The ruling PF has been called upon to realize that it has the greater responsibility to set high standards of discipline it being the party in government.

Veteran politician Vernon Mwaanga also notes that the PF government has an inescapable duty to protect the citizens of Zambia from violence and intimidation.

In a statement to Qfm News Dr. Mwaanga states the PF government has to further ensure that perpetrators of violence meet the full force of the law regardless of who or what they are.

Dr. Mwaanga he is thus of the view that the reported dastardly acts of violence committed by suspected PF cadres in Shiwan’gandu constituency on Friday last week against opposition UPND party officials deserve the strongest condemnation.

Dr. Mwaanga says this is because political violence in whatever form and by whoever has no place in Zambia as it only serves to undermine people’s freedoms.

He says the people of Zambia fought very hard for their democratic rights and no amount of violence or intimidation should be allowed to hold them hostage to merchants of thuggery and hooliganism.

The Veteran politician states that given what happened in Shiwan’gandu his wondering what hope should people have that such violence will not be extended to the polling day.

He says in view this escalated level of violence in the country’s towns and villages and the growing mistrust among political parties participating in the January 20th presidential election, Acting President Guy Scott should ensure that international observer groups are invited in Zambia as quickly as possible.

Dr. Mwaanga says international observer groups should not be invited in the country only at the time the people are voting but that is also necessary that they observe the campaigns as well.

He says his other hope is that as the January 20th presidential elections are being held there will be a Parallel Vote Tabulation (PVT) system put in place to prevent possible tempering of votes.

Dr. Mwaanga notes that having such a system in place will also give confidence to the participating parties that whatever results are finally announced will truly reflect the view of the people of Zambia.

  1. It is very important that international observers come to monitor elections. But the PF is likely to invite election monitors from North Korea, Cuba, Rwanda and Nigeria only.

    • International observers should be invited. Acting President Scot and ECZ please invite them. If there are anomalies in the 20th January elections the fault will be squarely laid at your feet! In 2011 PF under Sata insisted that there should be international observers because he didn’t trust MMD. The tables have turned now and PF is. Not trusted. I am not a member of UPND I just believe in fair and free elections. Please no one from the countries EL visited recently.

    • Look who is talking. The greatest Election Rigger ever existed on earth and he wants to lecture a democratic gvt which has conducted free elections before. Zambia is now better without you VJ. You are a big liability to this country, keep it up with that failed party, called UPND, you are actually de-campaigning it because each time I see you talk, u remind of the past MMD times when democracy was under threat because of you and others.

    • Guys mulifikopo. Guy Scott doesn’t need to be told by the chief rigger to invite election observers. Government knows when to invite international election observers. When has government ever been told to invite these people? They always do it at the right time. So leave Guy Scott to act at right time.

    • VJ BEING A CROOK THINKS EVEN GUY SCOTT IS ONE. IF YOU DON’T TRUST YOURSELF BECAUSE YOU HAVE BEEN RIGGING ELECTIONS FOR MMD, DON’T THINK GUY SCOTT BY ETHICS AND PRINCIPLE HE CAN ALSO RIG ELECTIONS LIKE YOU. WE DON’T NEED TO INVITE OUTSIDE OBSERVERS. THEY SHOULD JUST COME ON THEIR OWN ACCORD. ECZ HAVE BEEN HANDLING AND THEY WILL STILL HANDLE THIS ELECTION IN THE MOST TRANSPARENT MANNER. IT’S HIGH TIME WE AFRICANS STARTED HANDLING OUR OWN AFFAIRS TRANSPARENTLY AND DEMOCRATICALLY. NOT THAT OBSERVERS ARE NOT ALLOWED TO COME IF THEY SO WISH.

      VOTE EL ON 20/01/2015
DON’T WASTE YOUR VOTE ON TRIAL AND ERROR. IT DOES’NT WORK.

    • BY THE WAY I AM IMPRESSED THAT BA VJ HAS BEEN SILENTLY STUDYING UP TO A PhD LEVEL. CAN ANYONE WITH INFORMATION TELL ME WHAT HE HAS BEEN STUDYING? THIS IS VERY IMPRESSIVE.

