Edgar Lungu and Globe Trotting

President Lungu has become the latest global trotter after his close friend Rupiah Banda. President Lungu is fully aware that flying around and opening shoping malls attract huge travelling allowances. People should know that the trips that Edgar lungu seems to enjoy consume a huge amount of tax payer’s money, all at the expense national development.

It seems the current president is not bothered about the suffering of the majority of Zambians are enduring. The few Kwachas that could be saved by him not globe trotting and delegating mayors to be officiating the opening of shops will go a long way to help mother Zambia.

People are wondering whether president has nothing to do in his office. Others are saying that he is running away from hot issues in the country.

Serious Issues like

  • impasses at public universities and colleges
  • loadsheding
  • huge debts,
  • TAZARA workers strike,
  • revamping of Mulungushi textiles,
  • restoration of Rupiah Banda’s immunity,
  • Chama’s tribal remarks,
  • youth unemployment,
  • the cost of maintaining Richard Kapita and many more.

There is no doubt that what has been outlined above is giving President Lungu sleepless nights.

The problems theses public universities have been experiencing now is as a result of having a government that lacks vision for the youth and entire country.

The Government would rather spend money on

  • buying cadres,
  • minister’s luxurious lifestyles,
  • the president flying around the globe,
  • bye-elections,
  • visiting Morningside clinic just for a headache

all at the expense of fixing problems at the universities.

These problems experienced at these universities do not bother Government VIPs as their children learn abroad using tax payer’s money while a poor Zambian is struggling just to get a decent education.

[pullquote]fellow students let us register as voters in mass and kick out this visionless Government[/pullquote]
It is sad to see how our youth who are eager to learn end up been packed in their hotels without learning for a month now and Government does not seem to care. Up to now no comprehensive report has been issued by the Government. The CBU calendar has been badly affected and PF Government should be ready for the results for their actions.

I want to tell my fellow countrymen and women that this Government do not care about our suffering hence it does not deserver to be in power beyond 2016. Please fellow students
let us register as voters in mass and kick out this visionless Government to show them that we are the tools for change not jokers.

  1. The problem is not really that he globe trots. It’s the amount of money spent during these visits.

One would think they are royalty with their entourage and extravagance.

    • The PF government under the leadership of the Free Man of Blantyre aka Jamasoni Lungu should be frugal in its spending. The same way the ordinary poor Zambians tighten their belts, adjust their budgets and live within their means, the same should apply to the poor PF government. This is a government with no money but they live beyond their means as evidenced by their lavish poorly prioritized spending.

Lungu – Focus on actual work, address Zambia’s immediate problems i.e. Load shedding, unemployment, poverty, exchange rate, and lead by example in your spending.

    • When Edgar Lungu said he had no vision, he meant just that. We are now witnessing the worst economic crisis this country has ever seen since UNIP days

    • After Lungu self confessed that he is visionless, he meant just like that, VISIONLESS indeed!

In 5 months Lungu has been almost 10 countries & what time does he work? Also visionless Lungu was invincible for 1 month, as he was at a South African hospice, 2 different fortnights after collapsing at heroes stadium. Ever since, Lungu is Kwamwendo Munjila, always moving b’coz the entire PF is visionless.

BANDIT Davies Chama is bringing anarchy everywhere in the country, shooting citizens with guns, attempting murder, Lungu et al PF cadres & police have been MUTE on this psychopath of one Chama. Shame!

Lungu & PF, the ECONOMY & KWACHA in LIMBO, CBU closed, load shedding is ceaseless, commodities are beyond reach for majority poor Zambians suffering poverty!

    • DID YOU EVER THINK ZAMBIA WAS NOW HAVING AN ACTION ORIENTED AND ENTERPRISING PRESIDENT IN THE NAME OF EDGAR LUNGU? DIDN’T YOU KNOW THAT LUNGU WAS AS OUT-DATED AS THE 91 YEAR OLD MUGABE OF ZIMBABWE EVEN THOUGH HE IS UNDER 60 YEARS OLD? LUNGU IS NEVER AT STATE HOUSE TO SERVE THE ZAMBIAN PEOPLE, RATHER LUNGU IS AT STATE HOUSE TO STEAL FROM US, EVEN THOUGH HE IS FULLY AWARE OUR ECONOMY IS LIMPING. LUNGU HAS TOLD HIMSELF TO MAKE A LOT OF MONEY THROUGH THESE ALLOWANCES FROM TRAVEL. THAT IS HIS SMART WAY OF STEALING FROM THE POOR NATION. KICK HIM OUT NEXT YEAR!

