Ating President Dr Guy Scott with PF Secretary General Davies Chama during a rally for PF Presidential Candidate Edgar Lungu at Chiwepala in Chingola

Acting President Guy Scott has condemned the alleged political violence that took place in Shiwangandu district in Muchinga province yesterday.

Dr Scott said people who condone violence have no place in politics and have no role to play in the country’s precious democracy.

ZANIS reports that Dr Scott said violence creates insecurity, deters voters from exercising their right to participate in elections and embarrasses the nation.

Dr Scott said violence whether committed by the ruling PF, UPND or any other political party should be condemned at all costs.

Some people purporting to be PF supporters yesterday allegedly attacked UPND supporters and campaigners in Shiwangandu district.

And Dr Scott has directed the Zambia Police to investigate and act on the findings with regards to the events that happened in Shiwangandu as well as other reported incidents of political violence.

This is contained in a statement issued to ZANIS in Chingola today by Senior Private Secretary for the Acting President Robert Kamalata.

The Acting President is on the Copperbelt on a working visit.

    • This violence is retrogressive and primitive. Zambian we deserve better than this horde of PF cadres led by a drunk and digressed lawyer in the name of Edgar Vodka Lungu (EVL). What kind of people have no respect for a former first lady and a former deputy speaker? Only one where PF is in control! 20th Jan, lets vote for HH

    • That was indeed uncalled for. Shiwangandu is a certified PF stronghold, hence there was no need for violence. We want UPND to lose these elections in a clean manner like they have been doing for the past 4 occasions.

    • Dr Scott, it isn’t enough to just condemn violence generally like you don’t know who committed it. You know its your party’s thugs led by your Deputy Minister Kapyongo who nearly brought down a copter.

  2. Very disappointed with the Acting President, Guy Scott. What happened in Shiwan`gandu was very serious, lives could`ve been lost if that Copter crashed. And yet he fails to come out with a stern and categorical statement .

Why didn`t Scott name and shame Kapolyongo, the guy who instigated the violence.

    • @Blago…Scott has instructed the police to arrest all the perpetrators of violence in Shiwangandu, and if Kapolyongo will be found wanting,he too will be arrested. You want him to start condemning individuals without getting facts from the police? If you have evidence that Kapolyongo was part and parcel of the violence in Shiwangandu I suggest you hand it over to the police. I too want a violence free election so that UPND won’t cry foul the day Edgar will be sworn in as president of Zambia.

    • If someone keeps quiet, ati spineless, if he condemns it in public and sends police to arrest culprits, ati its not enough…What more do you want? To be told that “Ok u have won elections that haven’t been cast yet”? or that Guy endorses HH? What do u want eh?

Guys, the articles says “… And Dr Scott has directed the Zambia Police to investigate and act on the findings..”

My question to you both is: – Does it not strike you as odd that the acting Head of State has to give a directive to the Police for them to act, in a Country of established laws and regulations? Doesn’t it sound patronising to you? Shouldn’t he be stern and ask why the Police have not followed the established laws on violence up to now if he is truly impartial and means well for all Zambians regardless?

Guys, be rational in your thinking and commenting or else you lose the little credit you just gained thru GS and EL’s supposedly unreserved apologies.

    • @Blago: I fully agree with you on this one. In fact, Dr Guy Scott started out very well until he “reconciled” with Edgar Lungu. Then he started acting below our expectations again. This is the man who promised Zambians that he would lead a peaceful transition to the next leader.

Dr Scott, were you bribed or threatened to support PF all the way? You have let us down, Sir and the Lord will hold you accountable for this. Is this what you call condemnation of violence? What a shame. We all know that these are empty words as nothing will be done away with. You (Dr Scott) will go down in history as a leader who betrayed his people. I hope you read this.

  3. This violence must be dealt with action not statements that hollow. Always the ruling party cadres do things with impunity no permit for marching but they, they protest and best people and even when camera or video evidence is given no arrests are made. You politicians should stop taking Zambians for granted. You make statements but you do the exact opposite. Please GS you must address this matter. ZNBC you’re a disgrace of magnanimous proportions. You behave ad if you are not a public broadcaster. LT is behaving much better than all the other media houses. As things are, you can imagine what trauma the two mums are going through. Imagine it was your mother or relation subjected to such dehumanising experience. Awe bane this is not shaka Zulu era.

@From Sadiola Mine, you will be in for a rude shock. You think Guy Scott is f–l. Calling him p-g and you think he has forgotten that. Wait. What does apostle Shammah Bushiri say about people being shocked with this same Guy Scott, you are deaf – listen to the video on youtube even four times inorder to get the message. Those with ears, hear what Apostle Shammah Bushiri is saying.

