United Party for National Development (UPND) President Hakainde Hichilema says victory is certain for him in tomorrow’s presidential election.

Speaking on a paid for programme broadcast on a number of radio stations across the country through HOT FM this morning, Mr Hichilema said that his confidence of winning the presidential election is also backed by the results of the MUVI TV final opinion poll released yesterday in which he amassed 4,744 votes representing 84.5 percent followed by his closest rival PF presidential candidate Edgar Lungu with 718 votes representing 12.8 percent.

He added that he is confident of emerging victorious because he is the only presidential candidate who has campaigned throughout the country.

Mr Hichilema has since appealed to Zambians to tomorrow turn out in large numbers very early in the morning and cast their votes.

He said that Zambians have an opportunity to elect a knowledgeable and skilled leadership that will turn around the economy.

Mr Hichilema said that God has given the people of Zambia an opportunity to come out of their current suffering, stating that God’s time is the best.

And Mr Hichilema has said that Presidents who will come after him, if he wins will not have retirement homes built for them.

Mr Hichilema said that he will not have a retirement house built for him, but that his job as President will be to empower citizens with housing through the introduction of a long term mortgage product which is lower interest rate bearing.

HH no one has ever won by that percentage point. HH you must be dreaming – you paid Muvi and they are delivering – you should be worried as those figures are cooked.

    • HH, HH, HH. I thought you are learnt, at least average, to understand these opinion polls? What is the sample size and from which areas? Imagine am here almost 800 km from where MUV tv is, an eligible voter for that matter. I have had no input in these opinion poll. Let MUV tv go at least to every provincial capitals to conduct these opinion polls, then we will see whether you are popular. hahahahahahahah!!

Ya, ya,ya, c’mon HH, you really need to get serious if you want other people to take you seriously. 84.5% to 12.8%? What country are we talking about here? Qaddafi’s Libya? Not even in your wild dreams can that happen.

I get you. EL is not a Moslem. He has just been masquerading as one just so he could get Boko Haram to finance his campaign. I knew there was something fish about this guy. He has just hoodwinked Boko Haram. Any wonder he outsmarted Miles Sampa in Kabwe!

    • @ 2.4 K kay

Kay, thanks for the revelation you have made. EL is a conman. Any wonder he has been tight-lipped about Ruth Mbandu’s death. He only used it as a whip to try to subdue Miles Sampa into submission. This is the guy some of the Zambians are excited about, wanting him to be their president! It is a disgrace.

And for God’s sake, why hasn’t Edgar Lungu come out in the open and deny that he is not a Moslem? The accusation has been out there for a long time now. He needed to have repudiated it, if he is indeed genuinely not a Moslem as you surmise here.

    • What shocks me is to hear a person like HH with a first degree and masters degree have confidence in winning elections based on a flawed opinion poll run by MUVI. It is now clear to all and sundry that that opinion poll is meant to dupe the unsuspecting that HH is winning so that HH can have a basis for disputing the outcome of tomorrow’s poll once he is trounced. And boy, is he not in for a bashing? Let us wait and see and once they lose and try to take to the streets, not only will the police be ready for them. We shall take them on!!!

  3. Interesting indeed. What I know is that there has never been a presidential candidate who has won by 85% since KK. Even Chiluba who was very popular in 1991 won by about 66%. HH is deceiving himself to think that he can win by 84%.

    • Yes, but see, how it will work is that he will lose the election by many votes. I just cannot see how he will shield himself from the avalanche of votes coming in for Edgar Lungu from;

Northern, Luapula, Central, Eastern, Copperbelt, Lusaka. Look, this election will be done by lunch time Wednesday. The gap will be so huge.

