KATUBA member of Parliament (MP) Jonas Shakafuswa (UPND) has appealed to Zambians with divergent views not to hate President Lungu.

Mr Shakafuswa told Parliament on Wednesday that the head of State should be supported whenever he makes progressive statements in order to diffuse the hatred that has emerged among political parties.

“Don’t hate Edgar Lungu. There is a lot of hatred going on among political parties. I have personally engaged President Lungu in a lot of things, some of them are in his Presidential speech,” Mr Shakafuswa said.

He was contributing to the motion of thanks to the President’s address to the House last Friday.

Mr Shakafuswa said President Lungu’s declaration of October 18 as the national day of prayer; reconciliation and fasting should be supported by all peace-loving Zambians.

He said the declaration should be embraced by all as it symbolises that God has come to the country.
He said the current regionalism that has engulfed the political field should not be promoted.

Mr Shakafuswa is concerned that Zambians are grouping each other and this is detrimental to the well- being of politics in the country.

He said he will not wait for 2016 to work with those in Government because his role in the opposition is to offer checks and balances.

Mr Shakafuswa said there is need for the ruling Patriotic Front (PF) to “walk the talk”when it comes to implementing the Presidential speech.

    • Just because Lusaka Times has twisted what he actually said and you are happy. Your hatred for HH will not take you anywhere. He has made it in life and within Zambia. He is not an economic refugee like you.

  1. Why are you selective with your words LT. He said he “refused an offer for a Ministerial position from EL because he wants to offer checks and balances as an opposition MP” and that ” he will wait until 2016 to work with a party that has progress ideas when it forms Government” Parliament Radio is live on this one you can not lie to us.

    • That’s how low our journalism has sunk. Reporting is not on truth but on what you want your pay masters to hear. It was live on radio. Listen to Parliament Radio and judge for yourself
