Acting President Guy Scott has condemned the alleged political violence that took place in Shiwangandu district in Muchinga province yesterday.
Dr Scott said people who condone violence have no place in politics and have no role to play in the country’s precious democracy.
ZANIS reports that Dr Scott said violence creates insecurity, deters voters from exercising their right to participate in elections and embarrasses the nation.
Dr Scott said violence whether committed by the ruling PF, UPND or any other political party should be condemned at all costs.
Some people purporting to be PF supporters yesterday allegedly attacked UPND supporters and campaigners in Shiwangandu district.
And Dr Scott has directed the Zambia Police to investigate and act on the findings with regards to the events that happened in Shiwangandu as well as other reported incidents of political violence.
This is contained in a statement issued to ZANIS in Chingola today by Senior Private Secretary for the Acting President Robert Kamalata.
The Acting President is on the Copperbelt on a working visit.

That was indeed uncalled for. Shiwangandu is a certified PF stronghold, hence there was no need for violence. We want UPND to lose these elections in a clean manner like they have been doing for the past 4 occasions.
Dr Scott, it isn’t enough to just condemn violence generally like you don’t know who committed it. You know its your party’s thugs led by your Deputy Minister Kapyongo who nearly brought down a copter.

Very disappointed with the Acting President, Guy Scott. What happened in Shiwan`gandu was very serious, lives could`ve been lost if that Copter crashed. And yet he fails to come out with a stern and categorical statement .
Why didn`t Scott name and shame Kapolyongo, the guy who instigated the violence.
@Blago…Scott has instructed the police to arrest all the perpetrators of violence in Shiwangandu,and if Kapolyongo will be found wanting,he too will be arrested. You want him to start condemning individuals without getting facts from the police? If you have evidence that Kapolyongo was part and parcel of the violence in Shiwangandu I suggest you hand it over to the police. I too want a violence free election so that UPND won’t cry foul the day Edgar will be sworn in as president of Zambia.
If someone keeps quiet, ati spineless, if he condemns it in public and sends police to arrest culprits, ati its not enough…What more do you want? To be told that “Ok u have won elections that haven’t been cast yet”? or that Guy endorses HH? What do u want eh?

Doesn’t it sound patronising to you? Shouldn’t he be stern and ask why the Police have not followed the established laws on violence up to now if he is truly impartial and means well for all Zambians regardless?

@Blago: I fully agree with you on this one. In fact, Dr Guy Scott started out very well until he “reconciled” with Edgar Lungu. Then he started acting below our expectations again. This is the man who promised Zambians that he would lead a peaceful transition to the next leader.
Dr Scott, were you bribed or threatened to support PF all the way? You have let us down, Sir and the Lord will hold you accountable for this. Is this what you call condemnation of violence? This violence must be dealt with action not statements that hollow. Do you really think that that declaration of Zambia as a christian nation is in vain or something you make Zambians feel cute? All our former presidents have been humiliated in one way or another, even our first president, even if the declaration was not yet implemented. Dr Kaunda portrayed himself as a God fearing man, hence he was judged by the Lord for not upholding christian principles.

I cried to the Lord that evening. I prayed for more than 2 hours or so.. That when it struck me that we are supposed to be a christian nation with the Lord’s blessings but we have remained poor for as long as I can remember… Thats when I started researching on the history of Zambia, past presidents, policies, etc.. Then a pertain started to form. Thats when even the obvious like how our presidents have been humiliated, mysterious deaths, etc made sense.

Anyway, since you guys are smart and know what the scriptures say about using/bearing the Name of the Lord in vain, you will figure out the rest. In my opinion, Zambia has been under judgement for some time now.. That is why our presidents either die in office or have gone through shameful court cases and humiliation.
Im not saying that Jews are nice people; some are no good at all. However, we must remember what the Bible says about the nation of Israel. Dear Dr. Guy Scott hope you are well. You obviously know Chibuku Warrior aka Edgar Lungu is a failed lawyer and is not fit to be the next president. Lungu should know that this type of behaviour holds him accountable because it is PF who was behind this mess and people could have died. I know you said you will hold those responsible and it can easily be done through video footage and pictures. If I may say so, you were very positive before all of this and stood your ground then all of a sudden you are going back to the PF ways it seems. You had something in you before that was for the people of Zambia and the development of the country and it seems as if its gone.