  5. Sorry “purporting to be PF supporters” don’t cut it. They WERE PF supporters thus the condemnation is with tongue in cheek! Imagine a scenario where the EL campaign team is sitting in a room and laughing their lungs out (let them have it) and Scott standing out on the patio condemning the violence incident purportedly caused by PF cadres.

  6. Well Done Mr Acting President!
This is what Late Cobra Never done despite Violence perpetrated by his top officials, & Cadres. Unfortunately due to Cobras’ silence the Violence did become a normalized way of dealing with whoever disagreed with P.F, & we are still seeing the offshoots of this State sponsored thuggery.
I for one knows, Not everyone in P.F. is a thug, but unless its quickly condemned by the No1, & perpetrators brought to book, violence becomes acceptable as we witness today.
Now I urge Zambian’s to Vote wisely. In Zimbabwe, Mugabe was known for brutality against the minority Ndebele, But most of his Party members & Tribesmen, saw nothing wrong, until he turned his wrath on them years later. They then screamed “We are being brutalized” but…

. no one cared to listen as this was now seen as Normal in Zimbabwe, & the statistics speak for themselves when one looks at the number of Zimbabweans displaced & living abroad.
So Zambian’s today You may see your candidate despite his history & trends for Violence as a problem for the other Party / Tribe.
JUST WATCH OUT COZ ONCE IN POWER, & WANTING TO HOLD ON TO THE GRAVY TRAIN, YOU WILL BECOME THE NEXT VICTIM, & No amount of Screaming at the time will save Your Bacon!!!
Use that Vote wisely, seeing the bigger picture.

  11. This is not enough from the Acting President. We have heard this line before and nothing happened. Zambia is indeed a failed state whether you like this statement or not. PF must be kicked out as soon as possible. Maybe the healing process may start again.

PF and Zambian leaders think that the Lord does not hear the cries of his people. Wrong! Do you really think that that declaration of Zambia as a christian nation is in vain or something you make Zambians feel cute? All our former presidents have been humiliated in one way or another, even our first president, even if the declaration was not yet implemented. Dr Kaunda portrayed himself as a God fearing man, hence he was judged by the Lord for not upholding christian principles.

Look at what happened to Chiluba and corruption…

… Look at what happened to Chiluba and corruption cases, premature death….etc.. Then Mwanawasa and his illness till his death, though he tried as a good leader. But it was not good enough. Then came RB; short term leader, corruption cases still running.. His latest humiliation when he tried a come back.. Mr Sata.., the man who never enjoyed his presidency. He had no regard for others. look at the complications in his illness till his death.

This should warn the incoming leader, whoever it may be that as long as that declaration stands, the Lord God Almighty will hold the Zambian leaders accountable. We cant claim to be a Christian nation and act barbaric and hope that everything is will be ok. Last year, 2014, Zambia was rated the poorest country in the world….

…Last year, 2014, Zambia was rated the poorest country in the world….: h***
I cried to the Lord that evening. I prayed for more than 2 hours or so.. That when it struck me that we are supposed to be a christian nation with the Lord’s blessings but we have remained poor for as long as I can remember… Thats when I started researching on the history of Zambia, past presidents, policies, etc.. Then a pertain started to form. Thats when even the obvious like how our presidents have been humiliated, mysterious deaths, etc made sense.

Whats even more scary is that this so called Christian nation has always hated Israel, the real Christian nation.. see here:….

Anyway, since you guys are smart and know what the scriptures say about using/bearing the Name of the Lord in vain, you will figure out the rest. In my opinion, Zambia has been under judgement for some time now.. That is why our presidents either die in office or have gone through shameful court cases and humiliation.

Im not saying that Jews are nice people; some are no good at all. However, we must remember what the Bible says about the nation of Israel. Everyone/nation that blesses them gets blessed and everyone that curses them is cursed of the Lord. To make it worse, our leaders are not treating the Zambian people according to Biblical principles. Apologies for such long comments…

  13. Dear Dr. Guy Scott hope you are well. You obviously know Chibuku Warrior aka Edgar Lungu is a failed lawyer and is not fit to be the next president. Lungu should know that this type of behaviour holds him accountable because it is PF who was behind this mess and people could have died. I know you said you will hold those responsible and it can easily be done through video footage and pictures. If I may say so, you were very positive before all of this and stood your ground then all of a sudden you are going back to the PF ways it seems. You had something in you before that was for the people of Zambia and the development of the country and it seems as if its gone. I honestly feel you, HH and Mutati are the people who can bring Zambia to its full potential and no one else. Thanks.
