FORMER United Party for National Development (UPND) vice-president Richard Kapita says President Lungu deserves a full term of office for his inclusive and visionary leadership.

Mr Kapita, who recently joined to the Patriotic Front (PF), said in Kitwe on Friday that President Lungu has demonstrated good leadership since assuming office and that he is the right man to steer the country to greater heights.

He said it is imperative that all Zambians rally behind Mr Lungu to enable him to continue implementing the pro-poor PF policies.

He said this is not the time to experiment with leadership as the country is in safe hands under Mr Lungu’s reign.

Mr Kapita was part of President Lungu’s entourage that was in Kitwe on Friday for the official opening of the 58th Copperbelt Mining, Agricultural and Commercial Show.
“Zambians must come together and support President Lungu in his efforts to unite the country and improve the welfare of the Zambian people.

“He is a man with a great vision for this country that is why I decided to leave UPND to join the PF,” Mr Kapita said.

He urged the people of the Copperbelt to continue supporting the PF ahead of the 2016 tripartite elections.

“I am happy to be here. I am grateful to His Excellency President Lungu for inviting me to accompany him to this show. We need to maximise production by encouraging people to venture into production and manufacturing.

“We need to go into business that will add value to our economy,” Mr Kapita said.

He said it was unacceptable for a country that has so many natural resources to have its people wallowing in poverty

And The United Party for National Development (UPND) has said that it is not in a hurry to replace its former vice president Richard Kapita who defected to the ruling PF recently.

UPND Deputy Secretary General Kuchunga Simusamba said that the party has moved on and is in no hurry to replace Mr. Kapita.

He said that with time the party national management committee will meet and advise on the way forward with regards the vacant position of vice president for administration.

Mr. Simusamba said that the UPND is growing everyday and that the defection of one person has no impact in the smooth running of the political business of the party.

    • Kapita’s comments confirm what Pilato is singing about in “A Lungu anabwela”. The PF of Sata is gone, rejects from MMD and UPND are the ones running govt

    • Ba Obatala naimwe
Sata was an illiterate who never even read your stupid constitution and nominated 10 MPs instead of 8.He is the most incompetent president and does not deserve any place in this country’s history.

    • That Lungu anabwela sounds exciting.
explain more of that Pilato observations. Why does Kapita want Zambians to accept Lungu even if he is useless? Even Kapita himself will make a better president than drunken Lungu.

    • SO MR KAPITA WOULD ONLY BE WISE IF AND ONLY IF HE WAS IN UPND? I THOT UPND WAS A POLITICAL PARTY AND NOT A SCHOOL THAT IF U DROP U BE DEEMED UNEDUCATED..

    • Obatala, that’s what you think but if you ask people on the ground, in the village they tell u a different story. Or is it that you just choose to be blind. Anyway history is there that MCS did in 3 yrs what Levy or RB etc could not do in ten yrs and a lot of Zambians say so and that’s what matters not yu Obatala

    • Kapita njala yumunyopola so much that he has lost his vision and rightfully so he has joined the visionless you know who.

  1. Does he have to say these things to be relevant? He is sounding like uneducated cadre. If he wants to make an impact he should come up with ideas that can help his newly acquired party gain ground in NW province instead of shouting empty praises like a job seeking cadre.Really pathetic.

    • A hungry turncoat can say anything, even senseless things because of hunger. Kapita should visit the Zambian Watchdog and see the pictures of the condition of Twatasha basic School in Chawama for him to know that the praises that he is heaping on his new messiah are misdirected. Kapita is a hungry politician who is not popular even in his home district of Mwinilunga so forget about him influencing anything in NW province. People there have already seen through him.

  2. It is even hard to read what Kapita is saying because we know him as an unprincipled fellow. When people are stricken by poverty they are dangerous and can do anything to survive. Imagine people like Kapita making such moves, he does not even live in Chibolya, Kanyama or Kalingalinga, what more those people in real abject poverty! It is a pity for such people to simply forget about what they stood for just to put bread on the table. We have a bunch of such politicians in the country who are only concerned about their well-being and do not care the majority. We shall always lag behind for as long such men live amongst us unfortunately.

    • A few months ago this chap was saying lungu shouldn’t be voted into people cos he has no vision n today cos he has been promised a job he’s now saying lungu has a vision . ifyabupa fye kwati techi kulu.proper politics of the belly in broad day light.this man is a disgrace to his family n the country at large.i think we don’t need such politicians whether in opposition or government.