  4. DONT WORRY MR HH. “TEKA BOLA PANSHI.” DONT COUNT YOUR EGGS BEFORE THEY ARE HATCHED. BUT LUCKY ENOUGH THEY WILL HATCH IN 24 HOURS. JUST WAIT FOR WHAT WILL COME OUT, IF THEY ARE NOT ROTTEN. YOUR PAID-FOR-POLLS ON MUVI TV HAVE BEEN DESCRIBED AS BOGUS. SO DONT COUNT ON THEM. INDEED YOU HAVE MANAGED TO GO ROUND THE ENTIRE COUNTRY. AND SOMETIMES TWICE IN SOME AREAS. JUST LIKE LATE BY DID BUT LOST LAMENTABLY. SO WAIT SIR. YOUR FATE WILL BE KNOWN VERY SOON.

    • @Mei. Indeed HH’s campaign has been amazing. He has shown us a high quality of Project Mangement skills. For ten weeks, HH has maintained a well oiled and well coordinated campaign machinery never seen in Zambia before. He has shown a rare strength – rallies, meetings, Radio interviews, visitations to markets and hospitals etc – for ten weeks plus and still he does not look ragged!!!!

This is just a glimpse of what the man can do.

      0

    • Lol. But campaigning is not the same as communicating. HH has failed to tap into the hearts of the Zambian people. He talks about cement prices when a majority of Zambians cannot relate because they cannot build home. He has failed to effectively mention how he plans to create employment. HH has not answered many questions, he reminds me of Sata in 2006. Until you start tapping into people’s hearts, you cannot convince them to vote for you. I see HH being rejected at the polls tomorrow.

      0

      0
    • @Voldemort,

you are right, now you are understanding HHs policies. Most Zambians can’t build because the price of cement is high and it is for this reason H.E. HH wants to bring the price down to afford the poor an opportunity to build a home.

He has talked about how he is create employment. Wait and see the actual plans when he is in power.

Don’t start condemning Sata without him you are a zero.

  5. Facts are Facts and comments are free, HH is the right person for the position as things stand now. I will definitely give him my vote tomorrow. I should admit that he was not my man in the previous elections. I suppose indeed God’s time is the best!!!

    • But then God does not interfere with freewill. People decide leaders, it ends there. Claiming that God interferes is just a lazy man’s approach to denying the application of statistic. Look, HH can campaign, many have come and gone and have been known for having run good campaigns. What I see is a clear rejection of a tribal party. I do not see how HH will win Copperbelt, Lusaka, Northern, Luapula, Central and Eastern Provinces. This will be a landslide.

      0

      0
    • Unfortunately his campaigns are not strong enough to defeat a sitting government. Even in boxing you can not beat a champion on points but only a clear knock out. Things went terribly wrong for HH when RB endorsed EL it meant one province added to Lungu. Any way he was not meant to be President of Zambia.

  6. Guys,
As an expat with 40 years solid mining experience on 4 continents, I’ve asked Bana Profiti to pack her suitcase. We would like to get away from Europe and help Zambia reconstruct. I hope we are given the chance. Bana Profiti is suffering from arthritis and can’t wait to get back to Milenge District in Luapula to mobilise her many nieces to help her out at home. Please, please, please:
    1) Vote early
    2) Vote wisely, give HH a chance
    3) Do not leave the counting centre until the results are officially published, to guard against rigging
    See you soon.

    • Look, you are Tonga and we know it. Your vote is not even a factor in this election because the same margin HH will win by in Southern Province, Easterners will reciprocate. HH will not win because the PF have effectively managed to turn Eastern Province into a stronghold. It appears Central Province too. My prediction;

      Edgar Lungu- 900,000
      Hakainde Hichilema- 500,000

With notable surprises where Nawakwi will perform better than Nevers Mumba!

    • Opinion polls where the sample does not have the same characteristics as the population from which it is drawn, one in which members of the sample are not randomly choosen from a sampling frame of eligible voters and one whose results are therefore not generalizable to the population? Come on, go to school and do some basic statistics to realize that Costa Mwansa’s poll that does not even meet the requirements of having a margin of error is unscientific?

  11. Based on a thorough analysis of events, i can now make a final prediction:

ECL-44% (wins Luapula, most parts of Northern, Muchinga, Eastern, Copperbelt, Lusaka, part of Central)

MMD-25% (wins part of Central, northern, North Western)

HH- 21% (wins Southern, Western and North Western)
    MMD

    OTHERS-10%

      Southern – 85%; NorthWestern – 80%; Western – 70%, Central – 50%, Lusaka and Copperbelt – 40%; Eastern and Northern- 30%; Muchinga 20% and Luapula -10%.

