The opposition MMD has observed that the media in Zambia is contributing to divisions in the country.MMD Spokesman Raphael Nakacinda said the media is now so polarized and dividing the nation.

Mr Nakacinda explained that all the four daily newspapers have decided to align themselves politically and sidelined the truth. He was speaking on Joy FM Radio’s Platform programme this morning which was discussing the 50 years of Zambian media.

Mr Nakacinda said the people are yearning for the Post Newspapers of the Old days which stood for the truth. He appealed to all media institutions to restore professionalism in Journalism.

‘Let’s engage in pubic matters with conviction, with all our hearts such that after you have done your race, you can pride yourself,’ Mr Nakacinda said.

‘It is now sad that the Daily Nation which people thought could stand for them has a soft spot for the PF, the Post Newspaper is now Rainbow, the Daily Mail and Times have traditionally been pro-establishment and that has continued,’ he said.

He continued, ‘in the online media, it is only Lusaka Times that is neutral and hopeful they will remain neutral.’

  1. in addition to the polarized newspapers you turn-cats poloooticians are causing so much confusions to us. Just listening to You, Mpompo, Kambwili, Frank Bwalya, Kaingu, Nevers, Hapunda, Mulongoti……… makes me wonder if you are proud parents/husbands when you go home and your children say “abesu”.

    • Ba Lusaka Times are sure Nakachinda said” Lets engage in PUBIC matters with conviction”. I wonder what he meant by engaging in PUBIC matters. Please help me understand.

  2. ?careless whisper,
Awe wansekesha, Ala kuti wapapa. Nga niba Mulongoti his sentences are rusty monga umulongoti. But for Fr.Bwalya…. mmmm…the man is a childless father…no matata. As for Kaingu and Nevers it’s all nevers and more for a living. Political piece workers. Nimatata maningi…Eish
    You made my day

  3. He is so right – i have stopped reading both the Daily Nation and the Post Newspapers because they seem to have a person fight that they are bringing to the public. The post has its alies the same people ( mulongoti, Fr. Luonde, YALI president etc whose job is to malign govt) on the other hand the Daily Nation has its own (Changala, etc) to simply oppose anything the post says and support Lungu.

Instead of being news it has become personal vendatta stuff in our newspapers and they are indeed poisoning our mental and cultural environment. For sanity’s sake, i have stopped buying the Daily Nation and the Post Newspapers.

  4. Daily Nation used to be anti-PF until Lungu took over. Obviously Sakala the owner is tribalistic thats why he has changed tune. I suspect Rupiah Banda’s ruling from the background has made many Easterners very happy.
The Post is another confused paper. It only follows Fred Mmembe’s confusion to wherever he leads it to for his own interests. The Daily Mail and Times are always ruling party lapdogs since 1972 when Kaunda Zambianised everything

  5. Instead, “for sanity’s sake” you are now baying Daily Mail and Times?

Or is it that you want to be seen baying PF media in order to preserve your job?

By the way, what you mean by “personal vendatta”? Next time try to use spell check. You do not need party permission and there is no chance of “personal vendetta” by MS.

As to yours personal mental and cultural environment, can you please clarify which culture you are referring to? Corruption? Embezzlement? Incompetence? Thuggery? Theft of State resources?

  6. Quiet correct couldn’t agree more even though he is a politician. Include on this list the useless ZNBC which I never watch. If I want objective news on Zambia, well they are almost objective, I tune to the BBC can you imagine.

  7. If Post is for Rainbow, and Daily Nation for PF. Which Newspaper is for UPND?Maybe Online? Watchdog for UPND? Zambia Eye for UPND? But who reads online Newspapers anyway? UPND needs to do better in this area.
