Southampton coach Ronald Koeman has decided to release Emmanuel Mayuka early this week for 2015 Africa Cup duty.
The Dutchman said he had enough cover in Mayuka’s position thus he would be the first of his three players who will be away on continental duty next month to be released.
Senegal midfielder Sadio Mane will be released after January 4 for Africa Cup duty while Japan defender Maya Yoshida will travel will travel to Australia for the 2015 Asia Cup on January 1.
“We will have three players who will play for the national teams. Mayuka will go now this weekend because we have more players available in that position,” Koeman stated on Southampton’s official website.
“I spoke to the national coach of Japan and Maya will stay until after the game against Arsenal .
And Zambia will regroup on December 26 in Johannesburg for the final phase of pre-2015 Africa Cup training camp and are expected back home after January 11 for their farewell reception.

It seems Mayuka is not in Ronald Koeman’s plans. I see him being loaned this January or even being released by So’ton. Mayuka should take advantage of the AFCON this coming January and perform well for Zambia. He might just attract some good clubs and sign him.

Bottom line is, Mayuka can’t just play soccer at the moment. I’ve watched him come on as a substitute at Southampton and each time it’s like he’s running away from the ball. He should have more aggressiveness on the ball in order make it. I feel pity for the young lad at times.

…..Mayuka’s agents need to wake up and find a suitable league and club for the young man before he is wasted on S’ton bench…..as if he is a goalkeeper..

Meaning that the Coach feels he can do without Mayuka or the player has no place or simply not needed at Southampton.
Mayuka is a good forward but not as good as Pelle or 2 other forwards. So you can’t expect him starting games that Southampton needs to win to challenge top 4 finish to be given first choice. In the premier league one must have some kinda intelligence and has to be alert all the times and know exactly what to do with the ball once he has it. Its for that reason why most Zambian players will never even play 10 minutes Mayuka has been playing for Southampton. With all that said, Mayuka will offloaded in this January transfer window and the Scotland wouldn’t be bad for him
