United Party for National Development (UPND) President Hakainde Hichilema on Tuesday 31 March addressed the prestigious Royal Africa Society in London. This is according to the statement and pictures released to the media by the party’s information department.

According to the statement, the the event was over-subscribed with academics, high-level business representatives and Zambian and international professionals who crowded into the auditorium to hear the UPND leader speak.

The statement further went on to say that Mr Hichilema addressed the audience on the ‘Prospects for Zambia 2016’. His starting point was explaining that the UPND is seeking public office to resolve the failure of past leadership to convert Zambia’s great wealth into benefit for the people. Failed leadership has let the Zambian people down time and time again, Mr Hichilema asserted.

Arguing that you cannot redistribute poverty, Mr Hichilema stressed the importance of prioritising an economic turnaround for Zambia that would see local and international businesses flourish and, critically, increase employment opportunities, as well as revenues for investment in education and healthcare services.

Mr Hichilema also spoke about governance as a partner to social and economic development, reiterating the need for the new constitution that Zambians are still waiting for. He spoke out against abuses of the Public Order Act.

The address was followed by an extended question and answer session moderated by the Executive Director of the Royal Africa Society Mr Richard Dowden. Audience members posed questions on topics from agriculture and healthcare, to learnings from the 2015 presidential campaign and the prospects of a free and fair election in 2016. Mr Hichilema said the UPND will continue to listen to and share its vision and message with the Zambian people during the next 16 months, as well as to hold the Government to account by presenting alternative policy approaches.

The UPND leader is on an oversees trip where he has been invited by various organisations, business people wishing to invest in various sectors of the Zambian economy, and academic institutions.

    • Is this the man they call: “Under Five?” Indeed, it pays to go to school. Those people who keep on calling this gentleman “Under Five” must be the dullest and least educated dunderheads who blindly continue to subsist on imprudence.

    • ‘According to the statement, the the event was
      over-subscribed with academics, high-level
      business representatives and Zambian and
      international professionals who crowded into
the auditorium to hear the UPND leader speak’…..pwa ha ha ha. Imwe mwebantu, this ka room is tiny….don’t exaggerate the attendance in your reporting.

    • Powerful!!! I watched the video, presentation. HH is the man, only that Zambians are… I don’t know, lishimo or fyaku bantu fye.

    • True son of the soil, humble, articulate and distinguished .HH is a league of his own. HH is an Economic pragmatician,he is an institution on his own, He is entrepreneurial Genius and a true reflection of Rugs to Riches. Zambians should take keen interest in such persons to discover what and how they can better ourselves. Sheer jealous will not take as any were. I was watching a documentary on GBM, man is stinking rich in steady of Zambians organizing a forum were GBM can share is entrepreneurship ideas we always call such people Satanists or thieves. What’s wrong with us? are we cursed or what? we seem to appreciate poverty and tribalism. Corrupt people are eulogized and upright people are despised by those who don’t believe in hard work but stealing.

    • Mei Matungu, why should you insult fellow compatriots? You are the one who is the worst dunderhead and a nincompoop! HH has perfomred a good thing and is marketing Zambia even as he criticises GRZ policies. He is informing the world that Zambia has a robust democracy and could easily change her fortrunes when lead properly. You on the other hand had to come on this blog to sound like a real mashed potato brained lunatic.
HH discussed how he could work to increase employment opportunity through good and sound education policies and FDI through stimulating confidence in investors. You should be discussing his suggested policies on areas such as education, agriculture and education, instead of making him unpopular by insulting fellow voters. Wee chinangwa wee!

    • PLEASE PLEASE… can someone in the HH Camp polish up this guy. He still looks like a villager. Same hair style since 1979. He can afford some cream to polish up his looks.

HH has a big problem with marketing his image… no offence here, but just telling the truth. He is also needs to lighten up and throw away this corporate image.

    • @ 1.7 Munyelo Pwete

Any wonder they call you “Munyelo Pwete!” How denigrating to the woman whose womb carried you for nine months; considering you are now proving to be not only a dunderhead but also a self-confessed psychopath. Can you give one good reason why you think this gentleman deserves the despicable title “Under Five” that you have imprudently imposed on him?

