MMD President Nevers Mumba’s Special Assistant Raphael Nakacinda has dismissed the suspension of Dr Mumba and subsequent adoption of Former President Rupiah Banda the party’s candidate for the forthcoming presidential elections.
Mr. Nakacinda described the announcement as “illegal and madness” being perpetrated by a clique within the party whose agenda is to satisfy the ego and personal ambitions of an individual.
Mr. Nakacinda said it was saddening that individuals who are expected to be the moral voice of the country would sink to such levels and go on to preside over an illegal process and came up with an equally illegal decision for political expediency.
Mr. Nakacinda who is also the party’s director of communication said the development in the party is making it lose its moral voice on the issue of constitutionalism wondering how people would believe that the party will abide by the country’s supreme law when it cannot follow its own constitution.
“That suspension is nil and void, its madness that people would abrogate the constitution, use unconventional means to try and satisfy an individuals ego and ambition.
“What is more saddening is that individuals whom you would expect that they would be the moral voice of this country would preside over a decision that is illegal and come up with a decision that is illegal just for political expediency.
“We are losing as MMD with this development the moral voice that we are suppose to be or have to speak even on the subject of constitutionalism in this country if we are going to be the first ones to abrogate our own constitution.”
He said it is for the same reason that Dr. Mumba is determined to fight and preserve the rule of law in the party because that will give it the justification to govern the country on basis of rule of law.
Mr. Nakacinda added that the party will not be hijacked by individuals whose agenda is to usurp power using back door methods so as to archive something that is not in national interest.
Meanwhile Mr. Nakacinda accused the people who convened the meeting of using under hand methods to coax people to the meeting.
“We are not even sure that they formed a column but we do know that some of the individuals who attended the meeting were hoodwinked especially that the invitation was coming from the secretariate to think that the meeting was just an intra- party meeting.
After they appended their signature on the roll call” he continued, they were surprised to find that the agenda was alien to them and some of them were in that meeting as they made recommendations under duress which is very unfortunate.”
And on the continued operations of the secretariate after Dr. Mumba had earlier announced that he had suspended operations at the party’s national secretariate, Mr. Nakacinda said the actions of office bearers at the secretariate vindicates the president.
“We are yet to understand what the interest of those office bearers at the national secretariate is; whether its to destroy the party or it is a regional agenda or those things we are yet to digest and understand.”
When asked as to why the President is avoiding the secretariate Mr. Nakacinda replied that Dr. Mumba has been restraining his people not only from within Lusaka but even other provinces so as to avoid any physical conflicts between the two camps.
Mr. Nakacinda however, warned that it will be difficult to control the emotions of people because the move by the pro- RB camp who have gone ahead to suspend the incumbent president of the party and adopt Mr. Banda who is just an ordinary member for the elections in two months time.
And on the issue of dialogue Mr. Nakacinda said you can only dialogue with someone who brings something on the table and that there are two possible answers to a dialogue which is yes or no.
He noted that the refusal by Dr. Mumba who is the rightful person to stand on the MMD ticket to pave way for Mr. Banda in the forthcoming elections does not amount to gross indiscipline as the party constitution gives him mandate to be the flag bearer for the party in the coming elections and not Mr. Banda.
The MMD National Executive Committee (NEC) has suspended party president Nevers Mumba.
MMD national Secretary Muhabi Lungu who flanked by National Chairman Kabinga Mpanda and Ronny Shikapwasha among other NEC members announced Tuesday evening that Dr Mumba has been suspended for ‘gross indiscipline’.
The MMD NEC has also decided to adopt former republican president Rupiah Banda as the party candidate for the forthcoming presidential elections.

After all that Nevers has done to keep the party afloat, was insulted and called names yet he persevered, RB who was at home chilling and attending court cases can today come and grab the opportunity to be come president from Nevers is very evil and un human. Like a corporation, shareholders vest their trust in the Board of Directors are given the power to discipline an executive found inimical to the party interest. The BoD convened and have passed a binding resolution. NEC is the BoD of MMD. Is there another BoD of MMD?
The Chairman, Secretary General and quorum of the BoD have passed a resolution baba against crookedness and dangerous incompetence. o appear and defend yourself. otherwise, after 10 days you are expelled back to NCC.

