Mighty star prospect Silwaba gets Zambia call-up

Share

Mighty Mufulira Wanderers playmaker and free-kick specialist Lameck Silwaba has been handed a debut call-up by Honour Janza for Zambia’s May 10 friendly against Malawi.

Silwaba has been Wanderers standout player so far since their return to the FAZ Super League this season after a ten year hiatus.

There is also a shock call-up for Power Dynamos second choice goalkeeper and ex-Under-17 goalminder Joel Kanyeba who has been standing in for Joshua Titima due to a family bereavement.

However, there is no place for Konkola Blades striker Happy Kaunda who has enjoyed an eye-catching start to the season for the unbeaten Chililabombwe side.

Instead Nakambala Leopards striker Webster Mulenga has beaten him to the post.

On the foreign-based front, Janza has called up Nathan Sinkala who is back in training after a long-term injury he sustained last January at the Africa Cup.

Sinkala is one of four TP Mazembe players in the team alongside the usual suspects defender Kabaso Chongo, Given Singuluma and Zambia captain Rainford Kalaba.

It will be interesting to see whether the quartet will be released as the match does not fall on a FIFA date despite Mazembe’s final CAF Champions League engagement coming up this weekend at home against Stade Malien whom they are tied at 2-2 in a pre-group stage tie.

Meanwhile, Zambia go into camp this Sunday, May 10 ahead of the match to be played at Nkoloma Stadium.

Goalkeepers:Danny Manyau (Red Arrows), Jacob Banda(Zesco), Joel Kanyemba(Power Dynamos)

Defenders: Christopher Munthali(Power Dynamos), Bronson Chama(Red Arrows), Donashano Malama(Nkana), Andrew Kwiliko, Fackson Kapumbu (both Zanaco), Kabaso Chongo (TP Mazembe, DR Congo), Aaron Katebe (FC Platinum, Zimbabwe)

    • Good selection.
We need to see pictures of those new call-ups, hope they are taller than usual tiny players.
      – No Bruce Musakanya
      – No Mudenda
      – No Situmbeko,
Abaiche ba bola but has been a disappointment, they can’t even make it to Israel.

  1. Problem is calling professionals who are bench warmers at their clubs. Please concentrate on local players who are participating in the local league.

  2. Please Honor Janza call up Happy Kaunda from Konkola Blades!!the guy is very good than most of your call ups!!if you have ears please call up this guy!!!

  3. People let’s boycott this game to show FAZ we aren’t happy with the coach and the weak opponents namely Malawi
