PF National Campaign Team Media Manager Emmanuel Mwamba says it is unnecessary to subject PF presidential candidate Edgar Lungu to medical tests.
Mr. Mwamba who is also former Information and Broadcasting Permanent Secretary said Mr. Lungu does not need to undergo medical tests because he is currently enjoying good health.
‘The candidate is healthy. Stories about his health are a malicious attempt to play on the minds of the people by our opponents. The UPND has some very smart people and strategists and they have seen that their numbers are not adding up so they have resorted to spreading rumours about Honourable Lungu’s health,’ Mr Mwamba said.
Mr Mwamba also revealed that the medical report published by the Post Newspapers showing that Mr Lungu urgently requires dialysis is a fabrication.
‘These are the lengths they are now willing to go just to tarnish Honourable Lungu’s image. They had to manufacture a medical report just to show that our candidate is unwell. We have since established that the said Dr Gupta does not even exist at CfB clinic and Mr Lungu does not go to CfB if he needs to see a Doctor, he goes to Fairview Hospital,’ he said.
He added, ‘this is why i had to immediately call for the arrest of Dr Canisius Banda and that he debarred from the medical profession after he claimed that the UPND had a copy of Honourable Lungu’s medical report and he has now back to say he never said he had in his possession a medical report.’
And Mr. Mwamba has clarified that Mr. Lungu has no intentions of closing down the Post Newspapers once he becomes President.
‘He does not need to intervene in the closure of the Post. That organisation already has a mountain of its own problems and Honourable Lungu won’t spend time trying to close it down because he will be busy running government. The only thing he will do is recover whatever is owed to the Zambian people in form of taxes,’ he said.
On reports that Mr. Lungu intends to terminate the contract of Director of Public Prosecutions Mutembo Nchito if he becomes republican President, Mr Lungu said such reports are untrue.
‘People need to understand that the tenure of the DPP is constitutionally protected. You just don’t wake up nilly willy and change the DPP because you have to come up with justifiable reasons to remove the DPP from office to an extent of a tribunal,’ he said.
And Mr. Mwamba reaffirmed Mr Lungu’s resolve to enacting a new constitution as demonstrated by the release of the draft constitution when he was appointed Justice Minister.
‘We have hang ups about signing the social contract with the Grand Coalition because we know that the coalition comprises Mr Hakainde Hichilema. Why should Mr Lungu sign a document making him answerable to Mr Hichilema? We have made this point clear to the Grand Coalition.’
‘Moreover, Honourable Lungu has made public proclamations that he will enact a new constitution by 2016. He had demonstrated his resolve by releasing the draft just after two months in the job as Justice Minister,’ he said.

Lungu told the nation that he has health problems he needs to take care of and Masebo also reminded the nation of lungu’s illness. Yesterday Lungu at a rally in Kafue said he is ready to go for medical test. He further lied that Masebo has not responded. Masebo said she is more than ready and is waiting for lungu to pick her so that they go together.

Those who seek high constitutional offices need clean bill of health, rule directly by holding national conferences where national issues are addressed to the country. Masebo said she was ready and that Lungu should pick her so that they do it at UTH? PF have a wrong candidate and they know it. But they will not deceive Zambians. What you are hearing about Lungu headed for an embarrassing defeat in North-Western province, it is everywhere! I was speaking to colleagues in Western Province. The situation is the same!
