Opposition Christian Democratic Party (CDP) president Daniel Pule has pledged to empower Zambians for them to participate in the economic development of the country if elected as president on January 20, this year.

Dr. Pule said he will involve citizens in agricultural production in order to develop the country’s economy without borrowing.

The CDP leader was speaking when he featured on the Zambia National Broadcast Corporation (ZNBC) programme dubbed, “2015 presidential election” which was monitored by ZANIS in Lusaka today.

He observed that borrowing a lot of money from multinational lending institutions had a negative impact on Zambia’s economy as it attracts huge interests in return.

Dr. Pule stated that people’s participation in economic sectors such as agriculture and mining was a good initiative that would enhance the economic and social development in both urban and rural areas.

He is one of the 11 presidential candidates jostling for the top job in the country.

Other political parties participating in the presidential poll include the United National Independence Party (UNIP), the Movement for Multiparty Democracy (MMD), the United Party for National Development (UPND), Forum for Democracy and Development (FDD), ruling Patriotic Front (PF) and the National Restoration Party (NAREP).

The rest are the Heritage Party (HP), Fourth Revolution, Forum for Democratic Alternatives (FDA) and the Green Party.