    • If HH or any random Zambian politician comes to speak to us in London then they are speaking to intellectuals, before that we are just a bunch of casual workers wiping old people’s bums! Perhaps if a few white folks are in attendance then we are intellectuals otherwise we are just a bunch of casual workers wiping old people’s bums. This is how you folks in Zambia reason and sadly from among such confused lot, we have to elect someone to become our economic saviour, I think we are going to need a lot of Prayers!

    • @ 1.10 Mobile Phone Gondwe

Yes, sadly indeed. It’s the reason Zambia is Zambia – our stinking thinking is our Achilles heel.

    • So what point are you trying to make? It is a Society and it invites those of note to present their ideas. This time it was HH may be next time it will be Kambwili or Kaingu.

    • ati ni ka 5 zero next year, because things are different on the ground. HH message is not getting through to the grassroot voters especially to the urban voters of lusaka and cb

  1. This is commendable. As long as our leaders put aside their personal and party desires to market Zambia urther; then we are headed in a right direction…because Zambia is not for PF or UPND, but, its for all of us depsite ou political and religious affiliations.

Seeing EL and HH, speak highly of Zambia and the potential she has on, their respective trips abroad, fills my heart with joy.
Kudos EL and HH, am a proud Zambian today. Keep marketting our mother Zambia.

  2. Chimbwi afwile intangala!! Surely are these tired people in the audience the voters back home? This is the biggest problem the Under Five has, he thinks the whites will come and resolve the economic problems we have.

Even me, if I sent in my abstract these chaps, I could have been give the platform to address them. HH must be serious a person first and take a very serious introspection as to why the Zambian people will continue rejecting him.

When H.E. Mr. Lungu is in China to find practical solutions to the challenges the country has, this mumbwe is busy making himself a f00l in the eyes of colonial masters!
Give alternatives here in Zambia and not there UK which milked Zambia of its natural resources to death.

Viva Lungu 2016 again and again.

    • Dont insult you *****. Remember your near dying Lungu won by a mere 27,000 votes so come 2016 anything can happen particularly that Chagwa anagwa pa women’s day. Throat cancer///

    • @secret code you a true example of witchcraft. such levels of jealous and ignorance are a serious draw back to civilization and modernization. Zambia will for ever remain part of a global village. We should compete positively at the world stage. Our leader should lead the way. You don’t need to be president to contribute to Zambia’s economic development. That’s what HH is doing through such forums in UK and those investments in ZAMBEEF,PICK&PAY,SHOPRITE,GAMESTORES and many more.HH has contributed a lot to Zambia even outside state house. If given the opportunity he will simply perform better. Who does not need a cheaper house loan ,car loan, Land and Capital for small businesses. A better pay after a hard day’s job. Come on Zambians ,lets stop to be petty, we deserve better.

    • To me, HH’s presentation was terribly prepared for the following reasons;
“… His starting point was explaining that the UPND is seeking public office to resolve the failure of past leadership…” No reasonable investor would take his money into a failed state.
“…Arguing that you cannot redistribute poverty,..” Why should an investor risk his money in poverty stricken country where there’s no purchasing power?
“…Mr Hichilema also spoke about governance … reiterating the need for the new constitution that Zambians are still waiting for…” Which investor would risk his money into a constitutionless country?
“…He spoke out against abuses of the Public Order Act….” which sensible investor would rick his money in a country that has no public order? To me HH has failed…

    • @ Secret Code and Above board, a quick question did HH request to travel and address the Royal Africa Society or he was an invitee? You both seem off tangent and both must know that any presentation follows a laid down structure as demanded as is too for an essay. In this case you two would have done better to think through your arguments than rush into mere attacks as that way you could have stood a better chance of bringing someone like me around to your way of understanding.

  3. Well presented mr president, assuring the world that in Zambia competent leadership is still available despite poor calibre of current leaders in the nation.

  4. This man represents the best prospects for a better Zambia, Tribalism and silly part politics aside, he is the best candidate.

  5. If the majority of the Zambian electorate was not made up of illiterate tribalists easily bribed by shake-shake and chitenges, HH today would be president.

