Nkana scheme to disconnect Zesco United

Share

Nkana coach Beston Chambeshi is hopeful his side will finally overcome nemesis Zesco United when they meet in Saturday’s 2015 Samuel ‘Zoom’ Ndhlovu Memorial Charity Shield semifinals.

The Charity Shield defending champions take on 2014 FAZ Super Division winners Zesco in a semifinal doubleheader at Arthur Davies Stadium in Kitwe.

The Kitwe giants hold the unenviable record of never having beaten Zesco in all competition since the ambitious Ndola club was promoted in 2004.

“History is written and history is broken and so we will just keep our fingers crossed and see how we will perform on Saturday,” Chambeshi said.

Chambeshi added that Nkana were still a formidable side despite losing four key players in the 2015 offseason inpartcular striker Ronald “Sate Sate” Kampamba who joined Egyptian club Wadi Degla earlier this month on a two-and-half-year deal.

“Life should continue and yes we have a replacement and we will move ahead,” Chambeshi said.

Other departures are striker Festus Mbewe who joined Red Arrows and Kelvin Mubanga who moved across the Kitwe-Ndola Dual Carriageway to join Power Dynamos.

Defender Christopher Munthali has returned to Power after a two-year loan stay at Nkana.

Meanwhile in the lunchtime semifinal kick off, Power Dynamos play Zanaco.

Power will be without striker Felix Sunzu who has failed to recover from an ankle injury that saw him miss the teams CAF Confederation Cup trip to Sudan last week.

Zanaco start life under promoted Mumamba Numba who replaces his former boss Aggrey Chiyangi who has been resigned as technical advisor.