    @ All UPND Guys

HH has a very small chance, but to think that he can win by even 80% is surely hallucination from him and his muvi tv.
I doubting his thinking ability he is like mulyokela

Why did he loose zambezi seat just under 4 months ago. ?

Why did he loose Mangango just under 4 months ago ?

    The list is endless….

    • Awe, ba Muliokela who does not have the educational qualifications of HH is far much better. Let us not insult Mr. Muliokela. HH calls those who disagree with him and UPND dull. But he is the dullest politician world over I have come across who can accept an unscientific opinion poll as that done by Muvi. I wonder if he passed the Quantitative Research Methods course done by every UNZA student in the School of Humanities and Social Sciences when he was a student there!

  15. Is HH possibly convinced that he can fare so widely against Edgar? Your confidence sir is misplaced. Cant you see that the margin itself says there is an anomaly with Muvi’s opinion polls? It is seriously wrong. Edgar beats you by far in Rally attendances how come he can poll so poorly? There a difference between confidence and dreaming. Between being brave and bravado. Those opinion polls are seriously rigged to make you so confidence.

  18. So does HH really believe the polls conducted by MUVI TV to be reliable beyond any doubt. Surely the advisors would have taken into account that there are criterias that researchers will follow to formulate the polls that meet the standards. What interest of sponsor of the polls. Biasness of the researcher due to sponsors influence on the outcome.
Targetgroup/location and why that group. Geopolitics. How many people taking part are using internet/phones that are same. error of margin. Stronghold of HH/UPND. How many people outside Zambia are voting who will not have any impact on the outcome of the lections. If the outcome of the elections favour ED will HH concede defeat if he thinks he has won based on unscientific polls? Watch the space for troubles on 21.01.15 -and beyond.

  19. @ Grand, you seem to have selective amnesia. Mangango and Zambezi West were parliamentary bye elections and you of all the people should understand what characterises such elections – DCs left their stations for campaigns. all the 16 DCs from Western province were in zambezi campaigning for PF, even the for Luampa the same thing happened. people were drilling boreholes during voting. HH hasnt said he will win by 84% but you need to begin to ask yourself questions like why is it that even with the tangible roads that the PF has done in towns, people are doubting them? PF failed us on governance issues and they were not a coherent lot. if they win this election, then they really need to improve. i personally voted for MCS and PF but has swung to HH solely based on this score.

  20. And this is what you call a rally on the last day in Lusaka? Just look at the people at these picture, they are basically sympathizing with HH. Forth defeat in a row? Go rest ba mwisho, you are not selleable, you are not meant to be President.

  28. That is based on a sample by Muvi TV to make inferences about a population. It is scientific enough to draw a conclusion as to who will win. Why do you think most opinion polls at least agree that HH is winning although with different percentages? Why do you think this time around, pro ruling party opinion poll surveyors like Neo Simutanyi are jittery and cant declare the ruling party candidate as winning except those done by some bogus surveyors like Emmanuel Bwamba and the like? They know things are clear this time who is winning but they don’t want to recognise.

  29. HH said God had told him that he is going to win the election – that is prophecy from the mouth of HH. After the results we shall see whether HH heard the voice of God or the devil or his own voice or he was just lying. If God told him no rigging will succeed and HH will be president. If God said so no one will stand in his way. Who Am I to oppose what God has said. If Mr. president HH of UPND lose the election he should keep quite and stop accusing PF that it has rigged the election.
It is my view that if Mr. HH, won the election Zambia economy would be the worst in Zambian History. His plans is not different from KK, and we have been there before. KK was voted out and blamed him for bad economy because of subsidies, free things and free mealie meal coupons. Why should we go back?