  2. FOOLISH PEOPLE WILL SUPPORT PF EVEN WHEN THERE CHILDREN ARE SUFFERING. IT IS REALLY WORRYING TO SEE HOW OUR COUNTRY IS GOING DOWN YET OTHERS ARE BUSY INSULTING OTHER TRIBES AND SUPPORT VISIONLESS LEADER. EVEN LUSAKA TIMES DOES NOT REPORT PROFESSIONALLY ITS BIAS TOWARDS PF

  3. Millions were told that he had know vision and millions still voted . The level of education is really low in Zambia . Lawless , useless , selfish , corrupt and dull leaders . Keep on borrowing loans and how will the country pay back ? Generation coming will suffer because the country will be more in debit.

  4. Load shedding caused by cheap turbines from china and that’s corruption . International airport funds went missing . CBU is closed so know exams this year , 50 years making one road which is great east road . Only thing PF is good at is opening malls and 99% of the products come from South Africa . What’s next for Zambia ?

    • This Permalink seems to run the show on lusaka times.Anything on Edgar Lungu he responds by saying bad things.I think you need to stop promoting hate replies on a sitting president.

  5. Guys, I have just returned from a rural area. There is hunger. The rural dwellers efforts were affected by late delivery of inputs and erratic rainfall. I thought the President could have had a press conference highlighting his plans, than going to neighbouring countries to do nothing

  6. Could we pass a law that prohibits our President from opening shops. There are a lot of challenges in the country and a man is seen opening stores, bye the way I am PF

  7. You can go to hell…… zonda uzalema….. HE is working hard to restore diplomacy for Zambia…. you are the same chaps who condemned Sata for not inviting Heads of states to Visit Zambia

    • Slavery of the mind will never end. Slaves condition their minds to accept the situation and move on. Load shedding – slaves complain for a week and then get used to it, unemployment- slaves complain for a week and then get used to it, weak kwacha – slaves complain for a week and then get used to it, unnecessary university closures – slaves complain for a week and then get used to it, high cost of living – slaves complain for a week and then get used to it, high country debt and it’s consequences – slaves complain for a week and then get used to it, corruption, ACC Selectiveness, PF indiscipline ….the list is endless.

This is slavery of the mind.

until people begin to accept and resist the way the country is being run, we will forever be a poor enslaved country

    • Alinaswe I don’t think too many of us would complain too much if, in between his trips, Lungu demonstrated some level of determination to deal with the many crises facing this nation. His minister of Finance has come out in the open to say he has run into multimillion dollar deficit even before he’s gone half way into the current budget. Shouldn’t we be seeing the president providing leadership in resolving this crisis? Couldn’t he, for instance, start to trim down his bloated cabinet and eliminate some irrelevant political posts like the office of the DC, drop some deputy ministers in departments where there are more than one? Couldn’t he suspend unnecessary travel and seminars /workshops by civil servants, as did his predecessor MS? We could save quite a bit in these areas but…

  8. Just take a glance over the above comments except for a few including ALINASWE…
They are all exclusively upnd online cadres… To make a genuine difference, you all need to go and actually vote, and maybe with your support your party will form government in 20…
    Kayamayo!!

    • With pro PF comments like these… I can only conclude that the heat is not yet on! Tachilakalipa … faka pressure. Zed needs to test real suffering and real poverty for them to learn how to choose leaders with vision. It is very difficult to have sympathy for Zed since this is what they keep voting for and it is likely that they will vote ‘PamaFi’ again in 2016 🙁 Cry the beloved country has gone to the dogs!

  9. Oh No! PF is failing (falling)(drowning)! A Lungu balepela, sibazakwanisa! Ba minister bonse basoba palibe chamene bachita, Zambia is sinking and sinking! People are busy stealing and stealing! Serious mansions and are being raised in Lusaka! Brande new Jeeps and Jeeps are being driven on Lusaka roads! And nobody bothers and cares to find out where people are getting the wealth, and Government is getting broke and broke as more and more people continue stealing! PF has failed (fallen)(drowned).

HH, listen to me! Merge all the opposition parties in Zam ia to form one strong party and that will be the only way to remove PF and move Zambia forward, faster faster. Beyond this, I don’t see Zambia in one piece.

    • Walasa iwe. HH’s single task now should be to bring Nawakwi, Milupi and other progressive opposition party leaders to UPND. Milupi is a good leader but for the sake of balancing, let Nawakwi be the VP of UPND. Then start campaigning very seriously right now; 2016 is not far away.
We are sick and tired of these PF mafias

    • why do u think HH is the messiah. the messiah has already come and u want to crusify him. the problem u cant get the message. The gospel says he is going to come from the east……….. keep on waiting and the ship will be full.

