Kalaba inspires Mazembe to crucial Champions League away win

Share

Rainford Kalaba inspired TP Mazembe to their first group stage victory in the 2015 CAF Champions League.

Kalaba scored the opening goal on Friday in the DR Congo giants 2-0 away win over Smouha of Egypt in Alexandria.

The Zambia captain was on target in the 40th minute before he was replaced by Cote d’Ivoire striker Roger Assale in the 72nd minute.

Nathan Sinkala was on the bench for Mazembe following his return to the club after one season in Europe while Given Singuluma did not make the final 18.

Mazembe rise to the top of Group A on 5 points after three rounds of games played although Al Hilal of Sudan could reclaim that spot on Sunday night with a home win over Moghreb Tetouan of Morocco.

Mazembe return to action on August 8 at home against Smouha.

  1. Thanks Kalaba. Keep it up. At least such news makes us temporarily forget that there is load shedding.

  2. Age & responsibility motivates a man. Just like Rooney, Rainford has been doing great from the time he became Zambia skipper. Big up Chipolopolo.

  3. Why very powerfull clubs are not buying him?Kalaba deserves to play his football in clubs like chelse ,arselna, man u,basalona, man city and others.

  4. The boy is good but not to a level of playing for bigger teams like man u and the like coz, 1 he lacks stamina, 2 he rarely scores for zambia not until he works on those apects can he attrabt bigger teams
