Wanderers plot revenge against Zesco United

Share

Mighty Mufulira Wanderers are targeting revenge as they host FAZ Super Division champions and league leaders Zesco United at Shinde Stadium on Saturday.

Zesco demolished Wanderers 4-1 in the first round match played at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium on April 12. Manfred Chabinga’s promoted Mighty remain unbeaten at home this term going into this Week 19 match in Mufulira.

“We are going for a revenge because Zesco beat us in Ndola,” Wanderers defender Warren Kunda said.

“I am only expecting victory. I think Zesco are beatable,” Kunda said. Zesco top the table with 40 points from 18 matches while fifth placed Mighty are on 29 points.

Elsewhere, struggling 12-time champions Nkana expects to continue on their recovery path when they host National Assembly in Wusakile.

Kalampa, who ended their two-month win-less run at Nkwazi last Sunday, must beat bottom placed Assembly to continue rising up the table.

Nkana’s Kitwe rivals Power Dynamos are visiting revived Napsa Stars on Sunday with the aim of bouncing back from last Sunday’s 1-0 home loss to Green Buffaloes.

Power are four points behind leaders Zesco.

Meanwhile, Nchanga Stadium is set to host the Konkola derby between Nchanga Rangers and Konkola Blades.

Konkola and Nchanga are placed 12th and 13th with 19 and 16 points respectively.
