Opposition Rainbow Party Leader, Wynter Kabimba says his party’s victory in the Kapililonga ward by-election in Isoka district of Muchinga province shows that the party is formidable and ready to compete with other political parties.

Mr Kabimba says he is happy that the party he formed barely seven ago has managed to scoop its first local government seat.

And Mr. Kabimba says he confident that his party’s political strategy is bearing fruit seven months after the Rainbow party was formed as evidenced by its victory in the Kapililonga ward election.

Mr Kabimba has told QFM News in a telephone interview that his party is geared for the 2016 tripartite elections.

And Rainbow Party Spokesperson Goodson Banda has told a media briefing that the party’s first attempt victory in the Kapililonga Ward by-election spells the beginning of the people’s time to start governing themselves.

He says people of Kapililonga triumphed by uniting to reclaim the local government seat by voting for their own candidate who stood on the Rainbow Party ticket.

Mr. Banda says the victory has therefore demonstrated that Rainbow Party is about the people and people represent themselves.

Meanwhile United Party for National Development (UPND)deputy spokesperson, Edwin Lifwekelo says the appointment of former Kasama Central MP Geoffrey Mwamba as UPND vice president has paid off as evidenced by the party’s victory in the Bululu ward by-election in Kasama central.

Mr. Lufwekelo says the UPND is headed for victory in the forthcoming general election in 2016 considering the rate at which it is growing.

  1. It is not about who wins where, but emancipation from the current economic mess brought about by pf. Opoosition must work together and liberate zambia. Rainbow party alone cannot win 2016. That win is somehow fluke.

  2. Dream on Kabimba and tribal HH!while u celebrate about winning a ward election,Mighty PF celebrate winning the bigger elections-parliamentary and presidential!its 7-0 now and soon it will 10-0 or 9-1 scoreline in favour of mighty PF!!most of us have already decided to vote for PF come 2016 and beyond!!GO PF GO AND CONGRATS GUYS IN PF!!

  3. Rainball should be ashamed of your selves. Why do you fear to field candidates in parliamentary elections if you think you are popular ? Solwezi west,Kasama central and Lubasenshi are up for grabs….if you are not just a newspaper party, you should stand up and be counted.Do not aim at ambushing a small ward and then you begin to sing praises for yourselves. It is far from being used as a yard stick for 2016 elections.

  4. The strategy for the rich politicians is buy-off voters at ward level and later claim to be popular. Money is being selectively spent to a small vulnerable population of a carefully selected Ward. This trick is not workable (viable) at a scale that encompasses a parliamentary constituency.

MMD and Rainbow parties are merely cracking jokes – kidding themselves.

  5. @ Mwansa Kabinga you are right my dear ! They targeted a small, group of vulnerable villagers and after getting the fake vote, they sit on their roof tops singing self praise songs to the whole world.

The question is why do they fear fielding candidates at the parliamentary level ?

  6. @mwansa kabinga & jb, those are the same tactics used by Pf big time. bribe the pipo with state funds just like 2015 elections. Lungu lost pants down but pf cooked the figures with ficticious vvotes from muchinga taken there by a zaf officer.