    • The other side of the coin is that it may be you that is not seeing things correctly. It could be that Mr. Kapita is so wise that he has seen sense in the leadership of HE ECL and you who is confused can not see what he has seen!!!!!

  3. Reversing your mind to January 2015 and listening to Kapita’s new tune, you can easily realise that politics in Africa entails circumstances where bread is well-buttered and nothing else. Its really comical and laughable to be precise.

  4. Pathetic! Lungu himself says he has no vision ( but following Sata’s vision) but Kapita , to appear relevant, says Lungu has a great vision!!

  5. LT please give media space to people with serious issues to contribute to the nation & not guys carrying big empty bellies. They are a danger to society & democracy because they don’t think.

  6. If Lungu was a visionary as the shameless job seeking sycophant is saying he could have demonstrated this genius quality by at least depopulating the excessive ministers and their deputies. Instead he has carried on where the thug left off, hiring and firing, non-stop by-electioneering, swearing in useless officials, hobnobbing with vicious regional dictators. At least evacuations to South Africa’s hospitals for minor ailments at tax payer expense has stopped but we have to thank the savage Zulu chief and Zuma for this, not Lungu. Lungu has said it publicly that he doesn’t a vision of his own, now who is this punk trying to hoodwink?

  7. There’s a “Belly Politician” at work, talking through the wrong orifice!!
If anyone needs to write an academic essay on the Belly Politician, this selfish being is the best example.

  8. Very hilarious comments by this opportunist Kapita.

Quote ” president Lungu deserves a full term for his visionary leadership” and also “he is am man with a great vision for this country” ke ke ke ke ke ke ke ke ke ke ke ke ke ke…..

Very funny given that Lungu himself said he has no idea what to do except to imitate Micheal Sata.

  9. Copper-belt AIDS Task Force chairperson Chikafuna Banda says, 1,000 people in Kitwe test HIV-positive every month. Copperbelt AIDS coordination advisor Violet Mongeza also says the province has the highest HIV prevalence rate in the country at 18 per cent. “In Kitwe every month, we have 8,000 people that are tested for HIV. Out of this number, 1,000 test positive. These are true statistics for Kitwe only and it’s real. There is something that we are NOT doing right.” Dr Banda said concerted efforts were needed for Kitwe to have zero new HIV infections. “Kitwe city is positive that HIV prevalence rate will be lowered further towards ‘zero new HIV infections’ with commitment.

  10. THEY SAY POLITICS IS ABOUT NUMBERS. THE TRUTH IS KAPITA DECIDED AND REALIZED THAT HANGING AROUND WITH UPND WOULD NEVER SEE HIM GET ON THE PRESIDENTIAL HELICOPTER. HH WILL NEVER BE PRESIDENT. FRANKLY MR LUNGU IS A BREATH OF FRESH AIR. THE TENSION THAT MR SATA CREATED IN THE COUNTRY IS GONE. LUNGU IS ALWAYS SMILING. LETS GIVE HIM A CHANCE.

HH NOW KNOWS HOW PAINFUL IT FEELS TO HAVE MEMBERS POACHED. HE WAS GLOATING WHEN CANISIUS BANDA , NALUMANGO MUTALE, MUTATI DEFECTED TO HIM. LET HIM ENJOY THE TASTE OF HIS OWN MEDICINE. HH IFINTU KU SHIPA. FOR SURE THE KAPITA DEFECTION WAS THE MOST PAINFUL AND THE BIGGEST BLOW TO UPND. AND THEY WILL NEVER RISE AGAIN. PF HAS STOLEM NORTHWESTERN AND NOW IT IS BACK TO BEING A PROVINCIAL PARTY.

  11. UPND is in trouble. No one at the moment to fit in Mr Kapita’s big shoes…..he has left a big vacuum and Northwestern province is gone to PF.If i was HH,i was going to disband this small tribal party and say bye bye to politics.

    • At least UPND know that making appointments on a daily bases is not what makes the party popular. They have continued doing the most important thing – selling their party to the masses. It is good that they have realized that this is a destruction and have treated it as such.

    • Rather hand it over to a more deserving leader, and correct the tribal tag by bringing in either a non-tonga or a non-tribal and universally accepted tonga like Andy Mazoka, if one can be found.