  2. VJ is proving to be The True Father of the nation whether we agree or not!
KK has lost credibility! KK is supposed to be doing what VJ is doing, putting Zambia first and giving direction to all!
    Zambia is currently under siege!
When a deputy Home Affairs Minister Kampyongo is in the forefront condoning Lawlessness, then we know we are done as a country!
This is the reason why we have been arguing against the appointment of Ministers from Parliament! It is a serious anomaly because Ministers should pre-occupy themselves with governance issues and not partisan politics!
It is becoming increasingly questionable whether we are all created in the same image!

  3. A Monkey and Baboon where seated next to each other during mass in church. Then the Priest said, turn and tell your neighbour, you’ve been created beautifully and adorably in the image of our Almighty God.The Monkey turns to the Baboon and laughs out loudly,Then tells the Priest,Eish!!,tell him yourself I don’t want to lie in the church …

    • VJ is telling the truth we need international observers. He might have been the rigger in the past but he is talking sense.

  4. Spot on VJ! We need observers from countries that ve not been compromised. All political parties must agree on who is invited. We know VJ supports HH but he is above partisan politics on this one unlike RB who is looking after his personal interests.

    • Why is it that who ever is supporting HH is none partisan, looking after the interests of the country. I am not naïve. HH group ( including HH himself) is made up of experienced looters of state resources.
Incidentally, how do you know VJ is none partisan? Last time I checked VJ was a member of MMD, some of whose members had decided to support HH.

    • Imwe naimwe tekanyeni. Government always invites these observers, opposition does not tell gov when to invite them. He is trying to win some mileage where things are obvious. Whoever reminded Mwanawasa or Chiluba or RB to invite observers. VJ should just continue helping HH and the Unprincipled Politicians Never Deliver (UPND) party to try and rig the election.

  5. Surely international observers do they go to matumbo, Chavuma or shangombo. They stay in intercontinental hotel and pay the fees that can be used for buying drugs in the hospitals.
The reason Mwanga is saying like this is the heat in the Hh camp is unbearable and difficult to content with. Few weeks ago the song was plot one now it’s katsishi Channel. Guy Scott warned you that the gains that you are making will be crushed and this is what is happening always coming up with weired allegations
1: lungu is sick we have medical records
2: the papers used for voting are bla bla
3: PF has brought in foreigners from Congo/ luanda
4: organise people in shiwangandu and pretend it’s PF
5: the election will be rigged by electronic transferring
The list is endless, next will be extra…

  6. Let UpDn write to such institutions like the Free masons, Common Wealth, SADC and the UN asking for observers. I am sure if Maureen wrote to the UN, the UN will lend a very sympathetic ear. What with her ranting of the other day

WHY was the issue of observers not raised when political parties met ECZ? Is it because at that time UpDn felt that they were leading in the race?

Bwana VJ, you are now feeling the heat, you thought you were big boys before the PF put their house in order.

UpDn you are raising too many issues, all of which are frivolous

    2015 ECL KWAMANA

    2016 ECL NAFUTI

    I THANK YOU

    • iwe @Mwine Munzi,ni fatigue ilelenga ama hallucinations mu UP n Down party. They were boasting that they could hold so many rallies in a day forgetting that they are mortal and in so doing their bodies were becoming weary, hence the hallucinations about fading ink on ballot papers,a vehicle carrying people from DRC and Luanda to beat people in Southern province, bla bla bla. To my PF comrades, lets maintain a violence free campaign so that HH goes back to South Africa where he stays minus having anything to point at for the loss he’ll suffer on the 20th of this month.

  7. If it is true that Lungu is using RB money and not Nsanda that is good news. RB wants to punish the bemba people for the pain he has gone through the last 3 years. All bembas will be fired from top positions, replaced by other tribes as Lungu consolidates his position for 2016, if this is true, Lungu has my back. After all us bembas are one of the lest educated in Zambia, used to stealing and thuggery behavior. I think whoever wins HH or Lungu, the bemba are in trouble this time around. I give Lungu the benefit of doubt but I think if he is dealing with the mature RB who has learned the lesson of how bembas can mistreat you, it will be a nice game. Punish the bembas, he can still win 2016 as bemba is not Zambia, all tribes make up Zambia. At this point go Lungu or HH. Fix my tribe.

  9. We don’t need election observers, Zambia is a sovereign state where we can manage our affairs. How many Zambian election observers have been invited to observe elections in the USA or Germany? If Mr Mwaanga suffers from inferiority complex let him keep it to himself and family.