    • as long as you solicity for the vote calling us the voters illitrate we will continue voting for our fellow illitrates, and for your own information its a proven fact that from 2006 zambians have voted for illitrates leaving your educated ichilema. the simple tactic is simply sell your manifesto and not name calling. i hope to see an appeal that will stop name calling on those of the opposite political views so help zambia God.

    • Continue calling those of humble background, dimunitive and insulting names and UPND will never win. In a country with majority uneducated and with certain tribal phobias, a political party must bring itself to the levels of the people it wants to lead for it to win. Speak to them with love and embrace their inadequacies then you will become their leader. Insult them and call then disrespectful names like”illiterate tribalists” and you are feeding their phobia and they push you away. Ask HH to hire people like me early enough and he will win in 2016.
I am from a very humble back ground and grew up in the rural area like him, but I was fortunate to be privilleged and got educated to a masters degree level and I have a good and secure job, but I could help realise HH’s dream.

    • Well said, PF won because of the illiterates and the thugs that were throwh k50 for shake shake and the women telela chitenges. H H is civilised, speaks clearly and good english too and is very presentable as a president should be.

    • True, our country is full of illiterate beings. Even if they knew of an individual about to save them from illiteracy & grinding poverty, the Sickness of illiteracy like a virus would prevail, in their choice of leadership.
These are beings that are easily conned by Crooks, Pimps, Spivs, & Pirates, so they will NEVER see the light. You just need to look at the Leaders they idolise, Kambwili, Kampyongo, Kaingu.
Empty tin- (Copperstone University Graduate) Kambwili is even alleged to have corruptly usurped government land to build his ill gotten housing complex, & these hunger stricken Zambians seem to think this is normal. They really deserve every ounce of Poverty, & suffering that afflicts them. If you cannot vote wisely, & see the wider picture, then enjoy & reap what you sow

  6. Zambia should go the Nigerian way of Change.
Change, change. change, from poor, sickly leaders to competent, vibrant and health leaders.
Time to attend to needy national issues as spent on medical tours, seeking cure for a president than nationa cure.

    • Buhari is as old as they come but yo right still – change, change, change ! 1991 it was “The Hour” that went horribly wrong till LPM and then the absolute pathological failure ! 2016 is the last chance exit to redemption !!

    • Nigerian opposition parties forgot about the pride of being called MMD, UPND, FDD, UNIP etc. They dissolved and formed one part. Completely new and solid. They went to convention and elected their leader in less than one year. Here the problem is UPND who want people and other parties to support it. MMD would like UPND to dissolve and join them.

Mr Buhari faced President Goodluck Jonathan, for a second time at the polls. This time, he had the advantage of being the candidate of a united opposition grouping, the All Progressives Congres

    • @ 11.2 Amagenge

You have aptly observed regarding “Nigerian Opposition.” It’s called political maturity. Zambia is still a toddler.

    • @ 11.2 Amagenge

Yes, Zambia is still a toddler in that regard. Opposition leaders in Zambia vie for political visibility and not winning an election per Se. They are simply a joke, a whole BIG JOKE!

  7. Seriously speaking those of you who listened to that 30min talk what message did hh put accross that would send the potential investor itching for Zambia. He talked about the protest he funded those boys to make illegal noise in the city. In short he was discrediting zambians in the face of the whole world. Morgan changrai when he was invited also spoke just like hh rubbishing everyone else and putting himself like a saint. That’s another failed opposition leader after Morgan. People let’s just support Edgar he is better than this good for nothing man.

    • My friend ask some pastors to pray for you, Don´t let Zambian go down just because you have been given a ka small job.

  8. Which investment are these crooks talking about in Zambia? They are so scared that China and Asian economies have really opened up and their investment in Africa and Zambia in particular have made so much positive impact on the lives of the people.

How many British companies are here in Zambia since we got our independence? How many Zambians are employed by such companies if at all they exist? Why British Airways withdraw its services from Zambia? Let them keep their Britain and we shall keep our Zambia and look to Asia and Middle East for serious investments.

We can no longer be cheated by these mwisas no! Ifintu ni choncholi full stop.

