  1. It’s about time you did something meaningful and practical not bu engineer bwa nembo…. You can’t even design later on make machines to your name.

    Stand up and be counted

  2. Our Engineers cant even use local construction firms which some of its big people in EIZ own. Reason- No confidence in their work. They would rather use Chinese.

    • Am disappointed coz I thought they would do the construction themselves. How can they contract the Chinese why can’t they build themselves. Baliisula or what

  3. DON’T WORRY THIS IS ZAMBIA MY GUYS.

50 YEARS ON WE CAN NOT FIND GOOD ENGLISH TO EVEN WRITE

    OUR CONSTITUTION.

  4. Don’t worry, our builders who are from China we have no builders in Zambia. Anyway, it is high time you started doing something. I will support you. But the 500 seat auditorium is just too small in this day and age. nevertheless, thumbs up.

  5. ….dream on…another toothless and useless institution ……it sounds like my uncle in the village ‘pondering’ on building an Arcades like complex with proceedings from his charcoal burning venture….

    • Losty, its u who can make it alive and not people from Europe America or China. They have made theirs alive

  6. While you’re at it, support Zambian engineers. Address the issue companies using technicians, electricians etc in engineering positions. There’s a difference.

  7. It is a shame that engineers in Zambia can’t even build their own house, they have to outsource from China.

  8. An institution of thieves. Instead of regulating labour imports by mining companies, they are getting subscriptions even from so called expatriates with fake qualifications on the expence of zambians who have no jobs. Plse assit gov’t by screening expatriates in engineering before they are given work permits

  9. In theory they are qualified engineers but in practice they are nothing to write home about. University of Zambia has produced hundreds of engineers but the country is not feeling their impact. The best description that fits these so called engineers is “engineering technicians”. They should turn a new leaf in the way they operate otherwise they will always be overlooked by their own country.

  10. This is the problem with our education. It teaches us to be elitist. Most of our local engineers have never held a “pencil” since graduation. This attitude is found across all proffessions. Take the same fellows to countries where they are required to prove their titles & they become performers.

  11. Let us have our own do the job, than foreigners do the job. That will be called Zambian pride let it be iconic . I like progressive thoughts shame those who insult you day and night

  12. Our Engineers are not taking their place in our country. People let us be honest. How will an office park presented here model the engineering profession in Zambia. EIZ must be talking about a novel plant designed by Zambian engineers which shall convert primary raw inputs into finished products. Our Engineers have remained maintenance engineers for a long time. As far as things are concerned, this economy in its current state can be run by artisans. It is painful to hear that the EIZ says a Chinese firm (hope they will use Zambian Engineers) will do the construction. Is this a vote of no confidence in their members? Wake up EIZ and contribute to the development of the country as you were prodded a while ago. I really hope the design is the product of a Zambian engineer!

  13. How viable is this project? And worst still…for “Maintenance Engineers” via Prof Clive Chilwa…..Let’s hope it DOESNT become just a white elephant….and l conquer that EIZ is just on paper as is the case with other professional institutions such as ZIA, SIZ, LAZ….all useless for lack of a better term!

  14. In the USA and other developed nations, such institutions are lobbyist for member firms and individuals. In this case they would have been doing everything possible to make sure the member firms are awarded the contracts for the projects. I wonder if EIZ has some scholarship funds for member students!! Or even industrial attachment/internship programs. It’s time these institutions realized it’s their duty to open up opportunities for members by lobbying government and industry. Pardon me for assuming they are just a club for engineers.
