  1. The death and deformity caused by male circumcision in Africa can’t be ignored
    – Ally Fogg

Eastern Cape and Limpopo provinces alone at least 419 boys have died since 2008, and more than 456,000 initiates have been hospitalised with complications.

Deaths commonly occur through dehydration, blood loss, shock-induced heart failure or septicaemia. And there are estimated to be two total penile amputations for every death. Countless numbers of participants are left with permanent scarring or deformity. Urologists describe seeing patients whose penises have become so infected and gangrenous they literally drop off.

    • Its not about being a big loss to the party, It is a bigger loss to his family. How about sending condolence sand talking about to his family, before talking about your party HH?

      Thanks

    • There is nothing wrong with male circumcision. Granted, some boys have died mainly from botched circumcision carried out by unqualified people. A report released last week has found that in Limpopo and Eastern Cape some boys have died because of beatings or ill-treatment at the hands of the handlers.

Male circumcision is widely practiced in Africa with the exception of Zambia, Malawi, and Zambabwe. My Ethiopian neighbour’s son was circumcised a week after he was born. Nigerian colleagues also speak in a derogatory way about uncircumcised men.

To avoid the deaths boys should be taken to hospitals but most SA boys prefer the “real thing”.

    • As usual the correct state of affairs on this story is on the Zambian Watchdog. Mr.Chibwe is not dead, this sadly, is a PF concocted story done in very bad faith. There is no price for a human life. I wish Mr.Chibwe quick recovery

  2. From a global perspective, most of the world does not practise circumcision; over 80% of the world’s males are intact (not circumcised)

    • I agree with you. It is surprising that the western countries have targeted female circumcision by Africans but are completely happy with male genital mutilation because Jewish traditions dominate European culture.

    • In Africa and in the Middle East only 10% of males are uncircumcised. Majority of the 10% is made up of males in Zambia, Zimbabwe and Malawi.

  3. Too bad SG, gone soon, should have lived longer to see the dream of becoming a govt minister come true if at all it will…

  4. It is with great grief to learn of the passing away of Mr Chibwe the S/G of UPND.
This is not only a loss to his family, UNPD, friends and colleagues but a big loss to democracy in Zambia.
Mr Chibwe is one of those unsang heroes of the emerging democracy in Zambia.
Mr Chibwe will be remembered as a unifying factor in politics debunking the myth of much preached sectional politics by some political leaders in power.
Condolences to his family and MHSRP.

  5. Marabishi he is my neighbour I’m just from his house. Yes he is not feeling well but not what you guys are reporting. You wish him dead but why? Get well soon fellow Kachema.

  6. Yes Mr. Chibwe has been unwell for sometime. But he’s still alive at his farm house in Lusaka West. Don’t mislead people LT.

  7. wishing some one death is ungodly. Let us learn to respect other people’s life. Wish you quick recovery.

  8. Ba LT, I am sure you have by now released your failure to verify a story before publishing is very damaging to you as an organisation. No self respecting business will want to advertise on your website and pay you for it, because false stories like do not attract serious minded people to your site who can do business with them. As simple as that. The fact that we have lost two sitting Heads of Sate should not make us turn death into a casual matter. The solution for your ba LT to restore lost credibility is now to APOLOGISE unreservedly. We all make mistakes, but its how we rise from the mistakes that makes a difference.

    • and also to apologies to HH for falsely quoting him as a “confirmation” source.

Shame on you for reaching low limits of cadreism.

    • To the extent they claim to have verified the information with UPND party president means this is not a mistake by LT but an intended falsehold. The real question is why?
