Zambia held by DRC

Share

Zambia gave away a lead to draw 1-1 with DR Congo in the two side’s opening Group B match at the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations in Equatorial Guinea.

Striker Given Singuluma’s second minute goal was cancelled by Congolese forward Yanick Bolasie after 65 minutes.

Singuluma put Honour Janza’s side in the lead after being set up by Chisamba Lungu on the edge of the box following a mix up in the Congolese backline.

Zambia had led for 65 minutes before Bolasie beat Kennedy Mweene with a close range shot after Emmanuel Mbola’s defensive error.

Despite conceding early Congo dominated this match played in Ebebiyin and created many scoring chances.

Dieudonne Mbokani missed a chance to equalise on seven minutes after Mweene spilled in his way.

After the equaliser Janza made three substitutions that failed change the score-line.

He introduced Evans Kangwa for Emmanuel Mayuka with Mulenga Mukuka going in for injured debutant Ronald Kampamba, while Christopher Munthali replaced injured Nathan Sinkala.

  1. Very poor performance from our team and it is like the coach does not know what he is doing. We would have won the match today had it been for good team selection. The congolese are very physical and we needed players like Mbesuma or Jacob Mulenga upfront. We might be hammered by a big margin against Tunisia if we play like today.

    • And those injuries came about because of lack of concentration… Until Zambia goes back to play the famous passing-game, then they can play well against physical teams like DRC.

    • #1..Uselaess analysis ..how can you keep bringing up failed names and aging people like Mbesuma… Please if you nothing to say keep quite….

  2. The game was lost because of poor travel arrangments. How do you fly the boys I day before they play their first game and expect them to play football. Organizer are killing football in zambia.

  3. It is a fair result. Its my prayer that Sate sate and Sinkala get healed before our next game. The midfield didnt tick, it was losing balls easily but I know we will better than 2013.

  4. Zambia is NOT yet ready for any game, let alone of suchmagnitude in fact, we are extremely fortunate to have played and even drawn this game. The Congolese were and a better side all the ways. They could have walloped zambia 4 -1 easily .

  5. leadership in the Captain was lacking we need a captain who can speak English and command influence amongst his colleagues and other teams well both on the pitch and others

Kalaba is not a team captain to marshall and inspire his colleagues authoritatively and positively to lead to win

Change the captain to mweene it will work out positively on the pitch

It was evidenced at the back where no command to defend was lacking

    Change Kalaba to mweene

  6. Iam watching Supersport. Katongo is on the supersport panel but he is revealing all Zambia’s secrets! He is also criticising our hopeless coach. He sounds bitter at being left out.

    • No no no. Katongo is saying the truth. Zambia was outplayed and he summed it up well ‘we r in trouble’. Indeed!

Why do zambians hate to be told the truth. Chipolopolo is not going anywhere.

    • Very true. Zambians hate the truth. They like living in Fantasy. The truth is the boys will pack their bags after the Tunisia game.

  7. poor poor performance by Zambia today I mean its like thy ddt knw wat thy wr doing mmmm very disorganised. .if thr to win the next game thy need to pull up thr socks. ..sad cos they had ths chance to make 3 points.

  8. 2 DAYS before polling day and the once KK 11 scored in the 2nd MINUTE only to be equalised by the Congolese number 11, Bolasie.

The coach missed it by putting our jersey 11, Lubambo Musonda on the bench. We’ve 11 people on the ballot paper.

Everything is double dabulo, my God is goodo. It won’t be good for electorates to put HH on the bench come tuesday 20th because his initials is the only double !

And his initial is found in the name of God YHWH and in cHurcH which scoTT asked to pray for peace today.

    • THE MAJORITY OF ZAMBIANS WILL NEVER ELECT A TRIBALIST PARTY INTO POWER.
MAYBE IF UPND WAS LED BY SOMEBODY WHO WAS NOT A TONGA THEN THEY WOULD CONSIDER THEM OTHERWISE FORGET IT!!

  9. ZAMBIA LOOKED TIRED!!
WHY OH WHY DO WE CAMP OUR PLAYERS FOR A MONTH AND EXPECT THEM TO BE SHARP IN THE FIELD OF PLLAY?
SEVEN DAYS TO BE INCULCATED WITH TACTICS SHOULD BE ENOUGH UNLESS THE COACH IS SUPPOSED TO TEACH THEM HOW TO PLAY.
THE PLAYERS SHOULD ALSO STOP TAKING ALCOHOL AND BE DISCIPLINED!!!

  10. Shambolic travel arrangements and bully boy tactics from a certain junior minister can hardly inspire our team to excel . All the best for the next game Zambia.