Why can’t PF Central Committee learn from the illustrious execution of board authority by the MMD NEC and use the same authority vested in them by the PF constitution to once and for all sort out the succession wrangles.

1. Nevers Mumba was just a joker of a politician. He could not bring a single vote to the party not even from his native Chinsali.

Miscalculation on the part of MMD. We have just attained the jubilee therefore we don’t want any presidential candidate above 60years. These people they would have just talked to each other and endorse Felix Mutati. The problem with most of NEC members were looking at the money that will come from RB. This miscalculation is likely to to take place in PF. instead of going for the candidate who has more chances of sympathy vote( Lungu or Sata Jr) they will end up with a candidate who will be difficult to sell. This will give a clear win to HH who is already in the customers mind.

NOMINATION OF PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATES IN ZAMBIA
The world must be laughing at the craze surrounding the battle of words in PF over nomination of a Presidential Candidate by the Central Committee. It is now abundantly clear that Guy Scott and the “Cartel” are formed into a blockade that seeks to stop Hon Edgar Lungu from being nominated by the majority members of PF Central Committee without reasonable or plausible cause. Selection of presidential candidates in Zambia has been for donkey years through nomination by central committees of respective parties. Where is justice in pressurizing Lungu to be subjected to a cartel-driven conference, where a scheme is alleged to have been hatched to plot his downfall. MMD, FDD, UPND etc are using central committee route! Where is justice?
Why should the world laugh at Zambia? That is what democracy really is. Edgar Lungu is a ruffian who always wants to use the back door. They have denied him that. He better get used to clean politics. PF are on the right track, democratically.

I still feel sorry for Nevers Mumba because you keep the party afloat and you raise 400 million kwacha so that the party is not deregistered. Election time comes, Rupiah Banda just springs up and yet he has had no involvement to assist the party in any way all along during the difficult times it went through after he abandoned it

Okay just when I was beginning to think MMD may make more sense after being kicked out by the PF in 2011, now I’m hearing this craziness! If adults in society have no morals, where will the younger generation end up really. We cannot have this kinda of insanity going on forever in this country. Unfortunately the role models we are supposed to look up to are messed up completely. People cannot even respect anything anymore. Why do they even have constitutions if they cannot abide by them anyways? I hope Zambians who are eligible to vote will not take these men of gold seriously. Shame of these old men!

I feel sad for Nevers. This is what happens if you abandon the Lord. This man belongs to the church. By now he could have been the most powerful and influencial clergy in Africa. He could have been rich….very rich but he chose politics and this is the profit he is getting. He is a let down in the eyes of God. He wanted to amass wealth within a short period of time and he is paying it this way. I feel sorry and pit for him. Let him just get back to the pulpit and ask for forgiveness. The Bible teaches, to avoid courts because no one tells the truth. No one sues truthfully, and no one answers truthfully.
The truth Pastor Nevers Mumba needs to face is that he was unpopular. Attempts to remove him have been underway for a while. He was aware of these moves yet forced his stay in the Party Presidential role.
It is sad, but he should take comfort in his Faith. He must remember what God Almighty said.
Man is Fickle, but I your God am never changing, today, tomorrow and forever.
Lean into Him Dr Mumba for He is able to change ALL things. amen.
That is the hard reality. Dr. Mumba needs to honestly acknowledge this reality and resist being seen as imposing himself on the MMD. Simple dignity demand that. Any legal fight will be ill-advised.
Now Nevers and all those who have been telling us that God is fighting Mumba’s battles, can we see this God do something about this situation?
It really does piece me off when you all talk God – God this, God that, God the other! This God never gets to show up . God is not only for good results, he’s also in the bad, with good reason. Lungu has done some evil and will pay with his reputation. They will lose the elections with RB. They will lose popularity, and fade.
How much more should God do? He does not act on your orders nor is he a performing circus seal that does clapping tricks with a ball on its nose. He is God Almighty, name above all names.
Questions is: will RB be allowed by the courts to stand? Given that he may have perpetrated an illegality, he will probably be end up with egg all over his face. I don’t have any sympathy for Nevers though after the way he unleashed his thugs on Kachingwe! What goes around, comes around.
