Acting President, Guy Scott, has nullified the declaration of Edgar Lungu.
Dr Scott says the declaration of Edger Lungu as the PF Presidential Candidate for the January 20 presidential by election is null and void.
Speaking to journalists in Kabwe at the Presidential Lodge, Dr Scott said the PF Central Committee and the convener of the conference did not follow the stated procedure of the party constitution.
Dr Scott said he was the only person legible to call for the national council where candidates aspiring for the presidential candidature are scrutinized.
Dr Scott said the general conference will still go ahead tomorrow where the PF president will be elected.

PF presidential aspirants Chishimba Kambwili has announced that the purported election of Edgar Lungu is invalid and illegal. Kambwili says the proper general conference is the one that will be presided over by party president Guy Scott. Kambwili said all the candidates will be there but that if one of them (Lungu) won’t be there, ‘it is his own fault. Verification and registration of delegates is currently going on at Walusungu Lodge and voting may take place tonight or tomorow

He was unopposed because the other candidates did not show up and failed to produce the required 200 nominators. At this point Scott is showing disrespect for the delegates. They can’t keep on moving the goal post. All the delegates that were verified should have been notified and moved to the new convention. What happened at the convention? Scott started playing hide and seek and never even set foot at the convention! Even when he was expected to address the delegates, he never pitched up. So who is to blame for this?

PF delegates are called to the convention by the secretariat, at this stage I believe the secretariat tells districts to send their representatives. The district sends the people and confirms the names of the delegated delegates. If then it is true that the people who got into the convention were not the names that the districts sent, then Scott as president and Masebo as chairperson for elections have the right to nullify the elections, even though it may be visible to the naked eye that they Scott and Masebo belong to the other camp. If they go to court and prove that the list of delegates was doctored, they will win

The problem with PF is that they members do not have party cards. So it is very difficult to authenticate who their true members are. INSTEAD OF 4000 DELEGATES THERE WERE 8000. MOST OF THEM UNACCREDITED FROM THE EL CAMP. THE ATMOSPHERE WAS NOT CONDUCIVE. GUY SCOTT WAS ALSO TOO ELUSIVE HE DID NOT EXPLAIN CLEARLY TO THE DELEGATES WHAT WAS HAPPENING. INSTEAD HE WENT TO HIDE INTO KOHIMA BARRACKS. DELEGATES WERE WAITING, HUNGRY, NO TOILETS. SO ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN. THE ACCREDITATION PROCEDURE WAS ALSO NOT CLEAR.

Actually Guy Scott has exposed the ineptitude of Zambians at running affairs according to their OWN rules. Look at the Kangaroo scenario unfolding in MMD! That is the same thing the Lungu camp want to perpetuate at the PF conference. Why do we write laws that we are not willing to yield to? Scott is showing us that if we must live in the jungle, we must write jungle law – and vise versa. ARTICLE 52 PF
ELECTION OF THE PRESIDENT OF THE PARTY
(1) The President of the Party shall be elected at the General Conference of the Party.
(2) A candidate shall indicate to the Secretary-General of the Party his intention to stand for the
Office of the President of the Party not less than one day before the date of the General Conference.
(4) The Secretary General of the Party shall submit the name or names of the candidates of the Central Committee for consideration and where there is more than one candidate the Central Committee may indicate support for one of the candidates.
(5) The Central Committee shall submit the name of the candidate or candidates to the National
Council for approval or disapproval.
(6) The person whose candidature for the office is not approved by the National Council shall not be
Eligible for election at the General Conference for the office of the President of the Party.
(7) A candidate whose candidature for the office of the President of the Party is approved by the
National Council shall lodge his nomination papers with the Returning Officer appointed by the Electoral Commission supported by twenty (20) delegates from each of the Provinces of Zambia attending the General Conference.
(8) If more than one candidate stand for the office of the President of the Party, each delegate to the General Conference shall vote for one candidate only and the candidate who receives the greatest number of votes shall be the sole candidate for election to the office of the President of the Republic.
(9) Where only one candidate has filed nomination papers at the close of nomination, such a
Candidate shall be declared duly elected President of the Party without conducting a poll.
(10) A member of the Party shall not be qualified as a candidate for the office of the President of the Party unless he has been a member of the Party for five (5) years immediately preceding the nomination and he is qualified under the Constitution of Zambia for election to the office of the President of Zambia.
(11) If the person elected as President of the Party is not elected as President of the Republic he shall Continue to be President of the Party until a President of the Party is elected at another extra ordinary General Conference.
Read Article 52 and then judge for yourselves if Edgar Lungu was legitimately elected as PF President,.

Iwe it is not about sleeping but using the correct names to register to vote. Your Lungu took all the boys from Cairo Road to go and intimidate other candidates so that you create an environment of wanting only one person….Remember what happened to Kavindele in the Kaunda days? Scot is right Mr. Lungu…….just follow the normal proceedure and everything will be ok. Masebo MUST be commended for being courageous to face those thugs and tell them in their faces that your election of Lungu is nil and void.

The point for Hon.Lungu to note is that those boys and marketeers he got from Lusaka were not delegate. Why allow such people in the congress premises?? They were hire to intimidate the other candidate and hence the absence of the other presidential candidates.

We have seen in the past political parties withdrwawing when not ready and elections have been conducted peacefully. Kaunda withdrew in 1996 and elections were held.
In short, elections can be held without this PF. If they are not ready other parties can participate in the January election.
PF is not Zambia. Why worry about one party? I don’t believe this can cause confusion to any degree…. I am already ignoring PF and sleeping peacefully as there are many other candidates to vote for…