    • Michael you are right. HH is just taking us back to Kaunda era. I wouldn’t imagine a situation like that. If he thinks he is going to provide free everything then he is one of the wrong ones. Kaunda times were so bad for me. Yes I had free education but I do not support that. I want to work for everything. I hate having to get everything free. As a Tonga (not being tribal) I was brought up to work hard and work for everything. So please HH do not think you can take us back to Kaunda times. I personally refuse your ideas. You are not really going to get my vote unless I am convinced between now and the time I will vote tomorrow though this seems far fetched. You are not among the bad ones that I have, but you are among the worse. You are lucky not to be on my worst list.

How dumb and lacking in Christian values can UPND Cadres be! Some of them even rob HIV/AIDS Project money and go….’oh well it’s only misappropriation….not stealing.’ Dumber and dumber still.

He is back to tie everyone into slavery. His love of money which he splashes around ostentatiously, buying people and confusing his voters turning their heads to a fake life of wealth with no principles.

Only people who hold money as a God will vote for this man. This is the Golden Calf every Christian has to reject. Your Moses to the promised Land is LUNGU, whodoes NOT flashmoneyforvotes!

As I prayed for everyone last night including HH, I felt strong discernment
That LUNGU is our right man.

I speak this in the name of Jesus, in truth and earnestness. You should consider my words here in prayer and if you are gifted too you will know whom to vote for.

Dear Father speak your choice in the hearts and minds of your chosen ones on these elections. Who is our leader?

NOW GO AND VOTE with that voice in that head.

  32. It goes without a word that HH has run the most well thought-out, clever and well-synchronised campaign in the history of Zambia’s opposition just like he is arguably the best corporate manager in the history of Zambia.

Well done HH! His organisational skills speak volumes!

To me this is not an extraordinary campaign HH has run but within what he is capable of doing that many people fail to do; he is talented that whatever he touches turns into gold because of his expanse of knowledge, skills and experience.

There is no doubt that his well thought-out, clever and well-co-ordinated campaigns give a picture of his organizational skills encompassing physical and mental organization and time management abilities.

And good organizational skills are essential for successful…

    • successful republican president to balance a host of different duties. This is part of the parcel of qualities HH can bring to the Zambian presidency.

Besides, it shows the type of government HH will run if people were to give him the mandate to serve Zambia.

For 50 years we have been searching through endless stacks of leaders and policies to find the one leader and policies that would move Zambia forward and we have such a leader in HH who knows the value of being organized.

HH’s organisational skills will definitely save time and help keep Zambia socially, economically and politically humming along smoothly for the benefit of all Zambians and posterity.

Your provincial predictions are meaningful. I expect a similar outcome. I might add the the magic number is 40%. EL will get no more than 40% with a margin of error of +\-2%.

The challenge for HH is getting above 40%. I think he will get 42% +\-1%.

  39. I had almost kept quiet until i saw those unrealistic opinion poll reults. 85% is not only wishful thinking but it is a product of grandiose hallucinations. the government of HE King Cobra (MHSRIP) did a commendable job to have anticipated an epidemic of heart attacks post 20 January. I can see Dipak on a stretcher followed by anotherone carrying Maureen Mwanawasa (with her illusionary doctor title fron up some Kabulonga shop), I can see Desai gasping, I can see nalumango frothing from her mouth, I can see Mutati with a stroke, I can see GBM with mouth pulled to one side of his ambi-abused yellow face calling Chama, I can see Membe soiling his pants and the post newspaper has not been published, I can see Mutembo Nchito going into self inpossed exile, I can see VJ losing his memory. 40. It’s like HH and the Muvi TV went into a slumber! Todate to them the PF is still fighting and has not filed in the nomination – you know what dreams can do to people. I fully understand the effect of losing an election felt by Halibelela Hukulusa HH but I kind of don’t seem to understand the effect on the MUVI business’ credibility. Maybe HH already has shares in MUVI TV. He is a business man and Muvi TV is in business. The biggest question is HOW CREDIBLE is the MUVI TV in their business dealings? I have refused to get the MUVI TV’s decoder(I just don’t know why- I hope it could just click on my mind, why, why not get a MUVI TV decoder, why?), but the question of Credibility still lingers on mind.
Anyways, tommorrow we prove them wrong!

