POST NEWSPAPER DREW BATTLE LINES FOR THEMSELVES WHEN THEY CONTINUOUSLY RIDICULED, DEMEANED AND INSULTED PRESIDENT LUNGU

STATEMENT BY SUNDAY CHANDA, VICE CHAIRPERSON, MEDIA AND PUBLICITY COMMITTEE

Lusaka, Zambia, 20th September 2015 – Zambians must be laughing to hear that His Excellency President Edgar Chagwa Lungu is after Mr. Fred M’membe’s life, an issue that has reportedly alarmed the Post Newspaper boss and Editor’s biological mother.

While this is not a laughing matter, it is laughable because Zambians have been greeted to all sorts of ridicule, character assassination and insults from the day it became apparent that he would take over the reins of power from late President Michael Chilufya Sata to this day. The Post Newspaper declared Armageddon on President Lungu and his administration and the battle lines they are crying about are the ones they drew for themselves, and no one else.

Zambians are fully aware that the Post Newspaper has preached hatred against President Lungu. They have called him names and vilified his Presidency. He has been at the receiving end of their well-orchestrated agenda to make his Government fail so that their preferred political project in the name of Mr. Wynter Kabimba becomes President.

It is not for the PF administration to count how many lives have been tormented by the media outlet by sowing seeds of hatred and anger against individuals they have perceived to be their enemies. Today, even late President Frederick Chiluba is hunted in his grave when they fully know that the man cannot speak for himself in defence.

We want to assure that President Lungu remains a unifier of the nation and this is demonstrated through his exemplary humble leadership style. Yet Zambians do not expect President Lungu to wine and dine with the Post Newspaper and Mr. M’membe when they have declared him their enemy and number one target for ridicule. It is not in order for them to cry about battle lines they drew for themselves, just because the reminder has come from the President.

All he did was to demonstrate to them that he knows about their drawn battle lines and ready for their fight. it is not a threat on human life when the Bembas say “Alefwaya Ukwakufwila” or “Kafwile uko” (I do not want to be responsible for your demise). A person who this is said to is one on a suicide mission and wants others to be blamed for his death. The two expressions mean that someone is not interested in causing the other’s demise, whether literally or actually. It carried the same context as “Twala ubushilu ukutali, Kapene uko”, (take your madness elsewhere, not here).

In their desperation to bring down the PF Government, they have continued to vilify President Lungu through their appendages who line up for headlines on a daily basis. They can be assured that President Lungu and his Government will not go to bed with the cartel. To those who even entertain the ideal of such a marriage, they must be reminded that light has no fellowship with darkness. Zambians know about the axis of evil in this country which thrives on manipulation and blackmail but they have failed to penetrate President Lungu’s wall because he promised Zambians that PF and the nation are not be sell out to the highest bidder.

It is desperate Opposition parties like UPND and the still-born Rainbow Party who can sell their souls to the cartel. While Rainbow Party was created by the Cartel and in the nature and likeness of the Cartel, the UPND leadership of Hakainde Hichilema has defiled itself by sleeping with the Cartel.

UPND is now a poisoned chalice and will soon suffer serious haemorrhage because today, not even their youths who clashed with the Police after demonstrating over the suspended DPP Mutembo Nchito understand why their leader is such a flip flop. UPND MPs of good standing do not understand why they must be coerced into celebrating the man they rejected to ratify under three (3) years ago.

Mr. Hichilema can nolonger talk about the DBZ loan because he has traded principle for expedience. This is happening because their leader has traded principle for expediency, wrongly believing that the cartel will catapult him into State House. Mr. Hichilema does not realize that by being a flip flop, he has injured society, the same society where the mandate to govern is derived from.

Lastly, we want to thank the Zambian people for the support they have continued to give President Lungu and his PF administration. The PF in Government does not take this support lightly. Not even the insults targeted at President Lungu will slow him down on his endeavour to deliver for Zambia. President Lungu was elected by the Zambian people and those who pride in insulting him day-in and day-out only insult the intelligence of the people who put him into office.