  12. Kapita himself does not believe in what he is saying. We all know he is doing that in order to put food on the table. But since everybody knows the truth, he is just lying to himself.

ECL is and will not achieve anything by this rejected thief, the sooner he realizes that the better for him. Zambians need principled leaders and not those practicing politics of the belly and shameless thieves.

truth be told, Lungu is destroying the little trust people might have had in him by surrounding himself with people of questionable characters. Kapita does not bring anything to the ECL table because he is a complete disgraced political reject.

  13. It is you the so called Chiti who should have lost your mind.Do you really believe that UP and DOWN can form govt one day with that tribal voting pattern we saw last January ? Not even the Rain ball in Wynter will make it.Lungu is the man for the majority of Zambians…so stop day dreaming.Kapita made a wise decision.

    • My dear Joseph, if you read what I have said again, you will understand what I am saying and it is true. I am just being honest, Kapita is just a hungry man looking for food, he will go with anybody who gives him what he needs. Like a prostitute, he does not believe in what he is doing but that is the only viable platform for his lively hood. That is all I am saying.

  14. Sory,i know the man Kapita is focused and did a lot of work in UPND with Mazoka. He has read the political situation correctly and you will agree with me in 2016…..just watch the space.UPND has already lost NWP and Western province. How is HH going to make it….with which magic. His last chance was last January……now UPND is history.

  15. U know what,i like being objective!!when you look at our local media, you easily conclude that they all have political parties they support.e.g:The Post is pro Rainbow,ZWD and Muvi TV is pro-UPND,Zambia Daily, times of Zambia,ZNBC,Zambia Report,Tumfweko,Lusaka times,Daily Nations etc:are Pro-PF!!THEN ITS A FACT THAT ALL PF STRONGS ARE INTACT JUST LIKE UPND IS STILL STRONG IN SOUTHERN BUT WITH ECL’s GOOD WORKS IN WESTERN AND N/WESTERN PROVINCES,PF WILL GET MORE VOTES FROM THERE IN 2016 MAKING IT TOO HARD FOR HH TO BE CLOSER TO STATE HOUSE!!!so its very easy for one to conclude that PF will retain power in 2016 so Richard Kapita made a right political move and he is in money now.

  16. Kapita could be from N/Western province but UPND will remain very strong in N/W province because he has just joined PF for a job this poverty politicking.

  17. Yes Mr Kapita, that is exactly what we gonna do, and keep HH waiting for his turn in 2025, right?

  18. When the words backward, ignorance, uncivilised are used to describe a certain group of people, the same people jump up and start shooting from the hip. This kind of politics can only happen in one continent of the world. Former presidents dump the political organisations they formed just to be close to state house, in which they occupied and kicked out by people because they did not perform. Its really a shame what is happening in this continent. May be in this continent democracy is misunderstood to meaning belonging to the ruling elite.

  19. Country me, let us stop discussing Kapita as he is a nonentity on Zambian politics. The new found love affair with the PF will be shocked to learn that Kapita can never organise either an indoor meeting or rally for PF anywhere in Zambia. Ask the pipo of NW in Mwinilunga how they ejected him after serving only one term as MP in 2001. He is the only surviving former UPND leader without a constituency as senior member while all his peers are either serving their 2nd or 3rd term in parliament. How then could the whole lot of the VP of the largest opposition party fail to be a adopted as representative of his own pipo? He has always been living in the shadows of the late Mr. Mazoka and HH at the expense of the party. Let him go and help build the PF that is so desperate for members.

  20. Mr. Kapita, can you PLEASE make concentrated effort to sound educated.
Please read Constitution before even considering such 1diotic statement.
By any chance, are you competing against Sunday Chanda and Hon. Kambwili for the “1mbecile of the year” award?

  21. Country men, let us stop discussing Kapita as he is a nonentity on Zambian politics. The new found love affair with the PF will shock many to learn that Kapita can never organise either an indoor meeting or rally for PF anywhere in Zambia. Ask the pipo of NW in Mwinilunga how they ejected him after serving only one term as MP in 2001. 22. I feel so sorry for this man, does he have to sink this low to be accepted by PF. This man is educated from what I understand, but now he sounds more like an uneducated cadre, what’s wrong with our men please? Shame on him.
