Lwandamina defends Zesco after Nkwazi loss

Zesco United coach George Lwandamina refused to blame his players after they were beaten 2-1 by Nkwazi in a midweek delayed game at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.

This was Zesco’s first league defeat in the 2015 FAZ Super Division campaign.

In a post-match interview, Lwandamina said Zesco tried their best despite ending on the losing side.

“It wasn’t just our day as we did everything possible but when it’s not your day you can lose like that,” Lwandamina said at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium.

The Ndola club wasted several scoring opportunities in this game.

“It’s not all the chances you create that you can put away (score). It is not that my players wanted to be fancy,” Lwandamina said.

The result left Zesco without a home win over Nkwazi since the 2010 season after suffering their third straight loss in Ndola to the Police side.

He emphasised that Zesco were still in the race to defend the league title.

“I am sure this loss does not entail that we have failed to win the league. This is just one of the set backs.

“Even in the time of Abraham, he gave birth when he was in an advanced stage. So a delay some times will be work of God for you to move in the right direction.Amen!” Lwandamina concluded.
