Kitwe-based Rugby giants Diggers are in mourning following the death of their long-serving coach Robertson ‘Plough’ Kangonmgwe.
The 55-year-old who was also Zambia national rugby team coach passed away on Friday evening after an illness at Wusakile Hospital in Kitwe.
Kangongwe led Diggers to a clean sweep of honours in 2012 in which they won their first league title after a four year hiatus.
Diggers chairman Chileshe Bweupe confirmed the veteran coach’s death describing his passing as a loss of a pillar at the club.
Burial arrangements will be announced later.
‘Plough’ is survived by a wife and six children.

My deepest condolences to the family. I knew him as one of the smallest props – but as tough as nails. Anyone know where funeral is being held?
60 Geddes Street Nkana East near Matete School. I remember the gentleman from way back in the early to mid 90’s when I attached to the Nkana Cobalt Plant as a vacation student. MHSRIP.