    • I can think of some reasons why British Airways withdrew from Zambia being; refueling became too expensive, the disposable currency among Zambians was getting more scarcer for locals to board and, the investment atmosphere in Zambia was no longer attractive to the Britons who opted to look elsewhere. Who then would want to maintain flying a loss making route?

  9. Mwanya ba upnd, nothing you do is going to bring into plot 1, nothing, not with child at the helm of the party. But again, upnd has no other leader apart from their baby leader who has nothing to offer. Come 2016, you will cry again!

  10. HH can make a far much better president in all angles than the incumbent. Its no secret that our economy is crumbling. There will never be a better time to remove a ruling party from power than 2016. The ball is in our court, continue wallowing in abject poverty PF is the way to go, having a visionary leadership to steer the economy forward UPND (HH) is the only way. Make a choice now your vote count

    • Keep dreaming as you have always been. Simply because someone OLD (at 72 years!) and a coup leader in Nigeria has won those elections does not mean your Under Five can do it here! It takes serious political acumen and a phenomenal to unseat the ruling party.

Remember Mr. Lungu has only been in office for less than two months and he is building his firm foundation which in my my view will be very difficult to shake. Watch this space ELC is very intelligent and knows where he is taking this great nation.

In a coup of weeks, you will witness massive development activities countrywide and prices of essential commodities going down, so where will the Under Five run to?

      PF is here til 2026

  11. I cannot see any one in the audience who looks like a Zambian voter. All of them are foreigners. 2016 ECL nafutinafuti!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  12. Doubting British. They dictate our copper prices and other market valuables. The pound still remains strong. As a country we cannot do away with British. We just need to work together.
At whose expense is HH and his entourage in London? I believe he is leading by example.

I am not a politician but find sense in his trip. Zambian we can change for the better without Chinese, British and so forth. We just need to learn survival skills

    • It seems that Zambians are so used to poverty that they now believe they cant have better lives. One can see how some people will never see anything beyond tribe in HH. Its like living in a dilapidated house with dirty walls, a visitor will notice this with horror while you cant see anything wrong!. I’m glad I live abroad with nice roads fresh air and civilization. Some Zambians especially PF supporters make our country a hopeless situation. EL is in China for treatment and opening new consulates and the ignorant PF supporters cheer him on! Poverty and illiteracy is indeed a curse. PF supporters travel and see how other people are living! Don’t drag the rest of the good people of Zambia into poverty and hopelessness. This man said he had no vision and you cheered him on! Wake up!

    • Just shut up if you know nothing about world economics. Do you know how may territories these thieves control? Go to Australia and New Zealand and tell me which flag you will see. Can you compare France or German to UK?

If you cant respect yours at home, you will forever die in illusions bwana. Wake up from your slumber and start believing in your own people and Government.
German is biggest economy in Europe but you don’t see them yap anyhow, they believe in productivity just like the Chinese and that where Zambia is headed to under the able leadership of H.E. ELC.

  13. Its high time we woke up and support our leaders. HH is in London to sale zambia’s potential for investment same with EL, therefore as we go to 2016 let us all join hands and give HH a chance. Viva zambia

    • Just for the record, HH WILL NEVER BE PRESIDENT OF ZAMBIA. You can do whatever you want, it will never happen! Zambia does not need blood and Satanist money, NO NO. We need clean and straight leaders here.

  14. Next, mr Lungu would be visiting India and Pakistan. Chinese are the only investors Lungu can manage to convince to Zambia with their fake products. No wonder Zambian police stations look like scrap yards because of the fake vehicles the government buys from China. Let the Chinese come and finish the mukuta tree and we call them investors .

    • Baane its not Mukuta tree but Mukula tree. which we have failed to exploit sustainably as a country. We are losing a lot of forex when all we needed to do was conduct inventories. Know what we have and set guidelines on what to harvest. Mind you its not every Mukula tree that is useful. yo need mature, high oil density with BDH >30cm. lets wake up and selectively harvest the tree.

