Mweene set for continental debut

Zesco United and Power Dynamos are not the only teams with strong Zambian interest in 2015 continental action this weekend.

Three other Zambia international stars will be in action for their respectively clubs’ on Saturday and Sunday.

Zambia first-choice goalkeeper Kennedy Mweene will surprisingly make his continental debut this weekend despite his vast international experience.

Mweene will be in action with South African club Mamelodi Sundowns in the CAF Champions League are away in sunny Seychelles to play Saint Michel in a preliminary round, first leg tie on Saturday.

Defender Aaron Katebe is also in action this Sunday with FC Platinum of Zimbabwe who face Sofapaka away in Nairobi in a CAF confederation Cup preliminary round first leg match.

On the same date in Johannesburg, ex-Zambia captain Christopher Katongo will be home with Bidvest Wits who host Royal Leopards of Swaziland in a Confederation Cup initial round fixture.

  1. Good for Zambia.We are talented alright,but it had to take Herve Renard for us to win our first AFCON.At club level,we will again need a foreign coach or the TP Mazembe way for our players to test club glory.