  10. The some pipo who condemed sata for not visiting new there are crying that the president is travelling are you sure by sitting in one place is what you call Woking . To me you are jurst heters who do not knew what you whant

  11. Problem with jemarson Lungu is the reintroduction of REJECTS like RB and DOLA.. RB was kamwendo munjila untill ka kolwe kamutundila…

  12. If only the government sets it’s prorities right, Zambia can be a force to reckon on. Failure to prioritise and to fight corruption are two factors that brings a nation down to it’s knees. Its only true and visionary leadership that can curb this menace.

  13. But how is investment going to come in the country if the head of state is just sitted at state house? This president is doing very well he must be commended. He is hardworking president.EL ni best.

  14. Willie is absolutely spot on…Edgar is a lazy man end of story..you can take a donkey to a pond BUT you can’t force it to drink.

  15. For those saying people complained when Sata wasn’t traveling. Leadership is suppose to be responsive. Our current economic crisis requires EL to make tough decisions and reduce on spending. No point in having good relations with you neighbor when it’s at the expense of improving your own household.

  16. A state president must ‘globe trot’ to raise our country’s diminished profile on the global stage. It is important! Yes of course there is money spent on these trips. What would HH do differently????? The moment he is voted into office he will start the ‘blame game’ of pointing fingers his predecessor. Let us live the present.

    • As presido you don’t globe trot leaving massive problems at home, other leaders cancel the trips to fix issues urgent.

  17. Mr X, please wake up. Has your life improved with these endless trips. Also get some school because the topic is Lungu’trip and not the HH you are mentioning. Night school is still there. I am PF myself but will not support jokes

  18. Janet my sister, you are probably in the other faction of the party. Which of the trips so far EL has done do you think should have been delegated to his ministers? NO, my life has not improved and will not improve under a different leader. I don’t need ‘night school’ but my in-born intelligence to deduce what is happening. Zambia was marginalized under Sata, we need to read another ‘international relations’ path.

  19. You ka so called Willie LIMATA you must be a nut.EL is doing alot for this country. If it were you a shallow minded chap, what is it that you can achieve within this short period of time ? If an opposition party has given you money, just eat and keep quiet.

  20. EL has improved the country’s international reputation….Zambians learn to appreciate. In which ever province you are, surely when you look around, there is something you can see in terms of development.PF is working lets admit.

  21. Mr Presido ignore these haters of development. They are jealousy of you.Come 2016 EL and PF we shall vote for you.

  22. Ka Willie Limata if you have never used a plane and you are choked with jealousy, continue walking.Whatever the President is doing is in the best interest of this country.

  23. Mwansa, you have forgotten to include Rainbow’s Mr Kabimba on your list of opposition leaders to join HH in challenging PF in 2016: Milupi, Nawakwi, etc. Just a reminder that you need more than just these guys to dislodge PF.
But you are already defeated by suggesting that the other opposition leaders serve under HH as his Veep. I am very certain that none of them would want to serve under HH or enter an alliance with him, otherwise they would have done so already. That they have not should tell you something about what they really think about HH. In any case, how do they reconcile their different ideologies? Or their individual ambitions? Or other interests and differences that we are not privy to?

  24. A dunderhead like you enka can not understand international relations. You went to school just to learn how to look after goats and so its impossible for you to say thanks to what the President is doing for this country.

  25. The moment HH promised to lower electricity tariffs during by election campaigns early this year, it was clear that he had disqualified himself from commenting on load shedding solutions. As an economist he should know better, or maybe he doesn’t understand such basic issues of econmics?

  26. Surely you have a power crisis, an exchange rate crisis, a university crisis at home and you choose to go for independence parties in Mozambique and Malawi. The Predisent must sit down and work. I am also a die hard PF and I believe a spoon is not a spade

  27. Somebody goes to watch traditional dances across the border and somebody calls it international relations. The President should have even gone on site at Kariba dam for an on the spot check, you think when Obama goes to visit those areas hit by typhoons, he is joking.

  28. I can’t wait for 2016. Even MMD was winning bye elections before the Presidential elections but what happened. RB, a three year President, Edgar just one year in power and out, worry not ,its a record as well

  29. Very well written article; spot on! Indeed, Chama must go! There is no room for such divisive elements in society, let alone leadership positions. Down with Chama, down with this visionless and clueless Party of F00ls!

  30. Chama is a wise and frank leader and not these hypocritical leaders who do something in the night and yet during day time, they pretend to be peace makers. Its good you are exposed !

  31. WELL SAID MR ANALYSER, YOU ARE A MASSIVE CONTRIBUTOR TO LUSAKA TIMES, NOT THIS ILLITERATE LOUD FOR NOTHING COMMENTATOR CALLED ENKA, HE’S ONLY GOOD FOR CRITISING” DUNDERHEAD HIMSELF” I WONDER IF HE IS MENTALLY STABLE…………….SIES