  15. Real leaders leaders go to woo investors from developed countries, while vissionless leaders go to plead with managers of back yard companies who manufacture fake products using prisoners and students in Guangdong China. Well done HH! The Chinese don’t need convincing to go to any country as long as they know there is something they can steal. Lungu should have just advertised the mukula tree and they would come in their numbers

    • Just take a look around yourself how many things are in China even where you seem to be blinded? Accept it or die China is the biggest economy in the world and it is here to stay. With over 1.6 billion native people everything is in perfect order.
I don’t this in Britain, NO!!!

    • You and Mei Matungu are great contributors to UPND’s failure to win an election. You are antagonistic and myopic in your public sentiments. Those you insult have longer memories and when you lose you cry foul.

    • just for the record how much investment did HH woo from his talk? My guess is ZERO. How can HH, who has failed to convince what you UpDn cadres call illiterates to vote for him, manage to convince the educated Britons to come and invest in Zambia. We will wait and see how much investment will pour into my Zambia from your Britain. I can take a bet with any body willing. My bet is there will be ZERO investment. Nevers Mumba who was in South Africa wooing investors did a better job than HH.

    • @ 20.2 Mundetele

You decry “UPND’s failure to win an election.” I don’t. Neither do I “cry foul” when they lose. I am non-partisan. I am as critical of UPND as I am of any other party. I believe that UPND are smart enough to win an election without my help and despite the nature of the contents of my contributions on LT. You can challenge me on the facts of what I right. But don’t associate me with any political party. I am a follower of none.

    • @ 20.2 Mundetele

A caveat I am compelled to add is that in Zambia, few politicians have won an election based upon the way people voted. Among those, I will cite KK in 1964, Frederick Chiluba in 1991 and Michael Sata in 2011 and presumably Levy Mwanawasa in 2006. The rest of the elections were either cooked in broad day light or speculated to have been cooked.

Why do you think Edgar Lungu still retains the Defence Minister portfolio? Because that is what landed him in State House. There is no question that Zambia Air Force interfered with with the electoral process. It is speculated that even ECZ had its hands deep into it. In that regard, Zambian democracy is only a pie in the sky. Failure to rig was the only reason an incumbent lost a Nigerian election this time around.

    • @ 20.2 Mundetele

In view of the foregoing, do you see why the impression you are attempting to impose on our minds is fallacious? UPND won the elections in 2001 and in 2015 respectively. But each of those times, the election was snatched from them. Why must we blame it on the way the people voted? They lost in 2006, 2008 and 2011 respectively; and understandably so. Why? Simply because the other parties had better candidates – Levy Mwanawasa in 2006 and Michael Sata in both 2008 and 2011 respectively. And yet you can still afford to dream and speculate that Mei Matungu’s comments on LT is the reason UPND has been losing elections. Tell me if you are not crazy?

  16. “HH said that UPND will continue to listen and share its vision and message with the Zambian people during the next 16 months, as well as to hold govt to account by presenting alternative policy approaches”. What a wonderful message. This is what is supposed to be put into action. This is what the people of Zambia have been crying for. I commend HH for that thought.

However, i have my own reservations. From the time HH lost the elections his message has been, “i won, the election were stolen by PF”. “Lungu this, Lungu that”. Are these alternative policy approaches? Has HH ever advised Lungu on any matter? Or has HH ever sought audience with the head of state to discuss any matter of national importance? Is mocking the president and wishing him failure an alternative approach?…

  17. @ Kwazi

Please give us a break for God’s sake! In today’s age you expect PF supporters not to have travelled the world? Well, if you can compare Britain to China, then I ask you to travel to the East and the Tiger economies before you die.

  18. HH forward forward…HH forward forward HH forward forward. The Nigerian way is soon approaching. We did in 1991, 2011….next 2016. Paya Farmer will follow suite in 2016. Real brains like HH answer questions in high profile meetings without gumbling. HH2016.

    • What is the definition of high profile? I cant see any in this auditorium. These are typical classrooms I used to attend my lectures whilst studying in UK. Please don’t make me think we are still in old Zambia Airways times when you used to cheat us.
There is nothing special in that audience except of course some black slaves and their white masters.

