Janza: We will miss Sinkala

Chipolopolo coach Honour Janza says Zambia will miss defensive midfielder Nathan Sinkala who has been ruled out of the 2015 Africa Cup because of a knee injury.

National Team Doctor Joseph Kabungo confirmed on Monday that Sinkala will be out of action for at least four weeks after suffering a knee injury in the game against DR Congo on Sunday.

The 24 year old Grasshopper midfielder limped off the pitch in the 85th minute as Zambia drew 1-1 with DR Congo in Sunday’s opening Group B match in Ebebiyin.

“What has happened to him is beyond his control so we will miss him as a team because he is one of the instrumental players especially in the midfield…but maybe there is another Nathan in the making, so we are unshaken, we always play as a team,” Janza said.

“We came 23, every player that we have got is ready to play, it is sad not just for us but with him too because I am sure he wanted to finish the tournament,” added.

Meanwhile, either Zesco United midfielder Kondwani Mtonga or Nkana utility defender Donashano Malama are likely to replace Sinkala as coach Honour Janza selects his best eleven for the next match against Tunisia slated for Thursday.

    • Spencer Sautu is the boy of the block!!! He is direc replacement for Nathan. Let him shine, the young man is destined to Arsenal.

  1. Zambia needs a leader and stabilizer in the middle of the field. The omission of Chris Katongo for some cheap reason is there for all to see. Now I know why some managers are fired

  2. See this coach, to me Nathan was the weakest link in midfield. The guy has been playing below par ever since he went to Grasshopper fimofimo.
