can sense that the old man has given up but the people around him are still living the dream. Let the old man rest, not amount of money will repair the damage caused as a result of our ignorance. Let him go, maybe it will take outside media to expose this immorality.

  8. LT Moderator
This site can be improved by moderating more firmly. People should be commenting on the article not personal campaigns of hatred. There are far too many posts that are insulting and threatening to those of opposing opinions.

Where LT wants a healthy and vibrant site, they need to allow for a debate site based on debate of the article with general political observation. Vehement disagreements based on the posted article should be allowed!! If only to give bloggers a chance to to vent!

    • Having said that, my comment on the article is a positive one.

I am happy that our dear President and First Lady gave resumed their full representative roles. They were criticised for taking time out (while parliament was in recess mostly).

We can now see the childish responses to the article by opposition erm… For want of a better description..vermin.

Dr Kaseba deserves her honours. She truly has served with a large bright smile all the time. She has been a dutiful First Lady and Zambians should be proud of her.

We wish His Excellency a good journey. And Dr Kaseba deserves a little shopping therapy!

  9. ONE QUWSTION WHEN DID THE FIRST LADY GET ALL THIS TIME TO WRITE PAPERS WHEN SHE WAS AT UTH WE NEVER HEARD OF. ALL OF A SUDDEN SHE IS RECIVING NUMEROUS ACCOLADES. TO BE HONEST THEY DONT MEAN A THING.
FIRST LADY YOU ARE AN EMBARRASSMENT TO THE MEDICAL FIELD HOW DO YOU PARADE SUCH A SICK MAN IN PUBLIC.

PLEASE RESPECT HIS DIGNITY THE MAN IS VERY SICK AND HE WILL NEVER RECOVER. LET HIM REST AND HAVE SOME QUALITY TIME WITH HIS FAMILY. ZAMBIANS WE ARE A DISGRACE TO THE WORLD

  10. HE HAS GONE FOR MEDICATION AND JUST SEE THE FAMILY TREE ESCORTING HE MCS.
I THOUGHT EITHER ONE FROM WESTERN,SOUTHERN OR CENTRAL LAMBA LAND WILL ACCOMPANY THE BIG MAN BUT TO MY SURPRISE ALL ARE REGIONAL TRIBES GOING WITH HIM.

  11. CAMERA MEN WERE VERY FAR FROM SNAPPING SATA BUT LET US WAIT FOR THE VOA AND BBC PICTURES WHEN HE ARRIVES. I BELIEVE WATCHDOG WILL BE CLOSER THE TIME OUR PRESIDENT WILL BE THREE DAYS IN THE SUMMIT MEETING. KOSENI BANE MWEBELE NABA NTAMBALUKUTA.

  12. This explains why Dr. Kaseba’s sisters and other family members are in N.Y.C now. Busy tellinging people that they are flying business class to the US of A. There is indeed a feast at plot one. Tax payers money at waste.

  13. According to a popular refrain,if you want to know how the hippo lives, ask the crocodile. This president is a very divisive character. He presides over a corrupt and tribalistic regime.Ask his image builders at the post who have confirmed this…even they have realised the folly of supporting this failed project.Look at his senior government officials and those in the foreign service….they all come from the northern region.Take a sample of one ministry, say Finance…who’s the minister?Deputy min?Secretary to the Treasury?Who are the permanent secretaries there?they all hail from the northern region…we shall continue to complain until the situation is corrected in 2016.Zambia is bigger than muchinga, northern and luapul provinces …..

  14. Christine Kaseba dragging her sick husband to the UN General Assembly all in the name of being honored is being heartless , she should sympathize with her husband instead of exposing in such a way. Let him rest & recover from his illness no wonder the president said she is hell.