  19. ONE OF OUR STAFF WHO IS IN LONDON ATTENDED THE ADDRESS AND HE HAS DESCRIBED IT AS HOLLOW. IT LACKED THE TRUE REFLECTION OF THE CURRENT FORCES THAT HAS PUT ZAMBIA WHERE IT IS AND HOW TO TURN ROUND THE FORCES SO THAT COUNTRY RECORDS POSITIVE ECONOMIC AND SOCIAL GROWTH IN ALL THE SECTORS OF ECONOMY ie EDUCATION, HEALTH, AGRICULTURE, TOURISM AND MINING.

  20. @Above board

I truely agree with you. HH was accorded a chance to speak positive about zambias potential to host investors but he goes to throw mud at the leadership and the Zambian people. Nervous mumba spoke very well and positive about Zambia. Just like Morgan Tsvangirai hh will never be president. Next time Upnd don’t send mashombe blue jeans to speak about Zambia. El is busy marketing Zambia while hh is ruthlessly damaging it. How can you tell investors that they can only invest in Zambia when hh becomes president which he will never be.

    • @ 27 Sponge Bob

Sponge, I concur. You have made a worthy observation indeed. However, why do you end with “.. which he will never be”? Is this out of malice?

  21. @ sido mark , nothing personal my brother but it takes one to know the other you yourself is a true reflection of a wizard. how do call your friend a witch. you must be a witch yourself.

  22. Well, well, well!

Zambia is back on the international forum with a bang! What with the Republican President H.E. Edgar Lungu on a state visit to China and two outstanding citizens, Mr. Hakainde Hichilema (Opposition UPND President) and Mr. Fidelis Chulu (ZCAS student and GSEA winner) addressing the Royal Africa Society in London, and yet to represent Zambia at the Information Technology Forum in Washington respectively…

One can not feel any more proud(er) of these great sons of the soil…!

  23. Which Investment. Just last week UK firm is operning a Security Guards company to employ 1000 security guards. This is from UK our colonial animals but contrast this from China where EL is.
Shut up U5. Nothing will come out that.

  24. Stopped reading at “ROYAL AFRICAN SOCIETY” We are free under Jesus. Reason countries like China, Russia and the US are great. They call their own shots.

  25. @ spong bob

you are spot on my bother, hh is only demarketing Zambia how can you tell investors to come and invest in Zambia only when you take over power?? shameless hh takatekepo.

  26. Hungry Hyena is ugly, in this picture he appears as if he wants to suck blood from the muzungu. Sata was handsome, he used to smile in public not this mabisi

  27. Well ,well, well, why should royal Africa be in London , and not in Africa? those are mistakes Africans make , just how does it reflect on the African continent . Africans can be funny how many times are you going to behave as if you don’t have your own continent; it is time you woke up from slumber and start doing the correct thing . than just being visitors

  28. If some one can explain what HH meant, with leadership failure since leadership doesn’t stand out alone without stakeholders , and managers on the ground. If anything hh has been part of the leadership failure, since he was in the fore front to loot the fabric of Zambian economy during privatization.
The failures of African economies is the massive corruption that deprives the people of Africa; and also some crooked investors who come in sheep skins , yet they are hungry wolves to plunder, the little that Africans are still holding on to. that is the simple truth

  29. Both men are selling their country, each his own style. Similarly, mature supporters celebrate their heroes unprovocatively. Only a f00l can do the contrary.

  30. @Shilimubemba, ha,ha,ha rephrase question why are in london and not africa? you should be proud of your own home land. Global village mr.not bemba.

  31. Its a feature of good leadership to present good investments prospect of the country

Internal politics must be distinguished from external politics as investments are being advertised in Zambia

A true leader will know what to say and keep what is fairly right and not appropriate

I have never known any visiting opposition leader speak so grossly and irresponsibly on the salient features of the country

As we have watched the attendance the room was a small smaller than the unza in some part of London very few in representation

Good effort but learn to be discrete and never paint the country more gloomy like we heard and listened from you

do not be a sell-out HH

  32. That is very good, all Zambians who sell the country’s potential to investors abroad should be commended, whether they are from ruling or opposition parties.