  1. Instead of preparing for the repentance declared day…. You attacking every one…. Ati we will be praying and fasting…. I don’t know the god who Is going to hear your prayers…

    • Sunday, the truth is your boss Edgar has very bad language, “Voting me if you don’t like me”, “get out of Zambia if you don’t like me”, “I will descend on you like a ton of bricks”, “Uyu umulumendo Kachema”. Honestly, how can a president talk like that and get a moron like Chanda to defend. DPP’s case is in court, what has that got to do with HH.2016, Edgar and bunch , kayu babele !

    • Sunday Chanda, I think you have spoken way too early. Do you have any idea just how many people still read the Post Newspaper, and how many still have faith in it? The best was take proper statistics as to how many people read it and out of those, how many readers trust what the Post says. Wait until the election results are out before you speculate. You might just get the shock of your life.

  2. Fresh from ED’s speech to business as usual… I take it even you don’t believe what he said less than a hundred hours ago…x

    • Sunday Chanda also drinking Jamasoni whiskey. What exemplary leadership has Lungu demonstrated? Please prove to us.

The average Zambian still remains poor and living in deplorable conditions without clean water, proper sewage, electricity, jobs …the list is endless.

  3. Yayaya these guys are blithering on like drunks in a bar, threatening a chair because they are too cooked to see that it is not a person but a chair… The cartel? Isn’t it time to think of another boogeyman to scare gullible infants with?

  4. Maybe spokespersons for PF or HE Lungu should stick to listing his “exemplary” and “unifying” achievements since becoming President. What are they, exactly? Provide a bulleted list please, it has been over half a year

  5. Those who still have brains in their heads have heard the message. Those who keep their brains in their boots will write as above, fortunately the noise makers are a tiny minority, all they can do is make noise for everybody

  6. Ya too many scatter brain! You call for reconciliation, before you get there you start hitting on the perceived energy again! May God be the judge in all this!

  7. Mmembe has children but no family life, can someone tell me that they have seen Mrs !Mmembe please napapata, That should explain how much time he has for bitterness and anti humanity crusade.

  8. Florence Sibeso the mother to Mmembe has no shame to start threatening victims of Mmembe. Does this women know that her son is bully? We want to serve notice to Florence Sibeso her truant son that Zambians will not take humiliation lying down, they will stand and defend themselves.

  9. It is shameful that it has failed 100% in addressing more pressing issues like instability of Kwacha, rampant corruption, inflation, rule of law, malnutrition, hunger, destitution………………
    What a bunch of pillocks!

  10. The Post hates Lungu in preference for the Cartel and UPND is also trying to build friendship in exchange for for good coverage. This is common knowledge and all Zambians know about it

Little wonder Lungu will kolopa them in 2016…..some people have even stopped reading the Post in protest for the negative coverage of the President every day. These guys are hypocrites !

  11. Ba Chanda. It is a shame that your President ECL has, as a stated aim, fighting a none-existant “Cartel” and spends all his energy towards that instead of ‘fighting’ the economy. We elected him to make the economy work for the majority of Zambians. Why should the Head of State be busy making pronouncements against a Newspaper editor? Does it mean he doesent have more serious things to do? While you are busy fighting a none-existant Cartel, we will choose a more serious president who will address the economic problems the country is going through. RB is a failure. Those are the people you choose to associate with! I can see the DPP issue is sorting you out. Why does the state want the Tribunal in secret? What do you have to hide?

  12. Open Letter To The Mother Of Mr Fred M’membe, Ms Florence Sibeso

    Sunday 20th, September 2015.

    Dear mother,

I have decided to write this open letter to you after my mother drew my attention to a story in the Post Newspapers edition number 6906 – Friday September 18, 2015 under the heading “M’membe’s mother awaits his death at Lungu’s hands”. In the said story you were quoted extensively on the malicious allegation that our Republican President His Excellency Edgar Chagwa Lungu was threatening to kill your son, Fred.
I know that Fred has convinced you that Mr Lungu threatened his life. After reading what you said in the story in question I have no doubt that you believe that your son Mr M’membe will be killed by president Lungu sooner or later. Against this background, I…

  13. WELL WRITTEN CHANDA, WE SHALL KOLOPA THESE CHAPS. AFTER 2016 THEY WILL ALL BE IN DUST BIN! THEY WILL BE FIGHT AMONGST THEMSELVES VERY SOON

  14. @JKL
The Cartel exists and you sound like you are part of them.A genuine newspaper was supposed to balance stories.Do you mean ECL has never done anything good for the Zambians ever since he came to power ?

