KITWE district commissioner Chanda Kabwe says President Lungu is re-writing history by his bold move to work from Kitwe for five days.

Mr Kabwe said in an interview yesterday that the people of Kitwe are elated that President Lungu will live with them for such a long time.

“This goes to show you that President Lungu is a people-person. He understands the grassroots. He wants to see for himself what is on the ground,” he said.

Mr Kabwe said Kitwe is the hub of the Copperbelt and is politically the nerve centre for the Patriotic Front and boasts of many registered voters.

“As a district, we feel humbled and blessed that the President will work from here. This is the first time a head of State is doing this. We are so happy,” he said.

Mr Kabwe said President Lungu will go down in history as a great President, who listened to people and connected with ordinary Zambians.

“Kitwe is also a hub of the mines. So his coming will provide many answers and solutions. We will give him all the support,” he said.

Last week, President Lungu’s special assistant for press and public relations Amos Chanda announced that State House will from October 29 to November 2, 2015 be operating from Kitwe.

  1. OFCOURSE MORE PARADING! WHAT WORK FROM KITWE? PANDERING TO HIS BASE. HE PROBABLY JUST WANTS TO DRINK AT ZAMBIA-ZAIRE! LUNGU REFUSES TO TOUR UTH SO HE CAN SEE THE SSITUATION ON THE GROUND AND YOU THINK HE IS WORKING FROM KITWE TO ACCESS THE SITUATION? HOW GULLIBLE CAN ZAMBIANS BE? THE COUNTRY HAS BECOME A LAUGHING STOCK AND OUR PRESIDENT IS STILL A TOURIST IN CHIEF. ALL HE HAS DONE IS CHANGED BY PICKING A COUPLE OF LOCAL DESTINATIONS. INTEAD OF THESE PARADES LUNGU SHOULD BE MAKING POLICY ANNOUNCEMENTS. WORKING FROM KITWE AND HIS DULL DISTRICT COMMISSIONER ACTALLY ADMITS HE IS PANDERING BECAUSE KITWE HAS MANY VOTERS. USELESS PHARISEES!

    • I see a lot of bitterness and frustration from Loadist. How many policies can one make in a day in a year and moreover budgets are there for all to see; all line ministries are autonomous, UTH is an organization with its own board of directors, etc, etc. Lesa twafweni mutupele amano na maka tubombe bwino icalo chiye pantanshi, bakachema bakatwipaya ngatamutupalile!

    • Did you say “How gullible We Zambians can be”? We gathered to pray; ati ‘gullible’, he comes to his people; ati ‘gullible’. Could it be that it is you fellas that are so hugely disjointed from the Zambian masses? I’d advise you that you strongly consider rebranding your wrongly branded party and starting afresh. Otherwise, you will continue minimizing your chances into extinction.
God Bless You and God Bless Mother Zambia!

  2. “Mr Kabwe said Kitwe is the hub of the Copperbelt and is politically the nerve centre for the Patriotic Front and boasts of many registered voters.” ?……. Always thought DCs were civil servants and not allowed to show political inclination. And what exactly is their role anyway.

  3. what is further waste of tax payers money. All the State House staff from Cooks, cleaners, Security men, Govt officials, etc will be getting daily out of town allowances, fuel, etc.
Please what work does he need to do there in Kitwe, let be serious am a PF carde but can tell he is just trying to win votes from the miners who are losing jobs

    • Mary, Mary, Mary.
Muletekanya. Umuti wabukopo kuya kusukulu. I hope you are not too late!
Have you ever heard of the Presidential lodge?
Do you remember Michael Sata making the Kitwe DC work? Oh! SORRY! Waletamba Sponge Bob Square Pants.
      Kulabwino!

    • Kakolwe uli kolwe zoona…Mary it is true. Regardless of the Presidential lodge they will still get out of office allowances…and to think prayers and fasting was to ask for wisdom. Still irresponsible.

    • Imwe. Ask the Secretary to Cabinet what happens when an OFFICE moves. There are not going there for a workshop please. The Office has moved. Does it mean getting allowances? Why cant we get answers from people who are managing these issues. Petition the SC to issue a statement and clarify the matter. I remember when I was in government and we would move offices to avoid disturbances. We never got allowances for that process.

  4. I am bringing all my farm workers to come and work from office. I want to closely supervise them understand why cows only produce one calf per year and not twins. I want to be in touch with their working culture. Kayaking kaya!

  5. Oh what a shame!! Look at the expense and time wasting: food, transport to and from Kitwe is all extra budget expense for state house; Govt heads of depts, pf cadres will all suspend their daily jobs and businesses for those 5 days just to pay attention to their big boss. Most important of all: What is he going to do in Kitwe that he can’t do while in Lusaka?

  6. Lungu’s decisions do not make financial or economic sense. That’s his greatest undoing, lack of vision in these areas. The country is faced with a budget deficit and he continues to make the cost of running government more expensive because of his choices instead of doing the opposite.

  7. These up and down haters are evil and want to criticize everything the President is doing for the good of this country.Who doesn’t know that C/B is the strong hold of PF ?

    • Is he going to perform PF or national duty? He should not go to Kitwe because it is PF stronghold, he is the national president and not PF president.

    • and you call yourself fact when you cant deal with a simple fact that the president need to relocate to kitwe to do the work of a DC at a huge cost to the already depleted national coffers

  8. So all his support staff will have to travel with him and claim out of station allowances, etc. Then this dimwit of a DC says the people of Kitwe are happy to have the president leave among them, seriously? What real benefit with that bring to them that we in Lusaka also benefit from from him for leaving among us here in Lusaka? Probably the only benefit will be that the area he’ll be staying will not experience load shedding for the time he’ll be there and naturally the surrounding areas will be benefit…but this will only be for the time he’s there.

  9. Modern work culture dictates that you reduce expenditure and hold meetings via tele/video conferencing with colleagues in different locations of the world. Working from Kitwe will not be cost-effective or efficient. Pf is taking us backwards in terms of work culture, work technology and the economy. Seems PF is allergic to modern technology. PF should do things based on cost benefit. No wonder Malawian President used Zambia as an example,********

  10. “@songo
You mean if your cow dung leader came to power,he will not be entitled to allowances when travelling ? shallow thinking and cheap politicking by an opposition which is vision less and headed for defeat in 2016

    • @John
I dont know why some of you ‘open’ your ‘mouths’…you obviously have blind loyalty to the very same leader who continues to make dull decisions…moving office to kitwe is of course a dull move and only people like you can afford to tuck your tails between your legs rather than point it out.

  11. What is Lungu going to give the people of Kitwe, of course nothing? He has always worked in Lusaka, what has he given the people of Lusaka?

  12. Comment:
Good idea, this Jamesone guy is intelligent…
Next ku east then West eventually south… The Presido for all Zambians