But I see a lot of similarities between Sata and HH in trying to lobby or canvass support in foreign countries. Is it something which rubbed on HH from his alliance with the old man of Zambian politics?
I also wonder whether one day Ed Miliband will come to Zambia to tell us how the Conservatives are not delivering, how they are damaging the British economy etc etc, and explain to why he wants to take over power from David Cameron?

I also wonder whether one can only improve the lives of Zambians through politics, are there no other avenues, such as HH using these fora to partner with foreign investors?

  33. What I mean is that some people’s talents lie in business, but that business prowess does not necessarily make them good politicians or good political leaders. Ask Bill Gates whether he can make a good political leader, a good President of USA. He has already answered the question by what he is doing for the global community including Zambia, the home of HH.

I also wonder whether going to UK (or anywhere abroad) and disparage Zambia will win you votes back home. In particular, remember that UK is our former colonial master. Ask Guy Scott how Zambians reacted spontaneously when they thought that he was harrassing their own when as acting President he thought that he had all the power to fire Edgar Lungu.

  34. He does not listen that is why they laugh at him in communities where politics and regional strengths are enshrined on the world stage

Its also lack of understanding of global politics and scramble for Zambians economy between the Chinese and other world powerful economies like the US and Britain Its a silent issue

The Us and Britons have always been Zambians but the Chinese are making enrolled, they understand Zambia and Namwala where nawakwi has gone to dig a deep tank better than HH They cannot be cheated as Zambia is an extension of Britain and Us and now the Chinese community that lost touch is also trying to come back and room in

    HH learn global politics and…

    • @ 43 Shimucitapanono

Yes, the Nigerian voting pattern is admirable. However, even that would not have cut it for Buhari had Goodluck and team done what they did in 2011 – rig. This time around they could not. It was simply impossible to rig that Nigerian election. Otherwise, the common belief is that Buhari had been the legitimate winner of the previous election. It just got stolen from him.

  35. Both gentlemen were selling their country each his own style. Similarly, mature supporters celebrate their heroes unprovocatively. Only a f00l can do the contrary. Where do you fall?

  36. HH will surely go down the Buthelezi,Besige and Tsangarai Way.As long as he remains a tribal Leader like Buthelezi, he will never be President. The bloggers at ZWD do not vote and the people who are important(The real Voters) have no time for blogging. We saw this hype before in Zimbabwe and SA(Chief Buthelezi) and that’s how HH will fade away. Guy Scott told the UK government that HH was just a small tribal Leader and before the bye-elections HH found Scott to be his Hero.It shows how unprincipled HH is, but then he is just a small tribal Leader according to Scott.UPND were against Sata for making Nchito DPP but today they are siding with Nchito.HH is willing to sleep with the cartel just to get to plot one but he ought to ask Morgan Tsvangarai,Kabimba or Buthelezi and learn some history

    • @ 48 Habazooka

He who asks for the riddle becomes a riddle. You sound as tribal as are those guys in UPND. Frankly, I have no regard for their tribalism. As a person, however, HH appears to be much less of that. It’s the people who discriminate him on the basis of his tribe who are tribal.

    • I think people hate HH because he will NOT entertain laziness, once he comes in power we have to really work hard for our money in simple English I’m saying the honey moon will be over.

  37. when those whites were invitig HH they didnt say the leader of the opposition but in his personal capacity as a citizen of zambia who will give true reflection of zambia than lairs who will promote a country to a certain level when you are not. was sata invited when he was in opposition? no because he was not a calibre to face educeted economists what was he going to say nothing. he didnt go to present zambia he went to present the economic industry. let those who know things do it to prevent embarasement from these tubura rasas

  38. The problem with HH is a common problem of those who want power for the sake of it. They are good at observing problems and trumpeting them but have no solution except that it is only them who can fix the problems. I did not get to hear his question and answer session. The speech, I have it. It is not radical. It is not new. He still has the same old paradigms which if I re-read them to him in other words he would be shocked that that is what he had said. Example he says governance and business must begin to speak the same language. Firstly how this is a solution for any particular problem I can’t figure out. secondly he is plainly saying government is opposed or currently at odds with business and that government must fall in line behind business. Business leading government is a…

  39. U5 HH will never be president for mother Zambia
It is not because of his tribe Tonga but of lack of appealing, marketability, inspiring, promising, confidence, attraction, humor, smile, laugh, positivity about mother Zambia and its dominant Bembas and their cousins, no attractive traditional ceremony where he comes from and above all not admitting that he stole from Zambians during privatization.
HH is nothing, I repeat is NOTHING in 2016. Just wait a bit.

