Zesco Utd face Kaloum test

Share

Zesco United’s ability to reach the group phase of the 2015 CAF Champions League will be tested on Saturday when the Zambian champions
host AS Kaloum of Guinea in Ndola.

The two sides clash in the first leg match of the Champions League first round at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium.

Zesco and Kaloum are coming into this match with two contrasting fortunes from the preliminary round.

Zesco struggled to go past Mbabane Swallows in the preliminary round despite winning 2-1 on aggregate.

But Kaloum eased past Ivory Coast’s Sewe Sport 3-1 over two legs to book a date against Zesco.

However, Zesco coach George Lwandamina believes he has a team capable of upsetting Kaloum.

“I think we have a team that can play at any level. I don’t know much about the other team but I will base my judgement on our strength,”
Lwandamina said.

Kaloum coach Francois Zahoui is upbeat over his team’s chances ofgetting a desirable result in Ndola.

“We will be very cautious of playing away from home but our focus is to get a good result here,” Zahoui said.

Zesco are facing Kaloum without star striker Jackson Mwanza who is suspended for getting two yellows cards in the previous round and talented Nigerian defender Ayo Oluwafemi who is nursing a knee injury.
