Mighty shine at Sunset, Nkana dented by Zanaco

Mighty Mufulira Wanderers maintained 5th place after rallying to beat hosts Lusaka Dynamos at Sunset Stadium in Lusaka while Nkana fell at the same venue against Zanaco.

In the lunchtime kickoff of the Sunset doubleheader that served a rare dish of two of Zambia’s most successful clubs sharing the same bill in Lusaka, Mighty beat Dynamos 3-1 in an all-promotion match-up.

Conlyde Luchanga put Dynamos ahead inthe 4th minute but Mighty hit back to take a 2-1 halftime lead thanks to goals Jacob Ngulube and Chisopa Malama in the 30th and 35th minutes respectively.

Eric Chibuye put the result beyond doubt in the 58th minute.

Manfred Chabinga’s side stays 5th on 38 points, 14 points behind leaders Zesco United with six games left before the 2015 campaign comes to a close.

Dynamos stay put in 10th place on 28 points to after suffering their ninth league defeat of the season.

And Nkana’s six-match unbeaten run against Zanaco came to an end of Sunday when they lost 1-0.

50th minute substitute Moses Phiri fired in a free-kick on the hour mark to send Zanaco back into second position displacing Power Dynamos back to 3rd.

  1. Well done Mighty Mufulira , I think the biggest disappointment this season has been Changa Rangers , It is unbelievable that they should be fighting relegation. The other team that really should have done well was Red arrows but what a shame.
    Looks like ZESCO will bag this season aswell.
