The opposition UPND has defended controversial musician Pilato who is expected to be questioned by police this morning after releasing a song mocking President Edgar Lungu.
UPND Chairman for Legal Affairs Jack Mwimbu said the state is harassing an innocent person by summoning Pilato to the police for questioning.
Mr Mwimbu also revealed that the UPND will provide legal assistance to the Copperbelt musician as he faces the police today.
Pilato has not defamed anybody. That song he released was all satire and everybody is entitled to an opinion,’ Mr Mwimbu said.
He added, ‘Unless the PF don’t understand what satire is, they should seek guidance of those who are knowledgeable. He has not defamed anyone as far as we concerned.’
PF ni ba chimbwi chabe, they dont like to be told the truth.

The Law Association of Zambia, a professional body representing lawyers say Pilato did not defame anyone. Just like Twice in Tomato bland did not defame anyone…Mad president by Maiko Zulu is another example. and yesterday police made mockery of themselves going to search for Pilato at Muvi studios in 7 armored vehicles at 19:30hrs. Interview had been recorded earlier. In fact BBC have also done an interview of Pilato and the stupidity of PF will be laid bare for the whole world to see

The fact that pilato says Lungu sold the party is enough evidence for defaming the President. Let pilato produce evidence that the President sold the party and at what price.

Mocking the Head of state and mentioning his name in a song is not satire but defamation of character. Whether you hate President Lungu he should be accorded the respect of being the Head of state and insulting him day and night will not help UPND win votes. They’re quick to silence the truth. My question to Lungu is why did he not arrest Mulenga Sata and his buffoon friends for government money spent on buying homes in South Africa? This is broad daylight robbery. PF should be lucky the song did not contain insults and F-words. I’m sure the police have better things to do like arresting PF ministers for stealing government funding. That money stashed away in Hong-Kong banks, why not get it back and arrest Zambians involved. This is what they police is for and not going about looking for a song writer because he wrote about the truth and that the economy is hurting and Zambians are in real trouble because of the leadership involved at the present time.