  40. Knowing global politics as opposed to local constituencies is. Important

Imagine you crossing over to the neighbor and say to expose your bedroom

He should watch how his colleagues debate and handle issues on BBC debate 2015. People were amuzed

Local constituency is better than global and sometimes discussed in camera

  41. The idiocy being shown by some of these commentators is beyond comprehension. HH made it very clear that Zambia has a lot of potential “A rich country with a lot of poor people”, the question then was why? poor leadership and that is fact and not denigrating the country. Do you reckon those businessmen, those professionals and those Zambians sat in that place are so stupid that they don’t know the problems of Zambia? We do, the investors want to know that these are problems that can be overcome by good leadership so investor confidence can be secured. For instance one lady indicated they are a large multinational insurance conglomerate, interested in growing their business and what these people are looking for is a conducive environment.

  42. THE LAST ELECTIONS HAVE TAUGHT US THAT CROWDS DO NOT MEAN ANYTHING. HOWEVER IT WAS GOOD FOR HH TO SHOW HIS KNOWLEDGE OR IGNORANCE SO THAT THOSE PEOPLE CAN HEAR FOR THEMSELVES THE MESSAGE THAT WAS REJECTED BY THE ZAMBIANS ON 20TH JANUARY 2015.

  43. we know the people in camera there are not from investing communities we say decision makers okay

we can mention those in the picture name by name and who they representative effectively

Real investors in britton donot mind much the Zambian scenarios they know Zambia better than some of us and often willingly speak well of Zambia and invest in most cases ignoring the so called political risk

they know the country profile of Zambia and many have been and have relations in the Toms and Arthurs around

  44. You can bury your head in the sand and massage your small ego, what british investors do you know? Some of you guys epitomise everything the country is, poverty of thought, unfortunately poverty kills. With the name Solwezi Mabanga I would have thought you would be intelligent, may be that is why you have added the mabanga.

  45. Which insurance firms in AIG Old Mutual and Northern rock have that mandate to change course/mission and invest in Zambia “‘HH firm concentration index so high”‘

It will take massive given premiums to GDP and type of business engaged

Big containerised and ship business Massive infrastructural deals and investments as opposed to insurance of small vehicles and sticker driven insurance business

  46. The globalisation of the insurance market is diluting London’s position as the leading insurance centre in the world, according to a new report.13 Nov 2014

Insurance Financial Services Insurance and wealth management UK Europe

Industry lobbyists the London Market Group (LMG) and consultancy body the Boston Consulting Group (BCG) said that “London’s position as the pre-eminent centre” was being undermined by the emergence of other insurance market hubs around the world, including Bermuda, Singapore and Zurich.

Other evidence such as “the declining share of global premium that brokers bring to London” and “the growth of alternative capital challenging the dominance of traditional London capital” also highlight the squeeze on London’s global insurance market position.

  47. According to the report, London’s insurance market contributed £12 billion to UK GDP in 2013. The total gross written premium stemming from the London market in 2013 was £60bn, compared with £25bn in Bermuda, £19bn in Zurich and £4bn in Singapore.

London faces a number of challenges, including the increasing localisation of the provision of insurance, the fact it “does not have a strong position in emerging markets”, the “high regulatory burden” companies in the London insurance market face and the fact its prices are generally higher than can be found in other insurance hubs, the report said.

  48. Stop cheating People about HH bring will bring prestigious Lloyd or even Aviva in this small shared insurance sector

If that is the case it is welcome but looking at the audience attended its certainly not Lloyd or Aviva but some micro like demand insurance in mass media

Never cheat people and say the least Its better said than done to see

  49. What great speech? Telling people not to invest in your country because you were not elected president? This will definitely cost him an election.