Constructive criticism is good but for the Post it is very clear that that they hate the head of state. The more negative stories they write about him the more sympathy he is getting from Zambians. We are surprised PAZA is also failing to address the situation.

    • @siatwinda. Thanks for your posting. When you say “The Cartel” exists, Iam sure you have proof of this? Have you met them? And if you have proof, then the govt has proof as well. So if this “Cartel” is so devious, why doesen’t the govt take them to court? What I see is just a villification of those govt does not agree with in order to gain sympathy from the general populace. The first publication to use the term was ZWD, referring to a group of people they perceived to have influence with govt. If this group does exist, why is it that their “secret” meetings are not so secret since their adversaries seem to know what they are planning; where they met to plan, etc? Besides, we elect a President to deal with the economic problems of the country and not fight imaginary cartels.

    • @Siantwindi, it is you who is supposed to form a balanced view by reading both the State media and the private media…. You should know by now that all media will either lean towards the Govt position or will be against in their reporting. This was clearly demonstrated by the headlines in yesterday’s Times of Zambia and the Sunday Post…!

    • @siatwinda, your reply shows the problem I have with this concept of “The Cartel”. Simply because I have expressed doubts about its existence, you accuse me of “sound(ing) like you are part of them”! Really? I think this proves the point that no such “Cartel” exists. If you oppose ECL, then you are part of the Cartel! Guy Scott was part of the Cartel when he opposed ECL. Miles Sampa became part of it when he opposed ECL. That was also the pretext used to try to hound the DPP out of his office. The same pretext is being used to have a secret tribunal for the DPP (probably with pre-determined results). If this Cartel is evil why not have the Tribunal hearings in the open so that we all see how evil they really are? Maybe ECL has no proof & does not want to be embarassed with an open…

  15. I like the way u sound ba Chanda.U are trying to make Zambians think that the opposition is bad while u and yo govt are good and well meaning. I can even tell that u ar really bitter and panicking. But one thing is certain that time is not in yo favour and now u want to sound innocent b4 all Zambians. It is too late. 17. Quoting the Daily Nation on Toxic individuals: “This noxious clique of individuals, given vent in jaundiced media, see nothing good around them and therefore daily prophesy doom, failure and calamity. This is their lot and no amount of reality doses will rouse them from their self induced pessimistic view of the nation.
They have no intention of accepting that calamities and setbacks are but part of life and that only resilience and determination will help the nation surmount and climb out of deep troughs wrought by human and natural events.”
Unfortunately, in my one year of reading the LT, I have found most of its bloggers are toxic individuals. Secondly, in Africa particularly Zambia, people see things in the short term and that is why they use short cuts to solve problems thereby…

  18. @jkl
Is it in order for a newspaper to be writing negative stories about a citizen simply because he is President ? Now truelly Zambians are now sympathizing with him and like the way Sata was vilified by the stand up for Zambia,ECL will win elections very easily. The Cartel and indeed cow dung have little or nothing differently to offer.

  19. Next we will see any Post vendors being beaten in Eastern Province just like when the Post was criticising President Rupiah Banda, it was difficult to even get a copy in Chipata or Lundazi. It seems like Banda now simply owns State House again, even if HE Lungu doesn’t know it. It’s Banda’s personal agenda that is driving the witch-hunt against this fantasy of the Cartel

  20. Stop blaming Banda……blame people who promote hate by twisting facts to suit their agenda of promoting the CARTEL in a news paper.

  21. But this chap nauseates me. Instead of helping the president craft and deliver on a vision, you are so engrossed with trying to please.

  22. I have no doubt that PF will still wallop UPND again, no doubt because it’s sort of spiritual warfare and Jesus Christ is still on the throne in Zambia, whom the UPND leaders do not believe in, running away from national prayers, opposing declaration of Zambia as a christian nation, avoiding jubilee celebrations which were all about prayer. You cannot hide your true colours. Many Zambians are Christians and know why some people hate and avoid prayer.
