District Commissioners are imposing names of Election staff-ECZ

Share

The Electoral Commissioner of Zambia has said some District Commissioners are imposing lists of names on Electoral Officers for recruitment as poll staff in the forthcoming Presidential elections.

ECZ Acting Chella ECZDirector Chomba Chella in a statement to QFM News said the Commission is disappointed with this act.Mr Chella said all Councils had publicized shortlists of candidates from 2nd to 5th January 2015, and that it was during this period that concerned citizens were expected to raise objections.

He said the period has elapsed, and that the Commission will not entertain any objections pertaining to the recruitment of poll staff considering that training of poll staff has since commenced and will be conducted from 7th to 9th January,2015.

Mr Chella has since appealed to all District Electoral Officers and Returning Officers to remain non-partisan as provided for in the electoral act.
He has further urged all Electoral officers to operate in a professional and transparent manner.

Mr Chella said the Commission will not hesitate to revoke the appointment of any officer who may be going against the law and expected conduct in the discharge of their duties.

    • God is with Edgar Lungu our 6th President of great nationZambia. People from Copperbelt, Luapula, Northern, Muchinga, Central, Eastern and Lusaka vote Edgar.
HH is a political wimp with no experience and pseudo promises.

    • And when UPND says PF intends to rig the elections some naive people are doubting. what more evidence do you need. The only way PF can win is by rigging! Paya Famer!

  1. THIS WHAT IS READ IN THE MINDS OF PF STRUGGLING FOR POWER. DISTRICT COMMISSIONERS MY HUMBLE APPEAL TO YOU IS TO BE NEUTRAL BECAUSE HH MAY CONSIDER YOU ON 21 WHEN HE FORMS UPND GOVERNMENT.

BUT IF YOU FALL ALL YOUR FORCE ON THE LOSING PF, YOU SHALL NOT BE SPARED AND MIND YOU SOME OF YOU WERE APPOINTED BY WINTER KABIMBA AND EVEN IF PF COMES INTO POWER (GOD HAS FORBIDDEN PF). YOU WILL STILL BE FIRED.

    • When Sata fired the DCs from the MMD era he promised to appoint neutral ones from within the Government. However, he didn’t and instead appointed party cadres and relatives as DCs. So they cannot be expected to behave in a non-partisan way.

  2. Now Chomba Chella, you know to appraise my lady Justice Ireen Mambilima right?

You sound intelligent, though I’d like to know the who these rascals are. But maybe it would bother me so, good that you didn’t publish their name and party.

    Good Work Guys!

Pass my humble regards to Madam justice Ireen Mambilima and tell her she will forever be Chief Justice in my eyes.

  3. In 2011 you the PF campaigned on the basis of Sata man of experience. So what valuable experience did you see in Sata after he won the elections? All we can remember is Tribal appointments, nepotism, no press conference the entire 3 years and a whole bunch of failed promises. In fact Sata is the Zambian who should never have become president in the first place. And now you the PF are proposing Lungu to be the 6th president of Zambia, Lungu has stated that he has no plan except to follow what Sata was doing! So we can expect tribal appointments, nepotism, no press conferences and another whole bunch of failing promises. Where then is the logic in voting for Lungu, a frail sickly man who is top of the PF by a fluke. WE CAN NEVER VOTE FOR LUNGU AND BYE BYE PF

  4. The people of Zambia are not dull, they know only Edgar can manage this country well and continue developing the whole country without discrimination.
In Southern province all talk is Mwana wakwesu irrespective of his reputation and political inexperience. Zambia will be very safe in Edgar Lungu’s hands. Even the late Sata knew that is why he left him there. UPND prepare for another loss. Do PVT to avoid the cry of rigging.

  5. What has been done to the chief/thief who collected the NRCs of his subjects? Was it not done to stop them from voting for their candidates of choice? Is this not replicated country wide to disadvantage others? The practice can come in many forms such as registering community members for club grants, relief food, farming inputs and many others that may entice community members to submit their NRCs. Watch out for such crooks and report any exercise that demand your cards.
Let us all turn up in large numbers and vote freely for candidates who cares and can develop our country. We need an assurance for a better future.