  44. Don’t be moved by HH’s words, the man is full of pride, he is like Lucifer, to him there is no one in Zambia who could be his match or above him in every thing, be it in education, wealth, health, etc this is his way of thinking. Don’t Kubaba part 2 is yet to teach this man a lesson like late Dean and BY. Zambia will always be ruled by humble people and this has been proved on several occasions. This is Zambian politics and not western where opinion polls matter a lot. That opinion poll is a doing of MUVI and not the general populace. The fall and end of UPND is coming after 20th Jan 2015. The voting pattern has not changed in that we are using the 2011 voters register, most of the young people you are seeing at the rallies don’t even have voters. Time to pay back Zambian money.

    • Those opinion polls are all trash. They are sent by few paid up UPND members sending dozens and dozens and there is no credibility in such polls.

Just this afternoon, HH has already cried foul that the elections will not free and fair. Some of us who read in context have already deduced that the man has conceded defeat.

  45. Your Excellency Edgar Chagwa Lungu sir, please consider appointing Honorable Siamunene as a full Cabinet Minister on Monday, 26th January 2015. He is young, dedicated and resolved to uplift people’s lives and has shown that he is ready to work for people and on tribe.
We the PF supporters appreciate such individuals. He has ashamed his tribal cousins that Zambia is bigger than Southern Province. If he messes up, you can deal with him accordingly but he deserves being a Cabinet Minister.

It is my appeal your Excellency.

    MCS resting
    RB knocked out by NSM

  48. Oh!!!no..no please build houses for retired Presidents otherwise because of fear of post-presidency issues they will be eating inadvance taking advantage of incumbency. Look at what happened at Lima Bank where HH took advantage of incumbency and walked out with a house on Serval Road, Kabulonga. The idea of building a house acts as a deterrent thus the provision is noble.

  49. HH-UPND are really under 5s . The situation on the ground favours Lungu and here we have HH basing on the Movi TV opinion polls….and he calls himself an economist. Where did he do his economics , did he do any research methodology? I wonder what type of economist he is. Those Movi TV polls are fake in that they are not representative of the Zambian population.

Just wait for tomorrow HH-UPND will mourn uncontrollably.

Peace and Prosperity to Mother Zambia.

Intel is that Edgar C. Lungu will pull through with the numbers puring in from Copperbelt, Lusaka, Northern, Luapula, Eastern and Central Provinces. By the time they are done counting Copperbelt, it will be all but over.

  52. I start to think the opinion poll was conducted in Southern province. It is not possible for HH to win the election by more than 80% across the country. This can only happen in one province and that is Southern only where history has always repeated itself. It is though very possible for him to win the election with a less than 50%, but let us be factual and stop misleading the bloggers especially. May the best team win!

Look at the fruits of UPND and it’s Cadres. Money, money from Trees is being offered to intelligent Zambians. HHs Utopia will not be delivered in 1.9 year approx. before 2016 elections. So why change gov’ts?

The second of the Fruits of UPND and it’s Cadre is Violence, Threats, Disrespect for others differing opinion……..you have read their opinions of your differing postings on here.

Third Fruit, Dillusional. How can anyone think they will win based on a middling Entertainment Outlet like MUVI that is clearly paid for and biased?

Fruits of the Leader himself are telling. As Sara loudly and boldly puts it ! HH IS Corporate, Organisational ( you know flip charts, stats etc), but how does thatappeal to the poor uneducated?…

Kay, If Edgar Lungu indeed not a Moslem as you seem to suggest, why hasn’t he repudiated this accusation publicly? He has been mute over it. Is he hiding something? And for God’s sake, why is he fearing to come out in the open and deny that he is a Moslem?

I think EL is a conman. Any wonder he has been tight-lipped about Ruth Mbandu’s death. He only used it as a whip to try to subdue Miles Sampa into submission. This is the guy some of the Zambians are excited about, wanting him to be their president! It is a disgrace.
